Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says he’s excited by the new signings made this summer, and that he can’t wait for the World Cup winning trio of Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski to return.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield clash, he said, “It’s really exciting to see players like Alexis come in. It brings a good lift to the squad and I can feel it myself. You want to get to know them and try and impress them.
“You want to gel with them as quickly as possible. We haven’t even seen Mesut Ozil yet and our German World Cup winners.
“When they come back, that will give us another lift. It’s exciting times at the club.”
And although the Wembley game against City is little more than another pre-season fixture, the former Southampton man is taking it seriously.
“It’s definitely something we want to go and win,” he said. “We’re going into the game hoping to win and it is a good chance to look at ourselves before the start of the season.
“It’s a big game in its own right and one we’re approaching really seriously.”
Getting more and more excited for this game, winning another piece of silverware so soon would be a wonderful way to kick off the season!
His attitude for the new season is set. Now he just needs to stay fit and earn it in training to play more. That will be key for his development.

I’d like to see the ox given more starts in the centre this season, he’s looked impressive when played there and I believe Wenger sees his eventual position there. Not too sure it would work with him alongside Ramsey tho, someone like arena or flamini however..

Ox actually made time for the fans during Members Day yesterday, signing autographs and take selfies.
Immensely impressed for him to care enough to stick around and do this, but disappointed that the rest of the team did not have the same level of generosity.
Love Chambo, brings so much pace and energy to the team, for me he has to start.
To be honest, I’m just as excited about an excited Ox for this season.
The glimpses he showed in between injuries were just phenomenal, if he can repeat the Munich away performance on a regular basis – we will have one of the best midfielders in the world on our books.

Watched both Emirates Cup games and I will admit it was so exciting to see when Chambo has the ball. This dude got speed and prowess. He’s like a bulldozer with speed (Wilshere/Flamini on Turbo). I would be very interested to see Ox and Alexis on both flanks. And we are not talking about Walcott yet.
