According to Football.London, Calum Chambers is still two weeks from fitness having picked up a hip problem in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup a month ago.
The England international, who recently signed a two-year contract extension, had been expected to be back in action in time for tomorrow’s game with Red Star Belgrade but did not travel to Serbia.
It’s thought the 22-year-old will now target the return-leg of the Europa League tie with Red Star, who travel to the Emirates on 2 November.
With Shkodran Mustafi sidelined for four weeks by a hamstring problem picked up in the Interlull, Laurent Koscielny struggling with a persistent Achilles injury and substituted at the weekend with calf tightness, the Gunners are a little short on experience in the centre of defence.
Per Mertesacker, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac and Rob Holding are all options for tomorrow night.
I’m at the end of my tether, I just anticipate what bad news comes next. ?
Massive surprise
Well that’s typical innit.
Well I hope Santori reads this post.
I hope Sead gets a rest. He looked under the weather in the last game and he needs a break. Nacho is overplayed too at the moment. Arsene got plenty of rotating to do.
AMN in LB and Debuchy as CB with Reiss Nelson as RWB? I’ll be happy if Wilshere and Willock are in CM again
I thought Chambers had aggravated a previous hip injury in that game, rather than just picked up the injury then…
Had there been any update on him until now, other than that he was injured? I didn’t realise he was supposed to be back for this game.
