Frustrated Ramsey calls for Gunners charge

Aaron Ramsey admits his prolonged spell on the sidelines has been incredibly frustrating but hopes that his return to action can help spur the Gunners to a strong finish in the Premier League as they chase the fourth Champions League spot.

Limping off at Upton Park on Boxing Day the Welsh midfielder was initially ruled out for three weeks before a series of setbacks saw him miss more than three months of action; a period during which the Gunners’ title-chances were frittered away.

Required to play more than 100 minutes on his first start since regaining fitness against Wigan at Wembley, the 23-year-said Arsenal should enjoy the prospect of an FA Cup final as they try and track down fourth-placed Everton.

“I’m just delighted that we’ve got through to the final. It’s a great feeling. We’re going to enjoy that day.

“It’s been a really frustrating time for me. We never expected the injury to take so long. Things were going so well for me when I got the injury and I was itching to get back out there and help the team as soon as possible. It was a disappointing time and I’m just happy to be back.

“The team were flying when I was injured and we’ve definitely had a few bad results recently, especially away from home against the top teams. That has damaged the confidence a bit.

“But we are in the final of the FA Cup and we’re still battling for fourth so we have a great chance to end our season on a high.

“It could be one of the most successful years at Arsenal for many years. So we still have a lot to play for.

“It was difficult for me to be sitting there and watching. I was trying really hard to get back as quickly as possible and it was so frustrating sitting on the sidelines.

“But I’ve had a bit of experience of that and now I just want get back out there and help my team finish strongly.”

It’s certainly good to have the Welsh Jesus back, but you’d have to say it would be surprising if he started tomorrow night against West Ham.

We’re no medical experts but we’d guess, pushing him to play for as long as he did at Wembley is a dangerous game so soon after a long lay-off. Kallstrom offers an alternative (in the continued absence of Flamini) and hopefully there’ll be an update on Rosicky in today’s press conference.

Deep inside he knows his absence has cost us the league title. Love Ramsey!

league title? we’re scrapping for fourth.

When is Flamini back? One good thing is that he’ll be fresh, right? Guys? Bueller?

smh

Flamini will be available after the West Ham game because it was a 2-game suspension.

Available at the weekend (2 game suspension.) Everton’s form is very good, but their away form is nothing to write home about. Ozil could be back this weekend. Kos should be back too. Possibly for tomorrow night. Cup win and 4th would be very nice. Just please….no Chelsea title win. I’m not to keen on Liverpool either. The commentator on TV went apeshit when Liverpool scored and was incredibly downbeat when City scored. Scouse bias in the media and the fact we’ll never hear the end of it. Trust me. It will be unbearable. However, no Chelsea title please. Wouldn’t… Read more »

i couldn’t care less who wins the league as long as we get 4th and win the cup now. would seriously hinder our transfer plans to not be in the champs league and it’s clear we need to do some business this summer. even with 4th, we will likely have to wait until we have got through the qualifier to sign any real quality. bloody frustrating season when you see how well pool have done with an inferior squad, although not having to play in europe has been a major bonus for them. if we don’t get 4th then we… Read more »

Get the gist of what you’re saying but I would hardly call Liverpool’s strike force inferior

HoHoHo Green Gooner

They weren’t in Europe this year and got lucky with injuries. This year they’ll have to buy buy buy for Champs League. Expect regression.

I actually feel sick even posting this, but has nobody thought of Chelsea winning the Champions league? Costas out now and Athletico won’t play Courtois.

“It could be one of the most successful years at Arsenal for many years. So we still have a lot to play for.” I think that is the most important thing to focus on now (for the players).

No disrespect to Hull, but they’re safe in the knowledge that they’re relatively clear of the relegation dogfight and so don’t have much to worry about between now and the final. We, on the other hand, have a fucking mountain to climb. But we can most certainly do it – starting with Wet Ham tomorrow.

Win it and worry no

West ham will be a hard game. An allardyce team……with andy carroll. We got to get 3 points no matter what! COYG

Hull can enjoy their first cup final and the Europa league competition next year when we get fourth but that trophy is ours, we need to lift it more than they do!

Come on, you’d have to be extremely one eyed not to wish Liverpool and Gerrard well now that Arsenal are out of the title race. The way they play entertains fans and neutrals alike andtheir captain deserves credit for his loyalty in times like this.

Also, you can’t really blame the commentator, it was the anniversary of Hillsborough, after all.

^^ Fuck Pool, and Gerrard is an insolent twat. I’d rather see City lift the league title. At least they have a shit load of money. If Pool wins we will never hear the end of it. They got so lucky with Suarez and Sturridge turning into superheroes. I want them trophyless and back to Earth next season.
