Jorginho and Big Gabi react to derby day victory

Gabriel Magalhaes was Arsenal’s hero at White Hart Lane, scoring the header that sealed a 1-0 victory over Sp*rs and leading the defence to a well-earned clean sheet.

After the game, the Brazil international faced questions from Sky Sports alongside Jorginho, who captained the side in the absence of Martin Odegaard.

On special celebrations with the fans…

Gabriel: I’m so happy, we knew it was a difficult game, a big derby. We’re so happy to win here, let’s enjoy it now.

On what it meant to score…

Gabriel: It means a lot. I’m so proud of the team and when we had a difficult time in the game, we scored from a corner. I’m so happy.

On how hard Arsenal had to work for the clean sheet…

Jorginho: We had to work really hard, as you saw, but we knew it was going to be a difficult game. When you have these days, you need to work really hard. We can count on each other, on our teammates and that’s what we do. We stick together and at the end the work paid off, we’re so happy that we won and I’m so happy for this guy [Gabriel] that he scored the winning goal.

On trusting the work done on the training ground in light of the many injuries…

Jorginho: That’s what I said, we know that we can count on each other now that we have this situation where we’re missing key and important players for us, but we have total team, the whole squad, we know whoever is going to come on is going to be ready to help the team and, as you saw today, everyone was ready. We are really proud of the team and happy.

I actually fine Ange quite the likable chap, especially when his teams lose to us

Andy

As Spud managers go he’s far from the most odious.

Bruce

Lovely

Henkamp

Gathering clean sheets like picking up fruits from a fertile garden… I love this team so much and those warriors at the back!

John

Loved the way big Gabi’s veins bulged in his neck when celebrating that goal. Proper Arsenal defender.

Jorgi says the players can count on each other now. Just lovely

I Like Eboue-boue

Even without the goal, Big Gabi would have been my MotM. Absolute rock today.

Doghouse

Yeah he just shaded Timber who was outstanding

100%. I loved his interplay with Martinelli and Trossard. Created some chances for us on the edge of the D. On the other side he matched Johnson and Odobert for speed and chose his angles to close them down impeccably. Big time performance in his first ever NLD!

Just watched Postecoglu’s post match interview. Sounds like a depressed dustman who’s had to go back to work after a four month strike with stinking rubbish piled up in the streets.

“Oh Christ mate, that’s a nappy bin!”

Not seen such an unhappy or upset Ange since Dirty Den handed over the Divorce papers on Christmas Day

Heavenly Chapecoense

Man, City will have a very tough week. After a bad court hearing, they will face a team that knows how to win.

Erling Haaland will not sleep this week ! He knows that defence negates anything he can do or try & they show no fear of his shit haircut!
I think City will be the nail chewers this week how do they breach that defence of ours ? And now Timber playing like a boss too ! Be afraid Citeh be very afraid !!!

Four matches and one goal allowed (and that was after the Rice red card) including shutouts against Villa and Spurs on the road and that is playing with an error prone Partey at defensive mid. Once we get Merino and Odegaard healthy and can move Rice back to his preferred position our defense will get even stronger (especially as Timber continues to improve physically and with experience in the PL). Just need to get back to our higher scoring ways and we’ll be in good shape.

Big Gabby, easily man of the match. Man, his commitment is something. He celebrated every single block from his teammates or himself!

Dr. Gooner

The tactics were sensible today but the players deserve all the credit. First for their mental sharpness playing that zone look against all that fluidity, second for their physical commitment. Timber and Gabi deserve their flowers, but I’d like to highlight Havertz. He showed Solanke how a proper CF gets his team up the pitch, competes for second balls and wins headers in the box. Immense.

What a sweet way to wind the weekend with a derby victory over spurs !!

OdalGooner

Trossard had to switch shirts because he flexed!!
