Akpom offered new deal as Dortmund circle

According to various reports, Chuba Akpom is set to be handed a new three-year deal to stay at Arsenal as Arsene Wenger looks to fend off the advances of foreign clubs eager to land the 19-year-old on a free this summer.

The England under-20 international, who has three first team appearances under his belt, is out of contract at the end of the season and currently allowed to speak to interested parties from abroad. He has reportedly been contacted by Feyernoord, FC Twente and Borussia Dortmund.

Akpom undertook two loan moves last year at Bradford and Coventry but could well be included in the Gunners first team set up for the rest of the season in light of the exits of Yaya Sanogo and Lukas Podolski.

Benik Afobe, two years older than Akpom, is set to complete a permanent switch to Wolves this week.

Good chance to start against Brighton, I imagine
Hope he signs, I imagine he’ll be keen to stay in England at the very least.

spinner

I hope he signs too. Real good prospect. He’s just under 3 years younger than Sanogo. If he continues to progress I would imagine he will be fully ready for first team action by the time he’s Sanogo’s age. Definitely worth trying to keep him and see he develops.

goonersaurus

It is imperative we keep him here. At least we should give him a chance. Wouldn’t want a Pogba situation here as Man Utd fans know how painful it can be.

The Ghost of Paul Robinson

Tell Klopp he’ll have him once Arsene’s retired and he’s here.

The Gimp

Leave now mate, your not going to make the first team here

RoyaleWithCheese

If he can’t make it here, why should he able to make it in another top club? Is it because Arsenal is a club where young players never get a chance to prove themselves?

UGooner

Almost certain this the plunk that was shouting at the train station, “Get out, Joel… get out while you still can!”

That was some funny shit though!

The Homeless

True that

mikeypoo

I’d be surprised if he stays on as 5th choice striker with Dortmund interested.

Jagger

Yes because Dortmund have no strikers at all.

Man Manny

Why did they wait this long? The boy wants to play. You can see the hunger every time he comes on.
It’s dicey; Welbeck, Giroud, Alexis and even Sanogo ahead of him in the pecking order.
I think Akpom and his team will look at the situation dispassionately and the case of Afobe won’t fill him with much hope…
I hope he stays but I think he will leave to where he can get regular football.

RoyaleWithCheese

His best bet would be to sign da ting and push for a loan move. If he goes to another big club it’s not like he will increase his chances of playing time, and Wenger has showed in the past that a young player will get a chance eventually. Plus, Akpom has been in Arsenal since he was 7 years old, would be somewhat weird if he suddenly decided to leave when he’s so close to getting a chance on the first team.

Pacmanjones

It’s absolutely ridiculous that he would want to leave due to lack of first team chances…he’s simply not ready…and he may well be a better prospect than Sanogo but reason why Yaya got some games is simple he is physically way ahead and further along in his development…

Be patient sign the deal and if you are good enough Wenger will give you a shot…or try being the first youth product to leave here and actually make it

Jamie

True that.. The I can think of is Seb Larsson.. and to say he ‘made it’ would be an exaggeration!

Double98

Seb though is clearly better than sunderland in terms of level and ability… he and say Henri LANSbury had the engine and the talent but just never the opportunity

Akpom DaBomb

Daft Aider

Sanogo further along in his development? that’s a load of tottenham, a steaming pile of hotspur

Emmanuel Eboue In Space

Andy Cole?

Dodgerz

He is surely one for the future if he can have the patience to wait for his time if not he should just move on. such a powerful striker

Daft Aider

Considering how well thought of he is at the club I can’t believe this is only happening now, we can hardly have made him feel wanted after playing Sanogo in front of him as well

Winrar

Wouldn’t mind seeing him going on loan to Feyenoord.

Roitenak

With Sanogo and Podolski on loans, he may well have a role to play this season.

Hope he signs a new deal and wait for an opportunity to step up.

Zelalem

Come on Chuba, sign da ting!

rossi88

Score the winner sunday boy!

Allgoonsblazing

Who says Afobe wasn’t sold on account of Chuba being the bees knees? It seems that Chuba has a better chance of making it at the club than Afobe ever will. Whatever happens, Akpom needs to be patient at Arsenal or anywhere else.

spinner

If your losing 2-1 and there’s only 3 minutes to go, then Akpom’s the guy to bring on. Boom! 3-2!

hessojay

Sign the deal, dude and wait for your chance which will come eventually…

bazza-wicks

another AFC f@@k up how did they manage to let his contract run so low looking at the squad and chances far and few he will be off and with Afobe gone too sanogo will be back with hardly any games for palace and we will have lost 2 good players……. who ever is pulling the strings has failed

i want to boff chuba and im not even gay

Get out while you can Chuba!!!

loose_cannon

I’d love it if he stayed and broke into the first team proper, but young players obviously need games to develop and staying might not always be in his interest. He does need to be patient though, for every Paul Pogba there’s like 50 David Bentleys

santori

Do a deal.

Loan to Dortmund for next season or two.

In turn give us a discount and we take wantaway Hummels off their hands.

Fasciitis

This guy feels like a special talent. Think he’s best served signing a new long term contract and going out on loan to a premier league club, as I think he is good enough for that.

Darren

Seen him play in the reserves . Very good strong player ! Always hungry for the ball and has bags of pace … looking forward to seeing him take he’s chance
