Both Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud are looking forward to Arsenal’s final league game of the season as they aim to secure Champions League football for next season.
Wilshere, who is set to come into midfield in place of the injured Mikel Arteta, admitted there might be some nerves but in the build up there’s great anticipation to the game.
“We we know that if we win, we’re going to be playing in the Champions League or the Champions League qualifier at the beginning of next season,” he said.
“I think excitement first of all. When we get into the game, we’ll see what happens. Maybe a bit of nerves will come into it. We’ve got to be professional, do our job and get a few goals. We can’t rely on Sunderland to do a job at Tottenham. We have to win the game and then we’ll know where we will be.”
Meanwhile Giroud, who won the French title on the final day of last season, is hoping that experience will help tomorrow.
“Last year was amazing for me because we needed a win to win the championship in a game away at Auxerre. PSG won their game in Lorient so we really needed the win. It was a very special game. It was stopped two or three times by the Auxerre fans because their team went down.
“For Newcastle, it will maybe be a little bit different because Newcastle will play in the Premier League next season. I think it’s a good thing for us.
“Now we have to do the job and keep focused on our qualities and our game. Never mind if they are a little bit relieved, they will maybe play without pressure. I’m not sure but I think it’s better for us.”
Go and wipe out that memory of 4-4.. Phil dowd lost his marbles that day… I hope we get a better refree this time.
Howard Webb’s refereeing our game.
United’s won the title so he may not act like a cunt. It’s better than having Mike ‘Wenger has hadwild anal sex with all of my female relatives’ Dean.
ooba
Eloquent shit man
We (starting Diaby) basically self destructed that day. It should never have happened, Dowd or no Dowd.
Of course I want the win first and foremost, but it would be lovely to bang a few in and snatch up 3rd from the racist-team-mate-wife-banging John Terry
Can only assume JT himself was on here to thumb you down.
* twice
I want Giroud straight back in, not just for his hold up play and attacking qualities but just as much for his help defending set pieces.
Our defensive striker <3
Giroud is basically whoring himself out to be in the starting xi. Good on him.
Poldi to go left, santi to be our no.10. Simple!
I know this might be off topic but the first 6 months of 2010/11 season and the final three of this season will definitely hand the title to us next season.COYG
Yeah.. Off topic, since 2 years ago
I worry about Wilshere playing tomorrow. He hasn’t looked fit all season and you have to wonder just how he will cope with this massive game. I don’t believe any of that rubbish which Pardew said: he will want to beat us tomorrow.
It’s gonna be tense.
You are right. Wilshere has looked off pace all season. The problem is that he is the most viable option in the team in terms of playing mentality and experience. While Le Coq is defensive minded, he does not seem to have enough experience and bringing in Ox or Caz would mean a thoroughly imbalanced team. I worry too but this is the best option for us.
not all season? he was excellent before his injury
The problem with playing wilshere is that there is a risk of aggravating his injury and also that he might not play as well due to the inhibitions of his injury…… I think bring in giroud, shift podolski to cazorla role… Cazorla to rosicky role, rosisky to ramsey role and ramsey to arteta role….. The only disadvantage of this is that our only attacking options from the bench are gervinho and ox….. But I think that risk is favourable to the risk of playing a talented player carrying an injury and going through lack of form…..
The other disadvantage is defensive. Tomas does important work in closing down midfield players, and tackling back when the opposition counters. Will Santi be up to that role?
@Arty
probably not……. so if we want to play wilshere….. in his current condition he cannot keep running around like ramsey nor he is defensively capable enough to play as a defensve midfielder………. so probably ramsey will be the dm…… rosicky will paly in place of ramsey and wilshere will play no. 10……….. although that too is risky considering that such an impostacnt position is to be given to a guy who lacks fitness and form…….. maybe we should play ox there and keep wilshere on the bench……..
I’d like to see Coquelin given the nod as the DM to be honest. He has played well for us at times and he’ll be eager to preform.
I agree I wouldn’t risk Wilshere either, unless he is fit and I suppose only the boss knows that.
Either way Arsene knows, i’ll just be backing the team.
COME ON ARSENAL!

Howard Webb’s not the worst ref once United aren’t involved.
We’re still owed two penalties from that 4-4 and the limp body of Joey Barton.
I’m predicting a tidy 2-0 with Everton doing us a favour.
that’s not predicting….. It’s called hoping…. Ecxcept perhaps our last game , which of our recent games have been ‘tidy’? And asking everton to do us a favor at Stanford bridge is not exactly a small favour….. I think we have to win by two goals and hope everton somehow manage to draw at chelsea…. That’s all we can ask…. Although I cannott begin to express how I would love to eat my words…..
Everton have conceded one goal in the last 6 games they played.
They are capable of holding a tired Chelsea who are lacking the pace of Ramirez.
Even in that case we still have to win by two goals, Arty, that’s the most important thing… after winning at all.
There are goals in this team. We can do this!
is it just me, or does anyone else find me the ‘….’ excruciating to read?
I hope we win like 4-0 and Chavski draw 1-1 or something I want to see us not have to play the play offs for 3/4th and go to No.3 on GD
Nikos Dabizas
We have a great chance of winning. Newcastle are missing many of their better players and have their 3rd choice goalie in the team. I am almost certain of a win.
Also I am gunning for Everton to take advantage of a tired and/or apathetic Chelski. Not even thinking about the spuds really.
I’d prefer a 3-1,4-1 scoreline. Cos its hard to believe newcastle won’t score.. Hoping for moyes bunch of thugs to do us a favor…. Coyg
When you are asking someone to so you a favour, you better not call them thugs….. Rather say something like…”O you wonderful team of amazing footballers….. Please draw at chelsea and we sol give you chamakh and park free !!!”……..
It will be 3-1 to arsenal but ill have Valium, whiskey and a councillor on stand by if them spurs cunts top us
Eric, if we win they can’t touch us.
Forever in our shadow!
what is up with pro pic of yours?
Harsh,
It’s anti-Chav and anti-Burberry wearing muppets.
True:)
Wilshere better be ready with no Mikel.
Although last season the only game we won without Mikel was WBA away.

Also what happens to Arseblog during the summer? Surely not enough happens to merit a post every single day? (I mean I know blogs’ is good and all, but this happened During the season http://arseblog.com/2013/05/bank-holiday-nonsense/)
Lets hope Sky’s Martin Tyler is sounding gloomy and depressed at the end of tomorrows game. That will be a sure sign that we’ve won.
I think you’re confusing him with someone else – Martin Tyler isn’t a prick about Arsenal. Pick literally any other commentator and you would be right though.
There are 9 different possible sequences of results tomorrow between arsenals and spurs game. We finish above them in 7 of them. So basically we have a 78% chance of finishing above them.. Those figures make me feel a bit less nervous than I did before
However, the probabilities for each of those sequencies to occur are not equal….though whatever makes you feel better works and all that 🙂
The probability that Gareth Bale is a cheating cunt is also quite high.
I’d love to shove Gareth Bale’s heart celebration up his arse!!
Yeah, lets see him trademark that!
Would love to see all our players do it tomorrow when they score. Would be so funny.
Maybe Ramsey could do it while sticking his tongue out, and Giroud could simultaneously pull Ramsey’s ears out like a money.
I would pay to see you shove something as abstract as another person’s celebration up their own arse!
Can you do Van Persie’s fist…
oh wait.
I think not Meh. I first noticed it a couple of years ago how down he sounded when arsenal led Man U. at half time. All laughs and jokes at full time as united came back to win. Tuesday nights commentary for the wigan game was the most biased I’ve heard for a long long time.
You could well be right but I’ve never noticed it. I have to say I fucking loathe many of the others and god forbid Eric Wynalda is on if I have to watch a U.S. stream… Fucking hell. I have a different view. I heard years ago that he is in fact an Arsenal fan and merely says he’s a lifetime Woking fan to avoid accusations of bias. True, I haven’t got a source for that – it was years ago (98?). And his favourite ever Premier League moment he said is us going undefeated. Not saying I’m right, just… Read more »
Totally shitting myself about the weekend. The prospect of Wilshere as a starter worries me as well, I must admit. He’s looked a bit off to me in his past few cameo appearances. I’m 50/50 on whether Giroud should be handed a start given Poldis 2 goals this week. Having said that, you can guarantee Giroud will have fresh legs and be raring to go for this fixture. Praying that my fears will not materialise. Come on Arsenal!
I feel that we’ll have a good go at the Champions League next year. I truly do. I think we are solid in defence (keep Sagna). Have no major problem with either keeper. As for the rest I consider Cazorla and Podolski to be our major players in our creative and goal-scoring aspects of the game. Therefore I think we should seek to complement these two with a couple of equally efficient others. I have no clue who these should be, but could narrowing down the searches to a German and a Spanish work? 😉 Come on you rip-roaring gunners.
Not shitting myself at all tbh.
What will be will be etc….
COYG!!!!!
I have a couple of books on the history of The Arsenal and they were co-written by Martin Tyler and some other bloke. I reckon he is a closet Gooner actually….
Meh ,maybe i’m just paranoid !
Feeling very concerned about tomorrow (but in truth, I would be if Arsenal was playing St. Mary’s School for Girls. But this team has shown a tendency to play cautiously and nervously in big games. Would love to see them come out boldly and confidently but that team hasn’t shown up in other big games this year.
Lately they’ve been coming out roaring. We’ve had quite a few great starts recently. I hope they come out that way, with a goal within 5 minutes. And this time, I really hope they continue to take their chances, and keep Newcastle out of the game. No complacency. No handbreak. That end of season brilliance we used to come up with Henry-Bergkamp days.
@MEH Yh i dont think martin tyler hatesarsenal just check out this vid on momemnt of the decade youtube.com/watch?v=1sZVj2W_K8Q
Last summer the Arsenal CEO, Board, Management, Coaching staff and all the players assurred the Arsenal faithful that Arsenal were no longer just a ECL qualifying team. The Wenger trophy jokes were over. Scrambling on the last day of the season was a distant memory. We were lead to believe the team was ready to win the EPL and for the first time the Champions League. However Premier league passed us by in October, fourth tier Bradford stopped our run in the Capital, and second tier Blackburn embarrased us in the FA cup 5th round while Bayern beat us easily… Read more »
OMG! I’m, like, soo totally fooled by your use of ‘we’ and ‘us’… omg this must be how all Gooners feel!!
00Wanker
When we don’t score, it’s all typical Arsenal and blah blah blah… they should be winning… then 3 go in and at 4-1 they are like it was coming all day, too much quality… still should have been way ahead and all that… The thing is, it’s understandable that commentators take to the underdogs but when it’s other top teams especiallly United, it’s all, “They will score soon enough” or “Fergie will turn it on blah di blah”… And not to mention when we are the underdogs, all they do is shit on us. But that’s what I love. Against… Read more »
If it goes bad this site’ll be blighted by spuds humming of lifelong humiliation; lasagna upchucks, Fulop chucks, Harry ‘chucks’, the greedy overreaching of the Gross (new Wenger) and Graham (old Wenger) appointments, Jol out loud, etc.
We should suspend infighting, and hope Blogs is busy with his IP fungacide. Now if he could only see his way to systematically altering what they say to comic effect…
Come on Arsenal.
I’m pleased we’re playing away. They won’t feel the pressure of the crowd’s expectations

Newcastle players offered share of money to beat arsenal after pardews comments what a bunch of cunts
Sorry it’s non football staff 1 million bonus if they best us
Maybe Wenger will offer the players a 2 million pound bonus now xD
