Confirmed: Martinez joins Reading

Arsenal have confirmed that Emi Martinez has moved to Championship side Reading on loan for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old has been restricted to one appearance in the Europa League so far this campaign and obviously needs game time if he’s to take his career to the next level.

This will be the Argentine’s sixth loan move since joining the Gunners in 2010.

The Royals are currently five points off the bottom in 18th place and need to string together some results if they’re to avoid relegation.

Here’s hoping Emi can give them a couple of big hands with that…

I wish Emiliano all the best.

They have gotten a good keeper!

With Cech leaving next summer there’s a spot as understudy to Leno up for grabs, so it’s now or never for Emi…

Personally would rather have loaned out Leno.

Rich

Martin, Leno is the worlds greatest goalkeeper, stop being such a stupid, toxic hater. (All things you’ve called me)
If I can’t criticise Ozil? Why are you allowed to criticise Leno?

Or is it 1 rule for you? And a different rule for everyone else?

Hantal

It’s been one or never for several season s now

Not sure why Emi has always been bypassed. From what I have seen he is as competent as any of the others we have had since red card waiting to happen Lehmann perhaps with the exception of Szczęsny but we let him go for what now seems a trivial reason.

Because Emi wasn’t a big money move? It’s all about the money these days, isn’t it? I do wish him well.

Hantal

As far back as Stuart Taylor it’s been the same, sczeszny was the first youth keeper to really get a shot

His cheeks were too rosey! Always looked like he’d been running miles when stood between the sticks

I wish keown Exe all the best

All the best to Martinez.

Yet to be determined if he will get a chance to challenge Leno.

This loan will go some ways toward that.

Frankly Leno is an OK keeper. Said that in the summer. he isn’t even third choice for Germany.

If I were the club, I’d persuade Cech to stay one more season particularly if our search result is poor in the summer for a replacement.

With regard other Transfer news, seems like Barca just signed Frenkie De Jong for 65m He’s a mid so if they have to make way wage wise, Denis still on the cards. Its all up to us now to show some testicular fortitude. If Unai thinks this is the bloke to help us, we should take the plunge, not dangle our feet in water. Come the summer should we not make CL bc we regrettably pussy footed around transfers this January, we will find prices significantly higher for the quality we want. The issue concurrent with Mslintat is one of… Read more »

I don’t think a Barca reject is the solution to our problems.

Our main problems don’t lie in attack, for one. Now, I’m not saying we are perfect in attack, but it really shouldn’t be a priority unless we can get something special across the line. Which, given the state of the finances (loans only!), is unlikely.

Tasmanian Jesus

Good luck to Emi. Seems like a very good and tidy keeper to me.

Goonerink

This seems a test to see if emi is ready to be lenos backup.

I rate emi highly but he is unproven.

But Reading already have Vito!!
