Theo Walcott says hitting 100 goals in Arsenal colours is well within his reach having committed his long-term future to the club.
The England attacker, who currently has 76 goals to his name since moving to N5 in 2006, has been backed to hit the target by team mate Aaron Ramsey and it’s an optimism he shares.
“That’s my target, definitely,” the 26-year-old told Arsenal Player. “It’s nice having somebody who believes in me like that and I believe in it as well.
“It’s achievable, definitely. I have to look after myself, train well, play well and we’ll see where it takes me. But I’m very confident.”
Walcott would be the fourth Gunner to pass 100 goals during Arsene Wenger’s 19-year tenure; a feat that would see him follow in the footsteps of Dennis Bergkamp, Robin van Persie and Thierry Henry. Ian Wright, who scored the last of his 185 goals for Arsenal in January 1998, had previously hit the milestone under George Graham.
In total 17 players have scored a century since the club were founded in 1886. Apropos of nothing, unless Walcott nets 24 goals in the next four games (he’s made 303 appearances so far) he’ll hit his century slower than the other names on the esteemed list.
Given his age and potential there’s a real chance Theo could make the club’s top ten scorers list in the next couple of years. He’ll no doubt be looking to get off the mark against West Ham on Sunday, the team he’s scored against more than any other.
Such an overrated player. We should have cashed in on him this summer.
Come back and say that at the end of the season. And watch how everyone laughs.
In other news, The Arsenal U19’s just took the lead against Psv. Ben Sheaf letting rip an absolute scorcher from at least 26 yards out. Zelalem bossing the match to the liking of the crowd. He’s also missed a penalty.
1 – nil to the Arsenal!
COYG!
We’ve won! Another goal from Fortune.
So – five trophies already. Mustn’t forget the backroom staff v. the Singapore fans where Gazidis scored the winning goal: credit where it’s due. It’s all really quite dizzying.
He’s definitely not worth the contract he’s just earned, if true he’s one of the highest paid. His games too limited and he doesn’t excel in any particular category. Saying that though, he is useful to have around.
Goals = money. That’s pretty much it. Theo will score goals.
by that Logic, Poldi should have played every game and should have got a pay rise
Fair point. Some might still maintain that should’ve happened (probably not so many with the benefit of hindsight!). But for me, Theo would score more than Poldi given the same number of games. Plus he’s younger, quicker and qualifies as homegrown talent. Put that all together and your comparison doesn’t really hold up.
@Finsbury Park Gooner
Theo sells more shirts too.
Goals = money?
You say that like Theo is clinical and has been prolific.
He isn’t. Or perhaps its better to say he hasn’t been. I feel like theo IS a very limited player but his value is in that small talent pool, pace and end product. This may be the season where he can add more of the latter on a consistent basis and if he did you’d be hard pressed to find a player of his ilk in the prem and maybe go some way to validating his lofty wages.
What, we have moved to theo again, no one told me. I thought we were still taking Giroud down. We know Ramsey got away with it and proved us wrong but Theo won’t. What, BFG, Monreal, Coq you say, ah but we have Welbeck and then jack if all else fails. Please keep us updated sir so we know which players to slaughter next. between you, cuntface Morgan and a few others (won’t mention names in case they are offended) it’s difficult to follow. I just had me Wenger out t shirt replaced with a new Giroud out and now… Read more »
Yeah, fuck opinions!
I think Arsenal fans have seen enough of Arsenal players being sold to their club’s competitors. City, Chelsea, United, Liverpool, I’m sure all of them would gladly buy Walcott if they could but now as he has finally signed a new contract deal they can go fuck themselves.
Thankfully, something you’re not likely to have to deal with being rated….I remember you. ….you said exactly the same thing about rambo.
Yeah,so you can moan that Venga left him to go to Chelsea or Liverpool we know you buddy
I mentioned this the other day – the fact that Merse is eternally stuck on 99 goals frustrates me so much. Pretty sure numbers fetishist ‘blogger feels the same…!
I was tempted to bring it up…I really was.
Then get your head down lad and do it this season!
Is he starting Sunday? Or Giroud? Can’t see both starting as Ox is nailed down for a place on the wings, and the remainder of the midfield makes up for itself; Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey and Coq. Good headache for Wenger.
Good question. It’s playing havoc with my fantasy football league starting 11.
Haha exactly why I asked mate. When for Ozil as he’s a definite starter, let’s hope for a blinder from him!
Hope you can be that guy who can give us 20+ goals in the EPL
Another hat trick tomorrow. Go on theo
Goodluck theo
to pull that off this season, his injuries shouldn’t keep him out for more than 4 games at a time.
Somebody said Walcott is overated. In my opinion he is underated. Walcott is an excellent player, and i for 1 am chuffed he has stayed with us. He had an excellent FA cup final. He looks hungry for goals, he has a good work rate. He is a nightmare for defenders with his pace. He can finish well. I think he can easily provide 20+ goals a season if he is not injured. He can play on the wing or up front, keeping Giroud and the Ox etc on their toes fighting for their spot. He is very dangerous on… Read more »
I can see Walcott scoring 35 goals this season and winning us the title.
A positive fatgooner? What is the world coming too?

People keep saying Walcott can’t score or Giroud can’t score or Welbeck can’t score. Why can’t they score? Giroud’s strike rate is better than Benteke and close to Benzema’s. Despite his age, he has good apptitude and is constantly improving himself. he is among the top 10 in the world. He is one of the best enablers in the world able to bring our second line of attackers into the goal area. Welbeck is a developing young striker whom at 23/24yrs (like Ramsey and Walcott and Coquelin before…not to mention Fabregas and Nasri) is poised to realise is potential in… Read more »
I think Walcott has a lot of goals in him. He will definitely get to 100 quickly if he stays fit.
Deadly far post finisher
He’s much more suited when we play away from home and teams are pushing up and attacking us, his pace is deadly when we hit teams on the break.
So frustrating when we play at home sometimes and teams defend on their own 18 yard line, it highlights how limited his game is…just saying!!!
It is very possible this season.
..I believe in you..
is Walcott now going to be inconsistent in patches after signing a new contract?
