Cech expects to be back for Watford

Petr Cech says he should be fit for Saturday’s clash with Watford, having missed a number of weeks with injury.

The Arsenal number one had been playing with a groin strain for a little while, and aggravated his hamstring racing back to goal as the Gunners lost to Swansea at the Emirates on March 2nd.

Although David Ospina has been an able deputy, the Czech international should come back into the side if he can prove his fitness.

“I should be fine after the national team break,” he said. “It’s nothing serious. I’m still motivated and excited.”

And speaking to Arsenal Player, he talked about how much he was looking forward to this summer’s European Championships.

“It’s amazing how tournaments like that can open up opportunities, not only for the players who played but also for younger players and the new generation,” he said.

“This is a huge opportunity for those guys who dreamed about going abroad, playing in big leagues. We have some in Germany, some in Turkey, me and Tomas are the only ones currently in the Premier League.

“It’s a huge opportunity for us to show that we can play at the highest level. Maybe it can help open more doors for the younger generation.”

Nothing wrong with Ospina but…

Cech is a better keeper. Play him if he is fit!

Arsene-al fan

And he wants to play until he is 40. Which means he can attract the new Tomas to us.

Possession

Lovely to have you back Petr but where is Santi and when can we expect to have the little two footed genius back ?

David C

I think it was an achilles problem with his recovery…if I remember correctly.

Ger

8 games to go. Nothing is impossible .
Fuck all the negativity.

Sure city did something similar catching united 4 years ago. It’s not like it can’t be done.

Everyone just needs to get behind the team and then we can have our debates at the end of the season!

Man Manny

I think we will win against Wat, CP, WB, SUN, NOR and AV. That leaves us with our most difficult games – WH and MC. If we can get four points from those two, that will take us to 77 points and I believe that will give us the league. I strongly expect LEI & TOT to drop points from this weekend.
Not easy I know; but if the team can focus as Ozil claimed they will, I see the team going on the run they are quite capable of.
I agree with you: we must keep the faith.

Trez

Just like you were sure we’d beat Swansea and Southampton at home?

Bob's Mexican Cousin

Can we set up a half-full/half-empty filter?

Trez

Less talk please. Just put up another performance like the one against Everton and get 3 points.

Manny – So, what you are saying is we need to win 7 of our last 8 games, AND we need Leicester to lose 4 of their last 7 games.

Given we have won 3 out of our last 10 PL games and Leicester have only lost 3 all season (31 games). You may be accused of being unrealistic in your expectations.

Thumbs up for the optimism though.

Lord Bendtner

Since u put it like that, I agree with you.

Man Manny

I know LEI have been beaten just 3 times but I expect the nerves to set in more and more now that they are actually close to doing the unthinkable. A bad result against SOTON may just trigger a downward spiral. They have NEVER been here before and that could be vital.

Do you write those score captions at the top of the screen for Sky Sports?

“Your goddamn negativity, I don’t need it! I’m an idea man. I thrive on enthusiasm, don’t think take the wind out of my sails, I need ya.”

A Gorilla

No excuses, play like a champion

TommyGun

Hooray, it’s all coming together just in time. What could possibly go wrong?

good ol' 1 nil to Woolwich

Yeah, having Petr back is a huge confidence boost. Let’s just climb up the table now as Spurs and Leicester take a bow

ooooooooooooooooooooospinaaaaaaaa! we miss that chant if and when the Colombian shot stopper calls time on his emirates career.

Tarquin Farquar

You can say that again

We need him for the run in….

Bob Davis

Good to see him back. I think Ospina’s done well and is a decent back up. Hopefully we’ll get some good news on Wishire and Cazorla.

Can we send Leicester and spurs some delicious Lasagna

Petits Handbag

I haven’t seen many say this but….
I think we can win the league.
Amazing what 10 days without football can do.

Andrew

Dear Lord, please make Leicester City have an unfortunate schmelting accident. I will sacrifice three chickens and a Spurs kit to you.

Mr.Wood

Excellent news! I just used the following website to determine Arsenal’s chances of winning the league……

The answer was “without a doubt”. Incidentally, this was exactly the same answer it gave me when I asked if John Terry was a cunt, so it must be true 😉

How we got knocked out by Watford is beyond me. We will need to win all remaining games which is possible. Key to it would be : 1) Our front men must start to find the net more regularly and it seems they are starting to get back into it. 2) The midfield partnership of Elneny-Coquelin must solidify. Last game they did well but we have also leaked 9 goals in 5 games with Coquelin’s return playing together first with Ramsey and then Elneny. I’m not as blown away with Elneny just yet but he has two good attributes at… Read more »

So we only need to enhance the attack, the defense, and the engine room to win out? I’m in!
