Bayern eye summer Koscielny move

According to France Football, Bayern Munich are considering a summer move for Laurent Koscielny.

The centre-half was part of the team which lost to the 3-1 to German champions at the Emirates but after Arsene Wenger dropped captain Thomas Vermaelen for the second leg, the Frenchman was part of a defence which kept a clean sheet and he scored the late goal which set Bayern nerves on edge.

The FF report says, “Koscielny’s excellent performance in 2nd leg caught Bayern’s attention and they have made enquiries.”

It’s unclear as to whom enquiries have been made. If it’s Arsenal one would hope they’ll have been politely rebuffed and reminded that Koscielny recently signed a new long-term deal.

The former Guingamp man can consider himself somewhat unlucky to have been on the bench as often as he had this season, especially given the form of Vermaelen, but nevertheless has made 29 appearances this campaign.

Meanwhile, reports in the Catalan press continue to link Barcelona with skipper Thomas Vermaelen.

The soon to be Spanish champions are in need of central defensive reinforcement, and if Arseblog News had to put any money on a centre-half leaving this summer, it’d be the Belgian who shares the same agent as Robin van Persie.

Nah, you’re alright.

fatcunt

Yep. He might be alil bit error unlucky but we all know he has great potential to be the best and that might well be why bayerns head have been turned.

My advice: turn that stupid bayern head elsewhere koss is ours!!

Norn Iron Gooner

Yup, they can fuck right off…

ds 14

Seriously ,l.. OFF !

Anon

I thought we’d already passed April Fools’.

LG

Kos to stay! I’d also prefer Verm to stay as his versatility makes him fantastic even when not favoured flavour for central pairing.

Ifaz

Two words:

FUCK OFF!

Nacho Vermertesagna

Ehh, I wouldn’t worry too much. Bayern don’t really need Koscielny a great deal. Maybe they’ll look for another centre-back of Daniel Van Buyten leaves/retires at the end of the season but they will still have Badstuber (injured, yes, but he’ll be back by the start of next season), Dante and Boateng.

I doubt Kos will leave either way, though.

Norn Iron Gooner

Ack, ballacks, just posted something similar above. This OCD’s gonna be my downfall. Sorry

Muse

And so it begins.

Aero

I think everyone probably laughed when they read this!

Someone should inform them that it is not an Arsenal team of a season or two ago, where some ‘big’ names left. Therefore this kind of tapping up will not work here anymore.

The press are going to hate the fact that they can’t speculate, berate and spew shit about our top players this summer.

For once in a long time I can see a good summer on the horizon.

Monica

F*ck off, Bayern Munich!

Eboue's Balls

No. But you can have diaby and diaby instead.

njqnjq

Fuck

BillyBatts

Not a popular view amongst many of my Gooner friends, but I’m personally of the opinion that Verm is not that much cop. People have slightly rose-tinted opinions of him based on his heroic goalscoring feats at the beginning of his career, and from his lengthly injury in his second season. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. His positioning is questionable on many occasions, and my honest view is that he’s a part of the team that could be improved upon. Merticielny for me.

shuggietodd

I agree with all of that. I think that TV’s goal scoring after he first signed and some of the tackles he made may have given us the impression that he was a bit better than he is.

Kos has been excellent and HAS to stay.

Saurabh

First time in years I thought we might start the next with our team intact.. but now this.. 🙁
I don’t care if TV5 is good or not. He is the club captain and a senior player. He has to stay to ensure continuity

Midfield Corporal

I would worry about this story, he’s got a lengthy contract with us, I can’t see Bayern offering silly Na$ri style money to tempt us into selling, and I’m guessing Kos is grateful to us for giving him the chance to play at a high level. I can’t see any really high profile departures this summer (probably because we’ve already flogged them all). Sagna looks to be out the door but the only other 1st teamer who I worry might go is Szchezny if we sign an experienced keeper.

moobs

Completely agree with midfield corporal, assuming you meant ‘wouldn’t’.

Also kos seemed pretty pissed at bayern when he got booked after neuer tried to have sex with the ball in Munich.

ChrisGoona

I have to agree, his form has been bad. IMO TV5 was more suited to the Arsenal of 2 years ago. We use to hold the ball a lot more in the oppositions half and leaked a lot of goals from counter attacks. I think his game is suited to a more high pressure Arsenal game. By that I mean us pinning the opposition back, where our CB’s would snuff out any counter attacks. There was a game this season I think against Spurs at home where he performed like his old-self cos we had them on the ropes. Kos… Read more »

Ben

Vermaelen can go, though. If we can’t find another centre half better than him I’ll rim Samir Nasri.

argonaut

Given our patchy record on defensive signings, you’d best get that tongue ready.

Dr. Love

Ha! I’d have to say I agree with Ben though. Barcelona have a knack for paying us decent money for players that aren’t very good anymore (Cesc aside), look at Hleb, Song, Van Bronckhorst, even Henry really, I would say all of that was good business for Arsenal.

It’s a stretch to say that this means we should automatically sell Vermaelen, but he hasn’t impressed me in a long time…

SICKOFTHISPUFFYCOAT

Song wasn’t good when we sold him to Barça ?? You need to stop the roofies mate, he was one of our best players.
Then of course he went to Cuntland and got to play 11 games . No crying over this fellow, especially after the attitude he had when he left.

Dr. Love

Yeah I guess statistically he was pretty good. I just remember being completely indifferent about him leaving. It seemed like he couldn’t decide his position by the end, and every second touch was a hopeful chip forward in the hope that some greying twat would score and pretend to polish his boots, which I felt was detrimental to the team (not the scoring, but giving the ball away regularly).

Although it’s possible hindsight has clouded my judgement.

Aero

I wouldn’t consider letting Vermalen go either. Just because he lost his position in the team he should be sold??? Not for me. He stays, works hard and add to his game – if he can’t do that then we sell him next year. TO be able to rotate between PER, KOS and VERM is very useful for us and often underestimated and we should add another rather then trying to sell one of them off.

If Arteta was made captain instead of TV then TV would have had a far greater/ less scrutinized season.

Big Chief from Antarctica

Normally I would have said meh, he just signed a new deal but how many years had Song left? FUCK OFF, BAYERN. Bunch of cunts, since that second leg. Disgraceful behaviour.

Feygooner

To be fair, it’s juist a newspaper saying that they might think that an Arsenal player could improve their team. I don’t see anything disgraceful in that, even if it true.

johndoe

The article says that they made “enquiries”. Is that not the proper thing to do when you are interested in a player, just like arsenal Inquired about david villa in January? Is that not better than having all your players talk to the press about how good koscielny is and how much he would fit in at bayern munich. I dont think there is anything disgraceful about their attitude. Had it been it was barcelona, they would have done worse than that.

Glory Hunter

Fair point JohnD;
If Arsenal choose to sell then the only cunts are the people running our club!

Master Bates

oooooh to be a FUCKING gooner

InTheArse

That should spoil your good mood

Celeb

Can we get an article like this about Bendtner, Park, Chamakh, Denilson and Squillaci.

Seriously need this dead wood out and will someone please come out with some kind of explanation for Park I feel stressed everytime I think of him.

InTheArse

Only possible reason I could think of, he was bought to increase Arsenal’s marketability in Asia

Exiledgooner

That’s always been my take on it; a marketing ploy. Cynical maybe, but I honestly think Arsenal looked at how Manchester United’s Park was regarded in Korea and wanted a piece of the action. Shame it didn’t work out.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

If we bought him for that reason then we really fucked it up by not playing him. If we were that desperate for money and recognition from Asia we would have played him regardless. We bought him because it looked like a good deal on paper. It’s that simple. I have no idea what went wrong, but he sure as heck wasn’t bought to fill a slot in the squad just to raise our profile in Asia. We have now had two prominent and popular players from Asia and in both cases their careers effectively stalled after they came here,… Read more »

Insight

A curious, honest question to all of my fellow Gooners: what do you think about Sahko from PSG?

Master Bates

he’s really awesome in FIFA13

Jackthelad

Vermaelen is better player than Mert. We need to work on getting his partnership with Kos to work better.

Merde Bag

I’d argue that similar centre halves can play together, these two are just prone to same type of mistakes

Aero

Adding another defender like Per who can compliment the other two would be the best solution for all involved.

Master Bates

What’s worse 2 Vermaelens or 2 Mertesackers

TeeCee

“who can compliment the other two”

(BFG)

I vud just like to say how vunderfully adorable Herr Vermaelen and Herr Koscielny are lookink today!

(/BFG)

Something like that?

Santi Claws

I think they’d be a good pairing for Barcelona, where mobility and confidence on the ball are paramount to the style of play. But the median attacking quality of the Prem is much higher than in La Liga, so a high, pressing defensive line – while effective some of the time – is more prone to costly mistakes. The fact that Barca’s midfield has been playing together since Coronation Street premiered and thusly defend as an aggressive unit with an instinctive knowledge of one another’s positioning means that two mobile, aggressive centre-backs function really well together, because if by some… Read more »

argonaut

They are different types of player, so you can’t really say one is better than the other. Results would indicate that Kos and Merts are the best partnership. We should be looking for the right sort of player that would complement Vermaelen so that we have two strong defensive partnerships.

I actually believe that Sagna could be the right defensive partner for Vermaelen if he were moved to CB, so rather than find a new CB, we should be looking to find a new RB or promoting Jenks to starter with Bellerin as understudy.

Midfield Corporal

Totally agree Argonaut, Sagna seems to have lost his athleticism down the wing, but surely his performance against Sunderland showed he would provide experienced cover at CB as well as RB.

SICKOFTHISPUFFYCOAT

I agree with you JackTheLad. Don’t know why you got so many negative votes but I’d love the see the Kos/Verm partnership back. Never been a huge fan of Merte even though he’s having a good season. He’s got a lot of qualities but is just…….too……..fucking……..slow.

TeeCee

Yes, he’s so slow that German international performances are characterised by pacey players ripping through their defence and scoring a hatful………oh……wait……

Leftbackinthedressingroom

Why can’t they show a bit of interest in Nik Bendner – he’s always wanted to play in Germany, and he is of course The Greatest Striker that ever —–

Waterbear

I think Bayern know he’s clearly out of their league.

I guess its a curse as well as a gift in having TGSTEL.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

If he were rebranded as TGDTEL they would take him in a second. Wenger needs to play Bendtner in central defence for a couple of games. Bendtner must have realised that the football world doesn’t see him as the great striker he sees himself as. He might jump at the chance to add “Versatile” to his list of superpowers. He’d be guaranteed a move to a club suitable to a player of his “self-evident” quality.

HitsMan

This is the summer where we have to show our resilience to big offers. Wenger simply has to say: “Fuck off everyone, you’re not taking anyone from our first team.”

Aero

I think he has been doing that, though the players, agents, the little boys inside them and other parties involved have pretty much made the moves happen.

But yeah he should tell them to fuck off whilst holding a rocket launcher.

Red Cannon

The difference this year is that all of our desirable players with the exception of Sagna are on long-term contracts, so we’re in a position to tell other clubs to fuck off.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

That doesn’t work against rich clubs. They just offer more money if they really want a player badly (and they can afford to hire plenty of people to destabilise said player so that he decides his only option is to move.)

chris

all this talk of signings with our new sponsorship money etc… Lets first rather see if it helps us buck a recent trend of losing our best players

Ally

All this “fuck off Bayern” is a bit weird. Are you not allowed to be interested in other team’s players’ any more? If we get to the point where Neuer and Schweinsteiger are coming out in the press giving it the “We really hope Koscielny joins” etc. etc. then I think you have reason to be annoyed, but otherwise it’s no different from the English press speculating over Jovetic, Capoue and others.

medi

Remember, next year they have Pep as their manager. So it’s like barca f**k off chapter 2.

HitsMan

Yeah but it’s the fact that it’s Bayern, the time-wasting cunts with a goalkeeper who says he falls asleep in goal, then actually does on the ball when they’re 2-0 down.

Yegor

They can keep eyeing all the like. Cunts.

d7g7

Hey Bayern, why don’t you go and sign someone who can score a penalty against Chelscum instead of a defender?

Mikel Artekkers

I actually think that Chelsea winning the CL was a blessing in disguise for us. It means that Tottenham didn’t get the added UCL money this season and the ability to attract top (top, top) players that goes with it. Consiering how tight thw race to finish above them is, them not having that extra quality player they could have got with the CL money/attraction could make the difference for us.

Stewpot

When a player is playing consistently well like Koscielny interest is naturally aroused by big clubs in Europe, in this case Bayern Munich. I personally only see it as media jargon on top of the fact that I can’t see Bayern make any formal (let alone rumoured) interest in players until Guardiola has joined in the summer. Relax, blogs!

Naija Gunner

Hmmm…never gonna happen, fact is he just signed a new long term deal, and he’s now playing and we love him for being a good warrior for the Gunners.

So f**k off Bayern shit, if it’s true?!

timbothemaniac

Very unlikely that Bayern will buy another Centre-back after they have Dante, Badstuber, Boateng and van Buyten and already signed Kirchhoff for the next season.

shuggietodd

And Van Buyten is a fellow Belgian defender. With Vermaelen, Van Buyten, Kompany and Vertonghen the Belgians must have one of the strongest defences around.

Not to mention Mirallas, Benteke and Hazard further up the pitch…..

A Yank

You forgot Lukaku, Dembele, and Mignolet.

I’m not kidding when I say Belgium could win the next World Cup.

A Yank

That’s assuming they qualify… because that seems to be their problem.

shuggietodd

They’re topping their group at the moment with a really good record, which I believe is won 6, drawn 1, or something similar.
They really do have an amazing set of players at the moment. Someone like Fellaini would walk into the England team….

Giroud's perfectly chiseled face

Fellaini as well

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

It’s terrible how they let all those rubbish small teams take places in the Finals away from teams full of skillful stars like Belgium. Take that shitty England team, for example. They keep qualifying due to favouritism and the clearly pro-English bias of the people running UEFA but they’re always shown up for a classless bunch of cloggers during the Tournament.

“Restrict the Finals to the teams with the best players”. That’s what I say.

Jean-Christian

Sure, Bayern, you can have him. Straight swap for Dante… and Muller… and Ribery. Oh, and Neuer.

You can keep Robben, though. The cunt.

TeeCee

That’s funny, I usually see Robben described as a “ball-hogging, selfish cunt”. Not just a cunt.

Has he come over all generous and “team player” recently?

Arsene Wenger

Personally, the only defender I’d swap (if I had to) is Vermaelen, probably for Badstuber so that he could partner Mert in the defence. The only problem is, they’re both quite slow if I recall correctly and Badstuber’s been out with a long term injury.

wardy

I know i may be setting myself up for a fall but barca are welcome to Vermealen. as for kos no frickin way!!!!

KWG

Even though this probably won’t happen (fingers crossed), it would be a crying shame if it did. I remember seeing somewhere that over 60m Kos is the 3rd fastest in the team or something? (behind Theo and Ryo). Really quality player and I’ve enjoyed seeing his progress and development over the last few seasons.

malade

Theoryokos is the fastest of all the Greek islands

SICKOFTHISPUFFYCOAT

(Silent nodding)Well done sir, well…done. And true. I remember a game against Man Utd last year when Koscielny made Rooney his bitch every time he needed to run fast. Kos is one of the fastest defenders around, no doubt about that.

shuggietodd

I’ve read a couple of rumours that Song wants to return to Arsenal next season. Any opinions? Likely? A good idea?

I happen to think that if he doesn’t come back to Arsenal that Fergie would make a move for him. They have a pretty lightweight midfield.

shuggietodd

I know it’s not going to be a popular topic, but it is being mentioned in several places. Personally I think that he wouldn’t be welcome back even if he wanted to return…

Arsene Wenger

The problem is, in regards to what we actually need now, his skillset is mediocre and unnecessary. He has little quality defensively and we don’t need his technical creativity due to having Cazorla, Ramsey, Arteta, Wilshere and even Gervinho. We also know that he has a terrible mentality and would turn his back on Arsenal if a big-wage club was interested in buying him. What we need is a professional, technically dominant and mentally strong defensive midfielder with discipline. Yes, that is hard to come by. People keep mentioning Wanyama because of a couple of good outings but is he… Read more »

Fuck off Bayern

ForeverYoungGun

It is clear Koscielny is the best defender at the club.

We really should exploit some of these clubs asking for our first teamers for some of their own.

If they really want him, they have to give the excellent lahm up. (I know they dont play the same position, but it adds to my point)

ds 14

if bayern want him they can have him, if they are willing to pay 35 mil £, i heard that they paid more than 30 mill £ for javi martinez so cosidering kocielny has signed a new contrat up to july 2017. with the extra money we will have a total of 105 mill £ of transfer budget.

Loop A Hole

It’s not about the money.

Soccerisma

He will be loyal no doubt. Kos rejected Barcelona in summer, reiterated his desire to stay a gunner and Im sure he will reject Bayern too

Notariusz Kielce

This site was… how do you say it? Relevant!! Finally I’ve found something that helped me. Thank you!

Goontang

I dont think so. Giroud just got here. As if anyones gonna get sick of seein that face after just one season.

HitsMan

I know nobody can resist because he’s so damn gorgeous, but why mention him when this is about Koscielny?

Indiegooner

There were a lot of reports linking David luiz with Barcelona. Do they have a fetish for error prone central defenders?

Woolwich Peripatetic

I think it has more to do with what Barca’s director of football thinks the job of a central defender is. Being good at tackling/heading and positioning is secondary to passing ability and ball retention in their system. They also need to have good recovery pace as they’re often going to be miles away from their own box when a ball comes floating over the top of midfield.

TeeCee

I always reckon that David Luiz is the result of a project to create a perfect CB………run by Kevin Keegan.

Viennagunner

Kos will stay, I wouldn’t give him not even for 25 millions!

Heh

I think the puyol hair has something to do with the transfer. I may be wrong but I think it’s the hair!

Why isn’t my reply put as a reply. I look stupid. This was about david luiz and barcelona.

Arsenal: We’ve accepted a 20m bid from Bayern for you

Kos: Hmm ok

Bayern Munich: 150,000 a week on a five year contract. We’d love to have you here.

Kos: Sounds good.

Giroud: Oi Laurent, menage quatuor à ma maison?

Kos: Bye!

Bayern: ………………………

phat

if vermaelen wants to leave then he is free to go, but if he decides to stay then he may afterall he is our captain and was one of the players that criticised RVP when he left. as for koscielny, hes been brilliant, a few mistakes here and there but he is improving and has bags of courage and great work rate furthermore his best mate giroud is here so bayern cant right f*** off.

davo57

Wow . If only it was true. 20mill and we can buy a decent centre back.

qwerty

Keep enquiring, douchebags.

This summer will be a refresher as none of our starters want to leave as far as we know. We’ll haul off some deadwood, sign another CB, a DM, maybe a real winger and a Striker wit dat CL money.

I can see maybe 1 of those things happening though…
