Walcott, Giroud and Iwobi start: Hull City v Arsenal teams

It’s an FA Cup 5th round replay this evening, as we travel to face Hull City. Here’s the team Arsene Wenger has picked to do the job tonight.

Can it go better than the one that drew 0-0 with the Tigers in the first game?

Subs: Kuciak, Tymon, Robertson, Livermore, Taylor, Aluko, Hernandez

Arsenal: Ospina, Chambers, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Gibbs, Flamini, Elneny, Campbell, Iwobi, Walcott, Giroud

Subs: Macey, Monreal, Ramsey, Reine-Adelaide, Willock, Ozil, Alexis

Wenger giving Walcott the nod, letting the rest of the side get more experience playing with 10 men, since that seems to come up a lot.

Now go score some goals and shut me up.

ClockEndRider

Can’t wait to see Walcott hiding in plain sight for the umpteenth time in his 10 year stay…..

Mpls

Well now, there you go.
Not that I would have predicted it, mind you, but I’m happy to have missed the call.

Let’s just hope Ramsey’s was just being very careful and Mert’s is just some stitching.

osinachi

let’s hope this not the repeat of Sheffield Wednesday trashing against us

goat

Such an attacking bench! and no Welbeck, probably saving his goals for the game with the scum (barca).

Indian_Gooner

And Flamini to let Ospina have some experience saving penalties because he will need that at Camp Nou when we knock out Barcelona in the penalty shoot out.

santori

Flamini apart from the tackle against Messi has kept clean sheets against Stoke and Soton where Coquelin has over last games let 5 in two and even with Elneny we have let in 7 in 3 games.

Why always complain about Flamini? If Ramsey is the problem now then consider Flamini and Ramsey formed an effective partnership against City and Olympiakos before.

Complete nonsense.

Bob Davis

Surprised to see Giroud starting. Not sure who Willock is? I’ll take that as Wellbeck.

Solid line up and an excellent subs bench if we need them!

Arsenal to win 3-0. Iwobi, Giroud and Walcott to score.

COYG!

Paul

No please not Walcott!! Prove me wrong Theo, you may have a chance to do that as it is against Hull.

Heroldg

Theo likes a cup. remember reading away? coyg

Paul

Oh yeah and I remember the promise he showed 10 years ago…:-(

Burn Baby Burn

Didn’t everyone score in that match?

docciavelli

Marouane Chamakh. Oy.

Paul

Furthermore if Walcott hides and doesn’t get subbed by Wenger until the 70th minute I am going to scream until I am sick!

ciderman

Theo should just place a deck chair on the right wing, crack open a beer and watch his team mates play football – better than wandering around pretending to play football IMO

Third Plebeian

Actually, with the alarming frequency he gifts the opposition possession in our third, it would be more appropriate if he just played in the other team’s kit.

Heroldg

Fucking Jakupovic again. won’t be as lucky…please don’t fuck this up.

its threadbare as it is…

Loveoffootball

Strong looking line up even if “feo” is not anyone’s favourite at the moment.

Rossi88

Almost spot on blogs! COYG

Rossi88

Il support theo….still on his day a very good player. One of them days are due (eyes on you theo)

Loveoffootball

yes on his day he is a “good” player he just needs to show more consistency and be more involved in the game.

Bananaman

No even on his day he isn’t a good player. On his day he might be an effective player by getting the odd goal but nobody knows how and even on those days he’s not a good player.

He can’t control the ball, a basic requirement for someone playing Sunday league football never mind on 140k a week at Arsenal.

He’s the biggest pile of turd I’ve ever seen even if he scores 5 today, he’s still shouldn’t be playing professional football.

Paul

What is all of this “on his day” stuff?? On my day I can hit a ton on the dartboard but I am still shit at darts! 🙂

Post January Blip

What does Joel Campbell have to do to get a start? Poor sod

Bedfordshire Gooner

So basically the same line-up that couldn’t beat them last time.

Great.

Post January Blip

Oh, he’s starting. As you were.

santori

So conceited.

Wenger was the one who gave Campbell a chance when most of you said he was not good enough for Arsenal.

Ditto with Coquelina nd Bellerin.

Empty vessels…

docciavelli

Is Campbell the No. 10? Or is Iwobi? Or maybe Flam gets the No. 10 role he’s always wanted and occasionally played at White Hart Lane?

Mark

It is a very offensive bench, most so we’ve had this season. Not Wenger’s choosing, but by necessity with Coquelin on a red card and Per injured. At least this match we have Ozil and Sanchez on the bench to provide some firepower should it be needed. Just hope it’s not needed and if needed they aren’t brought on too late.

Hikaru

I hope they win easily, without any need to use our most tired player, we need Alexis, Oxil, Ramsey, in the best shape possible.

santori

As expected. I prefer Giroud up top. He is an enabler. Welbeck has been really good with work ethic but needs to be more efficient with ball still. Campbell gets his chance as expected. Wenger after all was the one who kept him in the squad when most on this threats said he was not good enough for us. Walcott gets a chance wide. The only option I would liked to have seen was Ozil starting with Iwobi maybe wide first so we get the job done early and without risk then add Walcott in later for Ozil with Iwobi… Read more »

Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen Academicals

Rather than complain about the strikers, what has Awobi done this game apart from losing the ball and misplacing passes?

I know he is promising but he does not have the awareness to beat Hull’s packed Midfield.

Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen Academicals

Iwobi

Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen Academicals

Also, Walcott detractors, what about that cross to set up Giroud?

Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen Academicals

Wow, the Jeff is on!

Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen Academicals

Sod the Walcott detractors. What a finish!

An assist AND a goal.

So what do you arseholes say about that?

Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen Academicals

Probably they will say it is only Hull!

Mustrum Ridcully, Unseen Academicals

Two goals. What do you detractors say now?

Runkeball

Well, well, well! Walcott redeems himself and Giroud has started scoring again.
