Arsene Wenger says Arsenal have no new injury worries ahead of Sunday’s trip to Leicester despite a gruelling win over Besiktas on Wednesday.
The Gunners will be boosted by the return of Aaron Ramsey, who was suspended from European action in midweek, while new goalkeeper David Ospina is back in training having recovered from a hamstring problem picked up at the World Cup. The Colombian won’t make the bench this week, but could be in contention after the international break.
Kieran Gibbs and Mikel Arteta are still out, while Olivier Giroud is the other notable long-term absentee.
“Arteta will be short for Sunday and Gibbs as well,” the boss told press in his pre-game press conference.
“We don’t have any injuries from Wed night. Ramsey is available again.”
Abou Diaby played 45 minutes for the under-21s last night as they ran out 4-2 winners against West Brom. The Frenchman hasn’t yet featured for the Gunners this season but will be hoping to challenge for a place in the midfield in the coming weeks.
The boss also took the time to wish former Gunners goalkeeper Manuel Almunia all the best after the Spaniard was forced to retire with a heart condition.
“It’s very sad that he has a heart condition,” the boss said. “I think he is at an age where you can accept that he retires from competitive professional football but I hope there’s nothing bad for his future and his health.
“I gave him [more credit than others] because I played him. I think he was a great goalkeeper.”
Rambo On the Spin!
I feel dirty. I just had to
Ospina a while since he’s played
‘Ramsey’ what Sean Connery calls Remy
Don’t worry I know these jokes (if that’s what you can callum) are terrible, I’ve put one in the Chamber and will see myself off….
Help me, I’m bored
And he doth returned from his exile into the Welsh mountains. The faithful gathered, in awe, praying for more miracles. He swung his boot and made it so.
The way arsenal played the other night, I wouldn’t be surprised if I develop heart condition myself.
Guy,you are just a clown,i laugh till i shed tears! lol
please sign Cavani, Carvalho, Sokratis
make this our year
A bit optimistic there 😛 Carvalho’s the only one that could realistically happen at this stage.
I wouldn’t want Cavani anyway. Every time I’ve seen him play I’ve been really unimpressed. Sokratis is a great defender but has only been at Dortmund one season; doubt he’d be willing to leave.
Fifa manager of the year right?
I love Ramsey. And Rosicky. And arseblog.
Walcott?
Just a bit of news would be nice. How far is he from being back.
He has always said end of August from memory, so shouldn’t be far off right?
End of August for going back to training that is. Match fitness is another story.
He’s back in full training after the Leicester match. If he can get a reserves match under his belt during the break, he might be ready for Man $chitty.

And there was much rejoicing
“yayyyyy”
“It’s very sad that he has a heart condition. I
hope it’s nothing bad for his future.”??????…Like seriously now Arsene,A heart condition is always a sad situation….And like hell! its all bad for his future already-less €£€ in the duffle for him,and more spending for Health keep. Then there is Fear!, and the thought that death would giving him a wink every now and then is terrifying!..My Heartfelt condolence to you Almunia.
I think you need to buy one of those novelty mugs with the world ‘calm’ on it.
Then you need to make yourself a nice pot of tea.
Lastly, you need to work out how combining the two can help rein-in the impulse to over-punctuate a comment lest irony strikes.
WAGNER OUT!
Has a nice ring to it, that.
Cheers, M8! Ring! hahahaha
Wanky Kanu had a heart condition, and I seem to remember it turning out OK for him….
I can’t wait to see Abou on the pitch again…. I love his dribbling techniques… Rambo will score again no doubt, he can’t just stop scoring wish him an injury free season. Any hints on adition to the squard?
“AN Other”…it would have been a bit safer you make a joke with death and not a heart condition you know.Ur joy aint full with a heart condition-You will not even be able to celebrate an Arsenal victory in ur most ecstatic manner,or more dreadfully,f#uk at ur most favoured tempo!-Now that is scary.
You have a `favoured f#uk tempo’?
Chio Military – at this stage, I am very tempted to joke about your mental condition but I won’t as it would make it worse.
We’ve had just three competitive matches this season and each one has been a tad tense.
The nice thing is that each has got us a result: one fully-deserved, another (on balance) fully-deserved and a third very fully-deserved considering we played far-too-much of the 180 minutes with 20 men and they had 22 plus a bunch of officials.
I’m not sure, but I don’t think we’ve lost a competitive match since the beginning of April, so let’s keep the run going, eh? Get back to the form of the Charity Shield.
“Arteta will be sort,… Gibbs as well”. …it’s only a match-day criterion.
short, rather
Sign Cavani and carvalho please mr wenger then we wil kill all other teams in EPL & CL..
COYG
why limt ourselves to cavani and carvalho? I’d much prefer messi and mascherano!
Hell, while we’re at it, let’s get Pele and Eusebio’s ghost as well.
Almunia was Wenger’s worst ever mistake – and that’s coming from an AKB!
Cygan? Silvestre? Santos?
on a side note, am glad monreal has improved this season, its nice to also have selection problems at the left back as well, hoping we sign ribot and fingers crossed a striker
ESPN: Arsenal fans will be gutted to hear Salomon Kalou has apparently landed in Berlin to undergo a medical at Hertha before signing from Lille.
Another missed target…
He was the man to out-shine Alexis!
Say it ain’t so
Frey it ain’t so!
Diaby “LANS”
I don’t know why everyone on here is so negative to negative comments. It all comes from the same place, we care about the club. Honestly does anyone think we have a squad capable of winning the league without a top notch striker in it? You see the way we play we need a target man and Sanchez is not that guy. He’s amazing but he suits us on the left. I’m sick and tired of fitting square pegs in round holes when with some smart buys we could seriously challenge for the league. 4th is not good enough anymore…
Yeah well, cavani and carvalho might be ‘good’ buys, but they aren’t necessarily ‘smart’ buys. cazorla, arteta, ramsey, giroud were smart buys.
So it just seems a little hyperbolistic when people are out here playing football manager or chief scout, or chief executive. and in any case, why else do we have the thumbs down for?
You are wrong. Sanchez IS the top notch striker we need.
Rather than fitting square pegs in round holes, Wenger will adjust the system to fit his players.
Have faith.
“I think he was a great goalkeeper.” *eye twitch*
Nah, you’re alright.
“I think he was a great goalkeeper”. Wenger definitely has his poker face ready for deadline day.
Remember monday is deadline for transfers, then we have to look at clge fixtures.
At this point I just pray and wish for an injury-free season and current players to find some Aaronramsey-like form.
I’m done with transfer debates.
Nice to see Ospina getting closer to full fitness. I rate Szcz very very highly but it seems to me he does much better when he has someone breathing down his neck for the no 1 position. Szcz has been great since he was dropped for that Bayern game a year and a half ago but at his age it is a lot to ask not to have a drop in form at some point. Having said that Ospina will probably get crocked while on international duty with Colombia and we’ll have to bring back Almunia (heart condition included) on… Read more »
