Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal have suffered no new injuries since beating Aston Villa on Sunday, but warned that after a physically draining game at the Emirates his squad will have to be on their guard against a resurgent Bolton Wanderers.
Giving an injury update to the club website, the boss confirmed:
“Sagna is in the squad. He is a bit ahead of Kieran Gibbs training-wise. Sagna is a bit early still [for tomorrow] but you never know. I might consider it because I have to check all the recoveries of the players who played on Sunday.
“Johan was back in full training today so he is available. [Henry and Arteta] are both ready.
“We have no injuries. But it was a very demanding game physically against Villa on Sunday and it is important that we recover and prepare well for tomorrow night.”
In further good news, Wenger also confirmed that Keiran Gibbs was closing in on a first team return having recovered from surgery on both his groins (I didn’t realise you could have two).
Having joined the first team for training this morning, it looks as though the England international could make an appearance in the coming weeks.
“He had a normal training session yesterday. He is still short to play now but it is good news to have him back and I think one or two more weeks practice will get him back to being available again. That is very positive.”
Its good to know that our 1st team players are returning bck to the team. It will increase our chances of winning a trophy & finishing among the big 4 this team.
Gibbs has two groins? Like some kind of Dr Who Barry White mashup? Or perhaps more like a beach with lots of groins. Lots and lots of groins, that can all pick up injuries requiring operations.
Everyone has two ‘groins’, provided you have two legs that is. Busting them both at the same time is pretty rare. Wonder what Gibbsy was up to….?
The only thing I hope is he doesn’t go out again before Santos is back.
True, we are not asking much Mr Gibbs, it is only six week all we are asking of you.
I have honestly always thought that anyone who trains pretty much everyday, should be able to cope with 3 games of football a week.
Well, but they’re also training everyday, that’s no cakewalk. Being a professional athlete puts your body under a lot of unnatural stress.
If Gibbs had surgery on ‘both his groins’ then more than ever groin sounds like a euphemism for bollocks. So Gibbs had surgery on his bollocks. Perhaps he had a vasectomy.
Some good news at last! COYG!
Thumbs down for the good news! lol
Another one from me
um yes, two groins. one at the top of each thigh? or am i being silly?
Is it normal the rate Arsenal players get injured?
I mean it’s almost after every match one or more Arsenal player get injured.
What are they feeding to the players to make them so prone to injuries?
I have got a feeling dat Gibbs will be crooked up after playing less than 3 matches. Man’s got brittle bones. No wonder he’s on our team
Brittle bones with no marrow in them or not….let’s just support the kid, and hope he doesn’t get injured (I know, it’s hard) again. Bottom line is quite simple – we NEED all our players to play a role in the run in. Arshavin would excel as ball boy – minimal chasing, just wait for the ball, smile at the camera…. Also, lets hope all this time out hasn’t affected KGB mentally or physically enough that we’d have to top him. I can’t help but feel he knows, Wenger knows, he knows Wenger knows he is fast becoming unreliable –… Read more »
“Diaby Mach II”
Oh come on, even Walcott isn’t *that* fast…..
No mention of Jack?
News from next summer-
we have acquired an excellent attacking midfielder who can attack as well as play a defensive role. That too for free. Can anybody guess who that is?
