Per Mertesacker and Jack Wilshere have hailed the impact of super sub Nicklas Bendtner.
The big Dane got Arsenal’s opening goal in yesterday’s 2-0 win against Cardiff, and both players spoke about the goal and his performance afterwards.
“It’s tough when you’re on top but keep missing chances,” Wilshere told Arsenal Player. “But then Nick came on and fair play to him because he’s worked hard in training and got the goal for us. That gave us some breathing space.”
The BFG said it was an illustration of a squad that has options, saying, “It was a vital goal from Nicklas. He did it against Hull as well when he stepped in for Olivier Giroud, and this time you saw how vital it is to have the depth in the squad.
“It’s important to have a second proper striker who comes in and just does what he usually does.”
Jack also paid tribute to the spirit in the side, as they kept going to secure three vital points.
“If we had only got a point out of the game we would have been very disappointed. It’s always nice to win a game like that and take it into the next one – it gives us all a little boost.
“We kept digging away and showed great character.”
Nick, you are a changed man. Quick recovery!
I’m glad he’s got out of that ruff patch
The Bendnter Redemption
Don’t say that or he’ll soon be TGATEL
My Left Foot 2?
TGRTEW The Greatest Redemption That Ever Was
Get well soon Nick my man.
COYG!!!
Truly happy for Nick, I believe he has had his demons but he seems to have left them behind. So sad to see him injured especially when we need him. Speedy recovery dude. All the best.
All hail LORD B!
Cheers nic good goal buddy. more of the same plz when youve recovered.
Nice atmosphere at the Emirates after Nic’s goal. Real shame about his injury, but he did at least get a mini lap of honour as he hobbled around the sidelines back to the tunnel. A long time since the stadium reverberated with his name, well and truly deserved yesterday!
Never forget arsenal vs barca during the warm up when Bendtner smashed the ball as hard as he could at an open goal from just outside the penalty area, missed, flew over my head and hit a lady a few rows back holding a hot cup of coffee which exploded everywhere. It was coffee Armageddon and quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever seen at a football match (lady was ok).
…you’ve come a long way Nick. Quick recovery
Its official we thrive off big imposing forwards. Our formation dictates that, Podolski is not a bad C.F not in the slightest but putting him alone up there is asking too much of the fella.
Bendtner too is different from Giroud as he can take on his opponent he was almost playing like a no.10 when he came on yesterday. we’re trying to do something big this year and i think bendtner has seen that and whats to be part of it…. get well soon.
I can understand the excitement, but isn’t it a bit too early to be going gung ho about Bendtner? It was after all only 35 minutes against relegation-threatened Cardiff.
Ever heard of credit where its due?
I thought ninjas were meant to be unseen…
Nice comment He
Am I the only one who reads what the players and Arsene says in their voice?
Yes.
Nope I do that all the time.
Strong rumors that Wenger is about to sign Berbatov from Fulham. I actually thing it would be a smart move: yes, I know he’s an ex-Spurs and Man United, but he’s a quality finisher who could make a real difference. Also, he’s cheap and available and already settled on London.
Whomever Wenger signs, he need to move quickly now: we need to sign somebody before the next Premier League game against Aston Villa a week next Monday.
His attitude is worse than my arse being asked to shit out the lyrics to Miley Cyrus’ songs.
Berbatov is too lazy to play for us.
Too old, Too lazy, — I was going to say too not 6’3″, but he is apparently, although Giroud feels to be about half a foot taller.
Really talented guy but offers nothing we don’t have, and not what we need
I disagree. I think Fats might be right with Berbatov. He is capable of playing with his back to goal and he is able to hit those shots and half volleys which OG and Bendter can’t. He isn’t as strong as the other 2 but he is quite different.
It’s funny how fans’ opinion on players can change just like that. We playas, us fans, but we do praise when praise is deserved.
It was clear to see yesterday that Bendtner is a better option than Podolski to spearhead the attack when Giroud is absent. I’m a big Podolski fan but from the left, he’s far more dangerous arriving later in the box, plus he offers little aerial threat and one of his best attributes is that he has a great delivery from the left which can’t be made use of if he plays centrally.
A shame that Bendtner is injured, bar the Chelsea League Cup game, I’ve been pretty impressed each time he’s played this year.
I hate to say it, but Giroud wouldn’t have scored that goal
Of course not. He’s left-footed
Have always liked bendtner and its a shame that chamakh came in and really pushed him to 3rd choice and forced him to go on loan. Stunted his development. Theres a reason hes one of our top goalscorers still playing.
Sign him up Arsene. Along with rosicky & sagna. If sagna is on his way I wouldnt mind testing everton for seamus coleman. Bellerin needs a year or two
Great team spirit and attitude shown yesterday when under pressure to win. Massive credit to Nick for the breakthrough and all the best for a speedy recovery. I’m beginning to come round into thinking we should keep him. Not as a regular in the starting lineup but he makes a great impact sub similar to podolski.
Of course major credit is due to Bendtner. Can never forget about our defensive power as well which in most of our opinions has been super strong throughout all competitions so far. With this foundation from the back this team now has something concrete to rely on, a backbone so to speak. Despite my love affair with out defensive duties, Jackie showed us why we Gooners and the boss rate him so highly. Took on defenders, pushed the team on, aggressive tackling. Saw glimpses of that complete midfielder we all know the young boy can become! On the next one… Read more »
Bendtner makes more front pages!

That’s from 2010.
LANS
I’ll admit I was slagging Bendtner off at the start of the season, but he’s come along nicely. I still think we should get another CF, but I’d like Bendtner to stay as our 3rd choice CF, if he’d be happy with that.
This time of the year we need 3 strikers. Injuries will starting to be recular problem at Arsenal untill end of the season. Get Bendtner more chances he will be Big Ben Again as we know several years ago. Bendtner does he suppose to: score vital goal in hard games. He seems more important player than Giroud does. His national stats are impressively rediculous but why not he uses to his Club? He have more score rate than Benzema and Rooney in International games. I hope You hope and We hope he gets quick recorvery. We need him this time… Read more »
I think Nick’s possessed by some striker spirit that has an unfinished business
Thanks for the goal nick but we still dony want you . COYG
You are actually Park ain’t yeah, Parker?
Personally I would take a fit and firing Bendtner over Berbatov.
I think bendtner can be come that great striker he always thought he was going to be he’s big strong presence like imbrahimovic good feet he can be main man as long as he works hard I think he has better conversion rate than giroud
This season, yes, perhaps his strike rate is better than Giroud’s. But it’s a pretty small sample size. Talking about Bendtner’s strike rate right now is like recalling Solskjaer’s four goals in an eleven minute substitute appearance and noting that it projects to 1244 goals in a season.
In the picture it looks like Per is thinking “Twat”.
Maybe. I’m quite sure this is what Bendtner is saying
http://imgur.com/C0FCBuu
This is classic – Bendtner is the world’s greatest villain and the cause of all of Arsenal’s woes. He’s the most evil man to have walked the earth in centuries and is the single reason we haven’t won anything in 8 years. I wish he was dead.
*scores one goal*
The redemption! I never said a bad word about him! I knew he’d come good! He’s world class, just want we need, reformed man, the final piece of the jigsaw! Someone erect a bronze statue!
Is there no chance that, just for once, we can have some balance?
No
Sadly, no. I freely admit I was one of the ones saying we should sell him for a bag of balls during the summer. I am now eating my words.
Admit it: we were thinking the same thing about Rambo last season…
Nick is 25 , 26 in a couple of weeks, so still a very young man. Yes , he sometimes behaves like a knob as he is obviously still immature but he will grow up eventually and become a proper man and when he does so , hopefully sooner rather than later, he could blossom into an awesome centre forward.
Let’s get behind him and support him…..
COYG
Whatever happened to us signing Kostis Mitroglou ?
He would be perfect……
Bendtner situation:
He doesnt try, thinks he can jump on the gravy train somewhere else but finds out that he cant. He gets rightly slagged.
Major dose of reality….a manager who knows his players inside out…and a determination of a bad boy who wants to do good after seeing that the grass isnt always greener….and we have back in the fold a very technically gifted player. Gooners always love a tryer..
I think Nick has finally learnt to let his football do the talking.
Is Chuba Akpom fit and not out on loan? He could make a good addition to the first team.
