According to various reports coming out of France, Arsenal target Yacine Adli will sign a new deal at Paris Saint Germain.
A couple of weeks ago, RMC claimed that the 17-year-old midfielder, who was handed his Ligue 1 debut by Unai Emery on the final day of last season, was on the verge of penning a three-year contract at the Emirates. Then, over the weekend, they suggested the player was having second thoughts.
In response, the teenager took to social media to write, “You have no idea what you’re on about”. Just for good measure, he tagged himself in Paris. All very confusing.
It now looks as though Adli will stay put at the Parc des Princes with PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique winning his scrum with Sven Mislintat, Raul Sanllehi and our contract guy.
The Gunners would only have paid €255,000 in compensation for one of Europe’s hottest teen prospects.
Having been close to a deal, it’s a blow, but more on the PR front than anything else. After all, we’ve lured top teenage talent to the club time and time again, some making debuts soon after their arrival, but very few actually live up to the hype.
It looks like we’ll never know with Adli.
