As expected, Carl Jenkinson has joined West Ham on loan for the duration of the 2014-15 season.
After the purchases of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle and Calum Chambers from Southampton, the former Charlton man’s playing time would have been seriously dented and his development halted even further.
With Sam Allardyce under instructions from West Ham’s owners to move away from the staid, negative football he is associated with, he’s plumped for Jenkinson whose crossing and energy down the right hand side can be very effective.
Whether that’s enough to un-Allardyce the Hammers remains to be seen. It’s also a big season for the lifelong Gooner who really has to make a big impact at Upton Park to have any real chance of a long-term future with us.
Although he signed a five year deal at the same time as Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere back in 2012, he hasn’t really been able to force his way into regular first team contention.
Speaking about his move, he told West Ham’s official site, “I was flattered to have a lot of options but, deep down, if I was being honest with myself West Ham was always the place I wanted to go to.
“It’s one of them where I wanted to do the right professional thing and consider all the options, but in the back of my mind it was always West Ham and I’m just so glad it’s all worked out how I wanted it to in the end.
“It will be brilliant to play here. I’ve got a lot of friends who are West Ham fans and I know how good the supporters are here. I’ve played here a couple of times so I know exactly what it is all about, so it’s going to be fantastic to be a part of that, to be honest. You get a great atmosphere here and the fans are great, so I just can’t wait to get a West Ham shirt on and get on the pitch.”
We wish him luck.
I want ronaldinho at arsenal.
And I just want a million dollars! *extends his hands hopefully*
I’d rather get Henry if we’re going for a forward older than 33. Not that we are though.
What????? U’ve got to wake man, this is 2014
I’m not gonna lie, Ronaldinho would add close to nothing to us quality wise, but the guy is pretty fucking cool, and would add some definite swagger to the squad
I love him
As its a loan deal it seems wenger still has plans for him. Really hope he gets experience and comes back to kick on in red and white. Poor lad seemed depressed in his 1st interview for west ham
I like him a lot! Really want him to do well and come back to us. Suddenly I am going to follow the team I loved to hate!
I dunno how many of us read this, I guess its the best Jenkinson article to date.

cheering for you Jenko.. go kick ass!
Good luck corporal, see you in a year
For some reason I don’t want to explain I’m going to Upton Park in October to see WH play against QPR. It suddenly became much more interesting. It’s gonna cost a lot but I am enforced to have something like this made for me:

Good Luck Corporal!
LANS Jenks next season!
He then becomes LANS Corporal Carl Jenkinson……
Meh
Perfect for all sides involved. Crucial game time for Jenkinson, West Ham will gain a good RB to replace Demel, and Chambers will get a decent amount of game time as a back up right back and 4th choice CB. BTW, Quintero links came out of no where. Does this mean Cazorla will leave?
Best of luck Jenko, rooting for ya.
Top banter from the Corporal
Come on Jenko! Grasp your chance to impress with both hands. Future Arsenal RB.
Pure anti hammer banter….. Errr yeh good luck Jenko
I am very positive about Jenk’s future with arsenal. This is part of the plan, is a good development step, and will be great experience so he can be our first choice right back in a couple of years.
Best of luck bud. Lets hope you find your way back soon.
Best wishes Corporal….wishing you a successful loan spell.
According to twitter, Juan Fernando Quintero (another Central Midfielder!) is on his way to Arsenal. i honestly had no idea who he is….just saw this video of him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGDXDho43TE …not bad!
But don’t we have like 1 million central midfielders already? lol …. Don’t you just love Arsene? lol
We have been very active in this transfer market, however i am very worried at the prospect of going into the season with Arteta as the first choice DM.
True – DM needs to be our first priority, even higher than CB in my opinion.
we need input from el paso goober and corpus cristi cannon guy, right?
Give’em hell, Jenko!!
It was a pleasure seeing you play over here in NY. “What do ya think of Tottenham?!”, classic lad, classic!
His first game is against spuds too! The Walrus would do well to start Jenks in that one!
You know he will bust his ass for them against the spuds. It would be silly not to start him
Guess we can say he has got the “CARL” !!!!
boom
im leaving *coat, keys
wat
Look up “cull” pal!
he’s not going to do that…and i don’t blame him
You can do it Jenks
Hope he does well. Would have preferred him at Swansea where he’d learn to pass properly but this is decent. Love the guy.
According to twitter, Carzola might be leaving too? Damn
I’m grateful for that monster first season he had
And Most Importantly,
That FA Cup final free kick goal!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klG9UKoJvpo when the chips were down
The whole of twitter? Or some random asshat who never had a single thought that a talkshite sport “reporter” didn’t have first?
Haha, well said!
Do yourself a favour and forget you ever knew about twitter.
should have been jack so that i would get to say jack hammer for no reason and some other shit puns…im kidding im kiddin.
Imagine him being loaned to Stoke. “I was hoping it would be West Ham all along to be honest, but I wanted to do the professional thing and consider all options. When I found out it was Stoke I’m heading too, though, retirement was also an additional option to consider”.
“Its one of them ”
carl you banter legend
cant wait to have you back at arsenal where you belong!
If Cazorla is leaving I want us to sign Reus if that is a possibility. Also West Ham have leveled up their banter game for year with Jenko.
He is the jenk man, whoo, he is the jenk man, whoo, fat Sam is a walrus. Coo coo ka chu
all the best corporal jenko. in other news, skysports are reporting that arsenal are closing in on signing colombian attacking midfielder- juan qiuntero, it remains to be seen though and where is ospina? cant seem to find him with the first team squad that made the austria trip.
Masterstroke by Wenger… Jenks to a team that loves defending-that will teach him how to defend. I’d say send Gnabry to Southampton or Swansea albeit I’d go for the former as he will get more game time plus a good football philosophy to continue his learning. Besides, John Terry is still a cunt as at today-source:caughtonthebridge.com
Farewell Jenks, see you next season!
And a big welcome to yet another south american: Juan Fernando Quintero!
Best of luck to Jenkinson in the upcoming year. Help us out with a few performances against the likes of those plastic flag waving racists across town and the scum down the road. Perhaps Fat Sam can teach him how to be better in the air and better with his defensive organization/concentration. Oh, and if you get the chance, give RvP a kick in the bollocks.
Regarding the JF Quintero links- he’s a bit of an unknown quantity. If it happens, I could see him being loaned out for a season and then potentially joining up in 2015/16.
“he’s a bit of an unknown quantity”. No, not really, the kid’s class.
Doubt we’ll sign him though.
I’ll give anyone 20/1 that he’ll never play for Arsenal again..
.
I’ll take that. $100 bet suit you?
I think this is a good move for Jenks. He should get plenty of practice defending at West Ham and to boot, like I said before, the boy is outlet out wide with a good cross on him.
If he can get good crosses into the likes of Caroll etc. in games against our rivals maybe the hammers can do us some favours this year
Who in the world is quintero! Instead of James ‘HAMEZ’ Rodrigues, we’re getting his unwanted half brother. Don’t go back to your old ways arsene.
He’s actually quite a talent. People tend to make sweeping statements, but I’ve heard experts praise his performance and call him ‘the next Messi’. Not that I believe all of that talk, but I’ve seen him personally at the World Cup and I thought he was pretty good, then I heard he was just 21 and I was even more impressed. Don’t think we need him in our team, but I’d still like to see him sign for Arsenal, even if he spends the next season on loan to another club.
Allardici knows…..how to hoof!! Good luck jenks especially against spuds, chavs, mancs and mugsmashers. C u nxt ssn.
I have to be honest: that’s the most honest Carl Jenkinson interview I’ve ever read. To be honest.
I like to think Jenkinson is a regular Arseblog reader and spazzes over new signings and good news like we do…reveal your identity Carl!
We’ve really bantered him off there. HOPE YOU MAKE IT JENKO YOU LEGEND
I wish him the best of luck at West Ham. I really hope he proves himself, so he can return and become a regular for us in time.
Also, I’m going to assume we have some sort of defensive reinforcement lined up. It would be flat out silly to send Jenkinson out on loan otherwise.
Good luck to him. I’m very fond of the guy and hope he has a great season. He should get plenty of game time so this is his chance to kick on and show the boss what he’s got.
I’d be delighted for him if he earned a place in the team next season and if he displaced that utter tripe that is Glen Johnson for England.
Work on your game, Jenko! Next sea do you’ll be back with us staking a claim on that right back position. You represent us the fans. True gooner
I might be in the minority, but if there was any truth to a loan offer for Southhampton, I think Jenko should have gone there instead.
Koeman has a strong pedigree as both a player and a manager.
Competing with Clyne rather than almost certainly getting in the team ahead of Demel tho?
All the best, Corporal. You’re a class act, a true Gooner, and in a year or two, you’ll be our number one right back.
Not happy about all these, and am scared too! Hope the boss has a plan for him at the club.
