Report: Gazidis pay rise to top £1 million

Ivan Gazidis will see his pay increase by £1 million a year when he takes over as CEO at AC Milan, according to The Times (£).

As we reported yesterday, the 53-year-old has agreed to join the Italian giants having been pinpointed by new owners Elliott Management as the man to stabilise the club’s finances. Along the way, he’ll pick up around £3.6 million a year and will be offered equity in the San Siro outfit.

Interestingly, Gary Jacob’s article draws attention to Gazidis’ eagerness to hand Mikel Arteta the vacant head coach position in the summer and a coaching position under Wenger when he hung up his boots. He was apparently left frustrated by his board members and the Frenchman respectively. Is there anything to be read into why attention is being drawn attention to this now? We’ll let you decide.

Arsenal are yet to confirm Gazidis’ departure or whether he’ll be put on gardening leave. It may well be that Stan Kroenke is waiting to complete his full takeover of the club before freshening up the Gunners boardroom as a whole.

His son, Josh, is currently the frontrunner to take over Gazidis’ duties although whether the 38-year-old takes on a full-time position or combines it with his existing KSE responsibilities remains to be seen.

Does he know Berlusconi?

Pedant

Poor old AC Milan. Forking out a huge amount (and they have half Arsenal’s turnover) for someone that didn’t have enough impact on Arsenal (eg didn’t support Wenger enough and/or too weak as CEO to make improvements because Wenger wouldn’t let him, supposedly).

Let’s get someone better.

Petit's Handbag

Being 32 I’ve been a fan since 91 or so. Can’t remember any cretins like this Kroenke crowd though. Players can score against your club but this lots lack of care for our club could destroy. Something needs to be done, Josh Kroenke knows nothing of Arsenal.

Matt P

Gazidis is a greasy, mediocre cunt. In my humble opinion.

Blogs…is that you?

arseblog

No, but I wouldn’t argue too hard with that sentiment 😉

afan

come on blogs, clean up this website, this blog is going down hill fast with disgusting language like this, kids use this blog, so be more responsible, and abide by YOUR own rules, NO SWEARING

arseblog

None of our rules say no swearing.

And if you’re offended by bad language, there’s load of other fucking blogs to read, for fucks sake.

Ivan’s Bunga Bunga Party

Thierry bergkamp

I’d switch jobs for an extra £5 per hr. A 6 zero figure pay rise is a no brainer.

Gooneron

You get a raise for actual tangible / intangible performance. AC Milan have no brains

Des

His going for the Bunga Bunga parties. Really don’t see all the fuss is about, most of his years he was pretty much useless during the Wenger’s over long stay. He had an over priced salary then and still does so we would save a lot money him going and actually get someone who knows football. Like a club legend.

Mesut O'Neill

Yes a Club legend is really gonna understand the intricacies of managing a billion dollar empire. I know let’s get Tony Adams ??‍♂️

So apparently posting one comment in 2 months is posting too quickly

Gunnerwinalot

Money talks! Cue the usual corporate BS about a fresh and exciting challenge. The club is bigger than any player or manager and certainly bigger than any executive!
