Arsenal away to Man Utd in FA Cup quarter-finals

Arsenal have been drawn against Man Utd or Preston in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The Gunners record against United in the cup has been poor in recent years, losing 2-0 at Old Trafford in March 2011, and 4-0 in 2008 – a performance so woeful that Darren Fletcher scored twice.

The previous cup meeting was in the 2005 final when Arsenal beat Alex Ferguson’s side on penalties.

Our last win over United came in 2011 when an Aaron Ramsey goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win, and in the last 7 games they’ve won 5 with two drawn.

About time we put that record right.

Oh FFS, I knew we were going to get that bunch of shit cunts.

We owe them a win up there, COYG!

SB

Two

Asheville Gunner

Preston looks like a lively place to play. Gunners are undefeated in Manchester in 2015. Looks like a road win either way. COYG!!!

Serge

Saying Gunners are undefeated in Manchester in 2015 is like saying “I’ve been to the gym everyday this year” and it’s Jan 2nd…

Hopefully we can draw this game and bring it back to our home ground and win.

Overall we have always performed well against City, Liverpool. But we always fucking suck against Chelsea, United goodbye Fa Cup 🙁

Proff Gooner

That attitude of fear not needed. It’s similar to if a girl rejects you once you’ll always be rejected and die a virgin! My friend, you need Tue attitude of Le Coq!

Forever COYG!!!

calmdown

we have won the league and fa cup there you know…

Theoptimist

Serge is right. In this case Arsenal have not given us anything to be hopeful about.

Don Cazorleone

man utd have though, they are awful. Played off the park by a team 2 leagues below them (Again). I’m happy that we get to roll up there in our current form and swing our maracas in their face

Arsepedant

You really need to change your name, mate.

Don Cazorleone

Me? Or the ol’ ironic optimist above me?

Arsepedant

The pessimist above you!

Arsepedant

You’re being a bit hard on Preston, aren’t you, mate?

Proff Gooner

We fear no one!!

COYG!!

Reactionaries

Thank god it’s not Bradford

Mc1892

Imagine putting them out the cup in March and beating them again in May to allow Southampton/ Liverpool to leapfrog them into the top four spot..

EuripidesMac

I can’t wait to get the monkey off our backs and shovel the ManUre in their own back yard. The worst thing for me though would be that we lose or draw because we got cheated out of it by Wayne Mark Robben, I mean Arjen Mark Rooney…heck, sorry I get CDC’s names confused on the time. I see us winning 3-1 and the goal that ruins the clean sheet is scored of course by “The Cheat”. But, it’s the only call he gets. Fellaini is carded off. And it’s too little, too late for the ManUre Red Deviled Sheep… Read more »

bob

what monkey

texasgooner

Bring on Preston!

CB

If we can beat City, we can win v United.

COYR.

Me So Hornsey

Bring it on! Yeah know, manure are a bogey team but so were City. And so were we to spuds. If the players are as up for it as I feel we’ll do them as we have the better squad.

It’s just down to Wenger to get the tactics right. For me Valencia is their danger man on the right flank, Rooney when he’s bothered and Fellaini when it gets physical but that’s it really, they’re pretty toothless IMO. Defensively they’re wide open and there for the taking. Really looking forward to the lads proving everyone wrong again.

Nasri's missing chinbone

On paper this is ours to lose. Bad enough he scored against us in that semi, but if we lose to that wanker who shagged his brother’s wife for 10 years another time I just don’t think I could stomach it. I would love to see a repeat of Gabriel’s yellow card on the skunky mercenary pursestrings chap they have up top as well.

CB

Though I would bet on another Rooney dive. If he can do it to deny us a 50th undefeated match he can do it in an FA Cup quarter final.

SB

Reading only the report and not watching the game, I think, ManU were helped along through to the last eight.

Those cunts will have the home advantage in terms of the crowed, ground and mainly the ref, against us!

So when we win, it will be so sweet!

rayaan

Well shit…

Abzey

Home or away, the chances of Manure beating us is very low no disrespect to them. Lets hope this is not another very lucky game for them… how many have they just about gotten away with this season playing like absolute shit?

Jonfaxejensen

Unfortunately the stats and recent history show you are wrong. our chances our winning this tie are in the low 20%s, so the logical thing to expect is a cup exit… Unless the team can change a habit they’ve always had… Which they probably won’t.

Corona X

Ehm… City away?

Gargoyle

Ehm…Spurs away? For every good away performance there is an absolute shite one. And when you take into account our recent record against the better teams you will see that there is only a small chance of winning this one.

Serge Blanco

Gargoylw- I know what you mean but local derbies ate a totally different kettle of fish to ordinary matches especially away from home. Remember all three of Wenger’s title winning sides failed to win at WHL against weak Spurs sides. My fear for this game is that cup ties can be a bit like derbies. Add in that we will be half way through our CL tie and I think our chances reduce a bit more as we will probably rest a few players. Tight game though.

calmdown

you can predict the future?

gooner 44

lets hope Lucky van gael runs out of luck
l ate ol trafford now we’ve gotta win up there twice,
Can B done C O Y G.

Mootilated

I’m not trying to be negative, but their chances of beating us in the last game were very low too, and even though we dominated, they steal managed to get the 3 points. I’m not saying we will win or lose. But I cannot help but feel worried.

Brent

So, Preston North End, then?

Biishopp

I had a dream last night in which we beat Man U in the FA cup and woke up to see this fixture. Before people say this is just me rambling, I live in Thailand, and normally sleep early so tend to get results from evening fixtures the next day in the morning..

When I woke up, I thought it was just another dream, but then visited an online football website and saw the FA cup draws from yesterday and …

I am not some prophet but I am feeling very optimistic.

GoonerN16

Bishopp, are you a relative of Rambling Pete? And if so do you know where I can contact him? I hope he is aright he ain’t been around for a while.

GunnerJake

Imagine beating the cunts from Manchester at old trafford. Bring it on!

Wenger's Bottle

*cunts from London

Ed ' Braces

Why did this get trashed? London jibes always wind them up. People not getting it?

Exiledgooner

I’m prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt and suggest that that’s a reference to the fact that most Manchester United ‘fans’ are renowned for being glory hunters who know nothing of football, and who hail from all over the country, but seldom Manchester itself. I can attest to the fact that London is infested with that sort of footballing vermin. However, should you actually be a Manchester United ‘fan’, I must invite you to fuck off at your earliest convenience, and seek help addressing whatever flaws in your character compelled you to follow such a nasty bunch… Read more »

Wenger's Bottle

I am an Arsenal fan my comment was misunderstood.

Tommygun

i thought it was funny mate, there are just 61 fairly stupid people that disliked your comment.

DuckandChips

As a Londoner living in Manchester for the last year, the United fans are alright up here. Always up for a joke and they’re more respectful to Arsenal than you might think – indeed, than I thought (before I moved up here).
Same as City fans too. I tell you something strange though, there’s a lot of Gooners in Bolton (Bolton born and bred).

DuckandChips

…as in, people born and bred in Bolton supporting Arsenal.

Exiledgooner

I grew up a Gooner in London during the 90s, where all the kids naturally supported Manchester United. I got so much stick for it, despite my indignant protests that it was the local team. It got worse following our first League win and subsequent rivalry. Consequently I have a hatred of Manchester United and the majority of their fans, although as a fellow Londoner now in the North, I can attest that the actual Manc fans are alright as a general rule. It’s just that they’re few and far between, and I sadly teach quite a few kids here… Read more »

“Fucking Millwall!”
Could give a fuck who we draw. We play to our best, we win this thing.

Hell yes. Fuck those twaty cunts

haha, freeloader

Let’s go Preston!!!
Although would love to knock the skunk and his cronies out in the next round. We owe the mancs some payback

COYG

DublinGooner

Would be great to see an invincible tie.

LKoscielny6

Fuck sake wanted a home tie at all costs! Steven shitface gerrards Liverpool got an easy home tie to keep his birthday dream alive, ffs!

gooner 44

never did like that cunt hodgson
couldnt pick iz noze TWAT,
never mind do it th ard way.
COYG.

TeeCee

Oh well, I suppose we’ll just have to get to the final and ruin his day there then.

Dreamer

No it will be in the semi when he will slip and lets Akpom score to make it 3-1 to the Arsenal.

Mobie01

For the love of Christ Preston pls beat Manure 😀

wellarsed

There goes that then. If Man U win tonight then I think our FA Cup run is over. We seem incapable of beating them, even at their very worst. Let’s hope for a dramatic reversal of recent history – or a Preston upset!

Man Manny

If it’s United (and that’s a big if), then it’s pay back time. We will certainly beat them. The best they can do is to postpone the doomsday and force a replay.
See you at Wembley – certainly.

Jeff

Fucking fixed as usual

True Red

I’ve said this for years. They don’t want us to meet the Manc scum in the semi or final just in case it turns nasty and ruins their showpiece games

diygooners

Y’know, preston vs manutd the stats of the shot is 10 to 9 & on target is 6 to 6. The possession is 30% smtg to 60%. Then, thats mean preston is not shit it’s just manutd luck to win the game. Yeah, they won bcs of rooney’s dive in the penalty area & the shits of fellaini goal. That was just luck. We can win this match, COYG!

Fatgooner

Utterly shit draw. They are well beatable but we have to turn up. I have a nasty feeling that get again we won’t.

DialSquareGoon

Head vs. Heart if we get those fuckers. I would love to see us destroy them but we just seem incapable. Played them off the park earlier in the season and still lost.

neutral

Still have not beaten them since their fall from grace, hope we can change the script.

However, come on you Preston! would be even more hilarious to see them go out at Preston (as long as we don’t)

Tommy Gunner

It really is about time we beat that lot – time to get another monkey off our back!

Ken

YES its fuckin pathetic cheering on Preston.
Time to man up and beat Man utd.

DFS

We drew Monaco in the CL so it’s all swings and roundabouts. We should have already beaten Manu U this season, so, let’s face it, if Arsenal are to exorcise demons regarding Manu U, now is as good a time as any. Arsenal’s Achilles Heel is poor preparation and the subsequent weak mentality we take into specific games. Poster ‘Miranda’ recently noted perhaps bringing someone fresh to work on the mental side of the game would benefit the squad. I agree, but would pose they would need to observe all concerned, to see the tenor and tone taken in the… Read more »

Good draw. Confident. Bring it on

magnetben

Yep – me too! Why not beat the “best” on our way to wembley! I really don’t care who is in our way to a consecutive FA CUP WIN!

Graham

Fixed?? Lol.

goonertilidie

Alexis, on my command unleash hell!

Zip watcher

Alexis, you will go on my second whistle

Don Cazorleone

amazing

Gooneropolis

If it was between Liverpool or United away, I would’ve chosen this draw.

That said, I’d be okay with Preston spoiling the headlines and knocking off the Mancs tonight.

supa dupa

First time since Bayern in 2012/13 season i have really said “shit” about a draw in any comp.

Wenger's Bottle

Fuck worst draw possible, no matter how shit the Mancs are we always roll over for them.

Vonnie

Not in the cup we don’t.

Wenger's Bottle

Didn’t they beat us 2-0 last time we played them in 2011, and in 2008 when that cunt Rooney was taking the piss and they beat us 4-0.

Witoldo

As I recall, the Mancs played 7 defenders (4 at the back, 3 in a makeshift midfield) in 2011 because they had a mini-injury crisis and/or a Champions League tie coming up. And we still lost up there.

goonero

Here here, it wouldn’t feel right lifting the cup again without knocking out one or two rivals en route. COYG.

Ken

Exactly, its almost like cheating to a trophy otherwise.

Le Blanch

We had to face a big team some point. Last year we beat Spuds and the Scouse on the way to the final.

There’s no reason we can’t beat United, we just have to turn up on the day. But then again, we would still have to turn up and play well if preston go through anyway!

Gunnersaurus

and Everton who, lets not forget, almost got into the top 4 last year.

St.macca

Liverpool would have been worse, nothing to worry about here.

The gooner

Our recent 10 game record at old trafford is 8 losses 1 draw and only 1 win. If we cant win then we must not lose.

Tony Hall

Oh please for the love of all that is holy let us stuff them at old Trafford.

Vonnie

We will, it’s our cup and these players aren’t going to let it go without all hell breaking loose. Besides, this team is better than Manure.

Mark

We are a better team than them!! Simple, all out attacking with mesut, alexi, santi, theo, ox, welbeck, giroud, aaron and jack! We have more than enough to do them over! If we lose it, its mental weakness rather than player ability!

Deano

It’s high time we give manure a proper roasting. The most overrated shower of shit in world football. Should have smashed them off the park last time we met.

That’s if Preston don’t roast them first!

rch

The mancs will be more scared of us than we are of them thats if they get passed Preston

wellarsed

If United win, that’s likely the end of our FA Cup run. For some reason we can’t seem to beat them, even at their absolutely shittiest. Come on Preston!

Runkeball

All the more reason to go out and maul them this time. Unless we get Preston. And while I could live with a loss against Preston, possibly even be happy for them if they won it cleanly, I’d have a hard time stomaching Man U being victorious.

So yes, if Man U, please, please, please fucking stomp all over them in the quarter final.

SoqedHozi

Would have preferred reading or villa, or at least a home tie. Got to play our game and bragging rights are ours!

rch

Even past Preston

Runkeball

Come on Preston!

My mother loves Martin Keown

Can’t wait to see Gabriel do one of those “here but no further”-blocks on the Dutch Skunk. Hope he tops it off with some banging on his head.

hank1979

Deepdale looks a nice ground with a proper atmosphere far better than the theatre of shite. No fear of utd to be honest.

o2ba

Either or it dont matter. COYG

Runkeball

Who else is watching the game? Is it just wishful thinking or are Man U actually struggling to get a foot in?

Come on Preston!!!

Joakim

Watching it and wouldn’t mind either way actually. I think we have the win regardless. And even sweeter so if it is Manure who get the pounding from us. About fucking time. That 8-2 result is still haunting me. This is our time to redeem ourselves. Always Gunners.

WengersNoseHair

I believe this slots in between QPR away on the Wednesday, three or four days later the FA Cup tie, then only six or seven days later to West Ham at home. Doesn’t look too bad.

Pontus

Come on Preston!

ManeEth

If Utd do progress tonight, what worries me for the nxt round is the fact that we haven’t yet overcome the pyschological barrier of believing that we can actually beat that lot.
We somehow contrived to lose to Moyes last season & LvG this season, despite both teams being absolute garbage.

Runkeball

Yes but during our last loss against Man U we were at the lowest ebb in years. Things have changed since then. Things have changed for Man U too but while we started putting in some awesome performances they are still pretty shite.

voldermort

And above us in the league.

GoonerN16

Only just and not for long!

Savage

Now that Giggs is retired, I guess it’s Rooney’s turn to miss an open goal in our 2-0 win against that lot.

Gooner from Pretoria(Cap city)

Danny get your coat on…

Alexstratz

I like you guys’ optimism but let’s face it, this draw sucks. What makes you so sure we can beat United at their home ground if we can’t beat them at ours, while playing much better?

Man Manny

The same way we beat City at their home ground when we couldn’t do same at ours.

Alexstratz

And then we lost to Sp*rs at their ground, after drawing at home. Among top teams, City is actually one that plays football, unlike the more physical sides, aka United, Chelsea, Sp*rs. We always seem to struggle against the latter c*nts. I still believe in our chances but if we can only force a replay, that would already be a good result because I’m pretty sure we’ll go through at home.

calmdown

can you see the future?

Cornelius P. Snuffington III

Giroud’s first game back from injury (and he scored a stunner anyway), and he’s been in great form since coming back from the suspension. Ozil was out with injury, and he’s been in great form since returning. Walcott was out with injury, and he’s been good since returning, and with another month before this tie could be back in top shape in time for it. I think Koscielny was out for the first United tie too? Can’t recall. Anyway, point is, the team is way, way better now than it was in December when they lost a game that the… Read more »

texasgooner

PRESTON JUST SCORED!!

Alexstratz

Magic of the Cup. I hope I didn’t jinx it.

Arsepedant

You did, it’s 1-1 now.

Still time for Preston to snatch a late winner, though.

Joakim

Halfway through a bottle of wine and Preston scores. Maybe a sign to finnish it haha!

Kiwi gooner
