Arsenal U18s prepared for QPR test in FA Youth Cup

Saturday is set to be a busy day for the Arsenal academy, with three matches taking place which could involve youth players.

Some youngsters may be required on the bench for the first-team against Aston Villa, with Ismeal Kabia and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji having been named amongst the substitutes against Tottenham last night.

The U21s will return to action away to Fulham but the main priority for the academy will be the FA Youth Cup tie at home to QPR later that evening.

Arsenal survived a scare to edge past non-league side Hertford Town in the third round last month and this will be their first competitive match in any competition since then.

Max Dowman was ineligible to play in the last round as he is too young to feature against non-league teams, but the highly rated 15-year-old could make his Youth Cup debut against QPR.

Versatile forward Andre Harriman-Annous, who was involved in first-team training this week, could also feature in the Youth Cup clash.

Arsenal, coached by Adam Birchall, will be wary that they won’t face a straightforward task against QPR, who could field former Gunners defender Cory Brew.

However, the young Gunners will be hopeful that they can progress even though they will be without Myles Lewis-Skelly, who is still eligible to feature in the Youth Cup this season.
