Video: Serge Gnabry Olympic goal for Germany

Serge Gnabry came off the bench to score for Germany at the Rio Olympics tonight.

The Arsenal man made it 1-1 against Mexico in the 58th minute with an Henry-esque finish from an incisive through-ball.

At the time of writing through, Mexico lead 2-1.

Later tonight, new signing Takuma Asano is likely to play for Japan when they face Nigeria.

Tells much about the commentators knowledge.

Good finish

Goonshow

Remember when Theo used to slot those instead of whacking straight at the keeper!

PARTYNEXTDOOR

Yeah…like a memory from a half-forgotten dream…i am now an old man filled with regret.

Tom Gun

Clearly don’t need Lacazette/Morata/Lukaku/every other striker we’re linked to as Serge is clearly the next Henry. This is definitive proof 😉

Gnabry is immensely talented, the 13/14 season is proof of that. Injuries and a failed loan spell at West Brom haven’t done him any good. Really hope he stays at the club and battles for the position on the right with Chambo/Walcott. Games like this, against Lens and for the u21’s last season is showing that he still has the ability to succeed. Just needs a run of games and hopefully we will see that at the Olympics. He completely changed the game when he came on in the second half. I know I may get down-voted for this but… Read more »

No downvoting, Sir! You say it all!

Very true. Also, the guy providing the assist is a CENTREBACK! Niklas Sule Turned down a move to Liverpool warlier in the summer, saying he likes it a Hoffenheim and being close to Family. HE would be a truly great signing if Arsene can charm him and Hoffenheim. He’s 6’4, commanding in defence, and has ability on the ball like THAT through ball. We should pull out all stops for someone like him. Loan him back for a season even, if that’s what it takes to convince him and Hoffenheim. Where am I? OH… Sorry I was dreaming.

Idiot

Just downvoted so you are right in every way!

Noblegunner

The match ended 2-2. Gnabry actually changed the match when he came on!!

Flambalam

What a serge-ing run and finish!

It’s ok i hate me too.

Eternal Titi Berg Pat Nostagia

Hope Gnabry does not pick up a serious injury for a good three years.

andres

Asano scored too against Nigeria although they lose.

Wolf

Great goal all round… but a bit offside-ish, no?

Stillmatic

Great finish but what a pass.

Actually think both Gnabry and Maitland-Niles are more deserving of first team opportunities than The Jeff, but not complaining.

Just hope Wenger doesn’t forget about him now he has new favourites.

Wolf

That pass came from Niklas Süle, a highly rated central defender who plays for Hoffenheim. 20 years old, a towering 6’4″ and clearly pretty good with his feet too.

Onenil

Sign. Now.

Didn’t notice your comment, apologies for a similar comment.

Super Joshi

I just loved the comm shouting “Tie-Game!” How American.

Vincent Kompany/Jamie Vardinho

Off topic but I just saw RM’s Jese has agreed a deal with PSG for only 25m euros, the guy is better than Mahrez, wouldve been a top signing

OneBeatOff

Before reacting harshly I am going to assume he is known to our spanish contingent. That said I have no idea whether players (senior) are consulted on transfer targets from their respective countries …

Albioff

Taking Gervinho’s number couldn’t help his career.

Czerwonadupa

If Gnabry stays fit Wenger could afford to off load Walcott & save a lot of money. And we all know how economics rule at the Emirates

Scott Lawton

That pass though
