Palace leading chase for Sanogo

According to reports in France, Crystal Palace are leading the chase to sign Arsenal’s Yaya Sanogo on loan in January.

The France under-21 international found himself leading the line in the absence of Olivier Giroud in the early stages of the season, but has since dropped down the pecking order at the Emirates.

With Giroud returning, and new signings Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez also afforded chances to shine in the centre, it looks as though Arsene Wenger is eager for the 19-year-old to garner more Premier League game time in the second half of the season.

Palace and Arsenal aren’t strangers in the transfer market. The likes of Kenny Sansom, Andy Linighan, Eddie McGoldrick, Ian Wright, Ashley Cole and Jerome Thomas have all featured for both clubs.

In recent years the Eagles took Marouane Chamakh on loan before making the Moroccan a permanent signing and last year they even tried to partner him with Nicklas Bendtner.

It wouldn’t be surprising if other clubs come in for Sanogo, who recently bagged his first competitive goal for the Gunners against Borussia Dortmund.

A front 3 of sanogo, bendtner and chamakh would be a spectacle to behold. worthy of the gods.

TeeCee

Row Z behind the opposing goal would be a dangerous place indeed.

GoonerNelly86

lol Bendtner is still at Wolfsburg, no?

Rectum Spectrum

Just until Madrid come in for him.

Runkeball

Cabbies of Wolfsburg, lock up your taxis!

Striker

with those players in the team even arsenal would get relegated, lol. Park Chu Yong anyone?!

maddyclaires

No– Bendtner is quality, at least he occasionally scores timely goals….try Sanogo, Park and Chamakh

Daft Aider

Palace would be a good move as long as he’s getting a good few games, fingers crossed on both fronts

Heroldgoon

“Chase for Sanogo” ……who woulda thought!

AK 57

Sanogo can be decent option for them as long as he keeps himself injury free.

Man Manny

…and stays on his feet – falls over too easily for my liking

Chris O

There’s nothing but positives from this news so long as he gets games (and of course stays healthy).

I think he might turn into something but he’ll only do that through game experience.

Hutch

He’s big, difficult to deal with, and confuses the fuck out of the opposition.

Gonna miss the fella.

Heroldgoon

I like the way he runs like he wants to go to his left and to his right at the same time.

Gunnerzed

Too good, and funny because its so true! #poomyselfsneezing

Bob's Mexican Cousin

Sanogo is the TFG.
Tall French Gervinho

Dane

Yaya Sanogo is 21 years old (born in 1993)

Mnydal

I’am not sure about him, palace could do better Than bringing in flops all the time.

Dan

Decent amount of game time in the prem for another side will do him a world of good.

People unfairly judge him, if you look at his injury record before he came and he had an influence in arsenal winning a trophy for the first time in 9 years

SubP

He’s 21, not 19, Andrew!

spinner

That’s one of the problems – there is an incorrect perception from many fans that Sanogo is a raw teenager. This is often cited as a ‘reason’ for his poor performances and disappointing scoring record for Arsenal. Sanogo will 22 in a few weeks. He’s older than the Ox but we don’t use call him raw and make excuses for him. Everyone has their opinions and mine is I don’t think Sanogo is or will be good enough for Arsenal. Good luck to the lad but we need a much better calibre of player than him if we want to… Read more »

The goal against Dormund showed Sanogo has something to offer. A very good goal that people forgot too fast. He held off the defender joggled the ball, passed it, got it back and slid it between keeper’s leg. He also showed he was vastly inexperienced couple of minutes later when he was sent clear towards Dormund goal and got scared or did not know what to do. Hope he comes back to us as a good option against Stoke etc..

indiegooner

Can we get Chamakh in exchange. He can play as the coveted ‘CDM’ for us.

Tazmanian Jesus

He did so successfully on fifa for me a couple years back.
But i think thats as far as that would work..

Glasgow Gunner

What’s all this about Sergio biscuits? I don’t like him much but he would be a great DM type signing.

Tazmanian Jesus

He’s 19??

Danskin

Sanogo and Chamakh are gonna crack some skulls in the PL.

i want to boff welbz and I'm not even gay

I’ve always hated palace, I hope they get him

Johnny Boy

Sanogo is nearly 22

Gunner Ethiopia

Slowly but surely, I am starting to despise fellow gooner fans. We make fun of our young players, we boo our ex-players, we disrespect the manager who gave us so much, we complain complain complain every fucking time like fickle spurs & Chelsea fans. I think this lean period has left a scar on our attitude for good. Sad, really!

Striker

Well, it is not his fault that arsene wenger decided to sign him. People tend to take out the anger on him because we can see that the lad is not going to make it in to the very top. Yet Arsene Wenger persists to play him. The lad is 22 years old or something and he is never ever gonna get to the very top. Most fans are tired of Arsene Wenger because the man that brought us success is now the man who is tarnishing the arsenal legacy. He has made us in to a complete laughing stock.… Read more »

Yo

*yawn*

GoonerN16

You speak for yourself Striker. Personally I think Sanogo has plenty of potential, he is raw and needs regular playing time, he could well ‘make it to the top’, we will see. Arsenal a ‘laughing stock’, get real.

As for Arsene ‘tarnishing the Arsenal legacy’, you’re having a larf aint ya? Grow up and get some perspective. Oh and, you have already made the above points numerous times, they certainly don’t improve with repetition, we got them the first time.

Ben

How many league titles did you win on FIFA 2015 to come to that co clusion Striker?

Arsepedant

Striker, people like you are exactly why Gunner Ethiopia is starting to despise his fellow Gooner fans. I’m with him 100% on this.

AP

‘…never changes his tactics…’ just tells me you are way out of your depth.

American Gooner

I’d have to agree my friend. I find myself visiting the comments section less and less because it is all such negative talk. Even when we win people still find something to bitch about. Arsenal are a frustrating bunch to watch sometimes, but they are OUR frustrating bunch to watch! I just can’t wait for a time when I can come to the comments section without some troll slagging off Wenger, Sanogo, Mertesacker, Szc, etc mercilessly no matter the result.

richardanus

Good luck to the lad wherever he goes. I hope it works out for him and we get a polished diamond coming back to us next season.

David

Best wishes Yaya. He’s pretty raw, but has showed some signs that he is the next Carlton Cole. Probably not good enough for Arsenal, but should have a decent career ahead of him.

Brendan

Who you gonna call?
SA-NO-GO

Saud

That’s a no go.

French God

I like him, think he will be a success given time. That is all.

oursenaul

Are you guys joking?? This is a young man playing at the upper echelon of his sport, for one of the top clubs in the world. He is not confused which what he is running, right or left. He does not “fall over too much” for your liking. Clubs are chasing him, and clubs around Europe Have been chasing him since he was a young teenager. Sanogo was one of the most sought after young strikers in Europe, before missing almost 2 full years during the most important stage of his development. And he returned to score prolifically for club… Read more »

DirtyAlexis

And he’s scored one premier league goal…

S

Idiot. It’s like you can’t use information to have perspective

spinner

When did he score a Premier League goal? I’m pretty sure he is still on zero!

Arsepedant

He didn’t, it was Champions League.

Gooner from Norf london

Good for him to get experience hopefully he will toughen up.

Striker

If their target is to get relegated then I belive they just found their man..! Come on you Yaya Saonegoal!

Martin Murray

pretty sure Sanogo’s not 19 lads

wishful thinking

AntiSpud

Gunner Ethiopia thanks for your post. It’s one single most insightful and truthful post I have seen in here for some times. Great post mate

AntiSpud

He scored 2 valid but disallowed goals in premiership! That goal against Liverpewl was scored on rebound of his shot! Girou was invisible against hull in the final until he came on! And when he did, he put a lot of weight on hulls defence hence making it happen! As football experts, you guys should know that Wenger feed him not always to score but to disrupt the adverse defense so Girou can play. Oh and also after 4 sub appearances he had more shot than chamack who was regular starter. I’m sure these guys are the same whining here… Read more »
