Bordeaux confirm complicated Wellington Silva capture

Bordeaux have confirmed that they’ll be signing Wellingston Silva from Arsenal after the club exercised a buy-back clause in his contract.

The Brazilian went to Fluminense on a free transfer last season, with a stipulation that the Gunners could purchase him back for a fixed price, believed to be around €3.5m.

With the French side willing to pay around €5m for the attacker, Arsenal have done just that and the player should be confirmed as their player early next week.

According to Bordeaux coach, Jocelyn Gourvennec, “Wellington Silva is expected to arrive this weekend and sign with us early next week after his medical visit.

“It took a bit of time, but he should be with us .”

Wellington was extremely highly rated by staff at Arsenal when he arrived at the club, but never seemed able to develop his talent during one of the many loan spells he was sent on.

He’ll now have a chance to further his career in Ligue 1. Good luck to him.

Rwandan Gunner

Another extremely talanted young man whose progression lader just died a natural death. Good for him

His last two loans were actually really good. He was even in La Liga’s “Team of the Week” a few times, ousting Madrid and Barca players to do so.

Also speaking to a former Arsenal academy player a few weeks back, he stated that both Silva and Gnabry were the best talents at the academy by some distance, but also were “the most in-arsenal” type players, because at the academy, they are trained to pass and move, whereas both Gnabry and Silva liked to cause chaos by dribbling at people.

Ironically, they were like Sanchez in our current line up.

We’ll probably have first refusal on one of their talented players. Good luck to Wellington. I really had high hopes for him.

Buy back should be to keep the player otherwise the player is like a merchandise.

Glad we didn’t give him the boot without that clause. Need to do it more often.

Have we inserted another Buy Back clause in his contract?

Bloody hell.

How old is this guy now? He should be close to retirement by now.

Talk about peripheral player nobody wants.

Gun for hire or what.
