Aubameyang: I love Lacazette!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has praised Alexandre Lacazette after his goal in the 2-0 win over Chelsea, and says he’s keen for their on-pitch partnership to continue.

The two strikers have hit it off on a personal level since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund this time last year, and on the pitch they’ve shared 26 goals and 10 assists between them this season.

Speaking about the performance on Saturday evening, Aubameyang was quick to credit the French international, and the rest of the team, for what was a crucial victory.

“It was really nice,” he said.

“I think we did a lot of runs, a lot of effort for the team, we worked a lot, and of course we are happy when we play together because we have such a good feeling between us. It was cool.

“I think since I joined here at Arsenal he was here and he came to me and talked to me and now we are going well. We have the same vision about football and I love him. He’s a great guy.

“It’s not a bad rivalry, we are friends when one is going well the other is happy and that’s the most important thing, to do well.

“When you have a striker like Alex near to you then he’s really good to play with. I hope we will play more games together.”

Aubameyang missed a glorious chance to open the scoring on Saturday, and just missed with an Aubahead kick, leaving him determined to improve his strike rate in the games ahead.

“Sincerely, I think I can do a bit more,” he said. “I hope I will do it.

“This gives us a lot of confidence that we can finish the season really well. This kind of win is important for all of us.

“We played very well. I think everybody put in a great effort, we played like a team and that’s why we won.”

We love you both

Runcorn Gooner

If they keep scoring and defending well as they do we will be ok.

P..S. Noticed Stan’s LA Rams have just made the Superbowl.
Perhaps he will try and emulate this success here but not convinced

Comedian

Lol. He wants to be a hit in his country, maybe not in England.

Chris hani

I hope when he made to that his dream of doing the same at arsenal appeared on his face

Pat Rice and Beans

The dynamics in the North American leagues – draft system, no relegation, salary cap etc – could transform a shitty team (St Louis Rams) in a good one within years without spending.

Unfortunately, in football nowadays, success is correlated to investment. And Kroenke will not do that via a vis the “success” obtained with his American teams – specially Rams and Denver Nuggets this season.

Homer

A dominant win over CSKA London, vitally keeps a top 4 finish hopes alive, excellence all over the pitch, but all some “supporters” can do is take an ignorant dig at the owner (who’s other team is about to win a championship, btw).

Ridiculous comment.

Goonerink

You know how the bowl works right? Realistically isn’t a championship and NFL isn’t comparative to Football, in any way.

Goooooooner for life

AUBAZETTE and LACAMEYANG are my kinds of strikers.

Runzac

This is so silly and therefore so good – one green thumb from me at least

Bournemouth Gooner

First proper season of what will hopefully become a legendary partnership.

clockenddan

Welcome back to the feel good factor!

Bob holt

Let’s end Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s feel good factor.

GraeB

Interesting that Laca didn’t really moan about being subbed this week – even though I feel it was the wrong choice – perhaps Unai had pre-warned him.

martin

I really think he was beginning to tire as he had worked prodigiously hard

santori

He put in a lot of effort as did Ramsey.

Torreira too as you could see him cramp up end of game.

The whole team worked their socks off that game.

The question is if it is sustainable.

We’ve seen it before where we beat Spurts and then fall off against lesser opponents thereafter (Soton, BHA, West Ham)

Which is why we will be rotating assets at Cback and also up top and in midfield.

There is no one system fits all.

Gunnerali

When they both put in the shift they did on Saturday, pressing, dropping back to help defend as well as attacking , IMO I don’t see the problem of playing them together.

GraeB

Love playing them both together, just felt that of the two, if necessary, Auba was the one who should have been subbed. Laca has the better control to be a sole front man and allows others to run off him.

Wolsty

Agree on them playing both together, but Laca was right to be taken off, he played well and worked his bollox off. We were 2 up so tighten up midfield and save him a bit for Friday.
As Chelsea pushed on that left more space behind for Auby to run into, so I can see why Emery left him on. Anyway on wards and upwards, bring on Moan U…

Banksy

First time in a long time that we’ve had two top strikers at the club, we need to make the most of it. It had seemed as if Emery had tried to create a rivalry between the two with both vying for one position but hopefully he’s realised that these two and the team are better off with them both playing

locksley444

I think emery was just unconvinced both of them could fit together in the starting 11, like many of us were.

santori

It depends.

There is no absolute solution.

Rich

Aubameyang is a menace, off the ball and closing down space he’s phenomenal, he really put in a shift against Chelsea, and despite not being really involved in the game, he could have had a hatrick.

I think the problem comes in games where he’s out wide and we have more possession, alongside Lacazette they both get lost and we struggle to mount pressure, we’re in desperate need of an explosive winger who can dribble and cause havoc against a side parked on the edge of their own penaly area.

santori

We are in need of several players who can hold and dribble the ball for us. The Rwinger has been a need for 2 or 3 seasons now since Wenfer first failed to qualify for the top 4 pot. BUT it has NOT been addressed by Mslintat. We also could benefit from a central mid with ability to dribble and carry the ball from deep like Viera, Diaby and Santi did. When teams congest our passing lanes,we suffocate and struggle. Iwobi is the closest we have to a player like Alexis who could engage and take on opponents one on… Read more »

loose_cannon

A proper, old-fashioned strike partnership; an out-and-out No.9 and a half-goalscorer, half-creator second striker. They really compliment each other, hopefully Emery can build around them.

Chris hani

We need someone like rambo.. if you a premier league fan.. someone like madisson perhaps i think he is underated.. he plays so well.. though not defensively.. i dont know where we can get a more both legged person like carzola in the heart xhaka is too much on his left

martin

Cazorla

santori

Santi was a massive buy for a comparative steal by Wenger and Law.

And Wenger was equally successful converting him into a deeper midfield role.

banza

I love ramsey,i love kosielny’s shoulder even more.

Laca-Sead

Mother

For such a prolific striker, Aubameyang can miss such easy chances sometimes – it’s bizarre. However, there’s no doubting that his and Lacazette’s contributions to the team are incredibly important. It’s heart warming to hear of their friendship.

I’d just like to see more goal scoring consistency away from home where their missed chances can often be the difference between a win and a defeat.

santori

Too many misses. Auba needs to be far less charitable.

Laca carved that cahcne out for himself and put it away.

Red-Sky

Yeah, great, but don’t get carried away because it’s not always possible or feasible to play 2 strikers at the same time. Emery even said so in post-match conf.
Maybe home games are more suitable to unleashing our full attacking might.
let’s hope the fans will understand this.

santori

Spot on. Too many people are absolutist. One size fits all. You only have to look at some of the analysis on AFTV (cough) Unai has contingencies or is working on them to fit various situations. This is only sensible given we do not face Chelsea and their more open defense all the time. Many times (Soton, BHA West Ham) we face teams compact and sitting deep constricting the passing lanes. A midfield diamond may or may not be as effective in this case or two up top. It also depends on who we have available defensively as well as… Read more »

We love you both too Lacazameyang!!!

Shank

Watching on Saturday…… workrate noted!!
Could Mesut ever buy in to this type of selfless running and harrying?
I don’t think it’s gonna happen but I would be ecstatic to be proven wrong.

santori

Actually it is a myth that Ozil is lazy.

He often clocks close to the highest amount of ground covered.

the issue I have with him is his resolve or belief when he goes into a tackle. Often times it seems lacking in confidence.

His forward game is without question. He also puts in time running around defensively but when he goes in to tackle the ball, I’d like to see as greater sense of purpose and strength.

If he can improve this, we will be a much stronger team overall.

santori

There’s defo a great relationship between the two. The 2 up top option is refreshing for us particularly as Emery recognises we have 2 or 3 players who can play in the hole just behind the strikers (Ozil, Ramsey, Mhki) and make an impact gambling into the box. But we will likely not play with 2 up front all the time. It all depends on circumstance. We won’t have the luxury of the space afforded to us by Chelsea who were happy to come at us. Most teams may likely sit tight and suffocate our passing lines. If we should… Read more »
