Koscielny reveals he had surgery on jaw injury

The good news after Laurent Koscielny got clattered in the face by the boot of Man Utd’s Romelu Lukaku was that he didn’t break his jaw.

The bad news appears to be the fact he’s still some way from a first team return after undergoing minor surgery when taken to hospital last Friday night.

Using his captain’s notes to provide an update on his situation, the Frenchman made it clear he wouldn’t be featuring tonight as he still can’t eat and remains in some pain.

“I really thought my jaw was broken,” he said. It was so painful.

“Thankfully it wasn’t, but I still needed some surgery on Saturday to take out all the blood clots. I need a bit of time to recover because I can’t eat or chew.

“Hopefully, I will be back soon.”

With Sokratis sidelined for a month, and Rob Holding out for the rest of the season, his place in the team for tonight’s encounter with Cardiff has been taken by Nacho Monreal.

Goonerrific

Who the hell downed this? You’re telling me he ain’t a legend??

Nosferatu

Nice to get this news now as a little icing on top of our first half crap cake.

Billy Bob

Know what you mean, totally depressing and really doesn’t build much confidence in what is left of this season!!!

kaius

Maybe after Wenger left it was a mistake not to kidnap Mike Dean and fly him and the entire squad out to Macchu Picchu to perform some kind of human sacrifice ritual to the gods that clearly have it in for us

Sancheezy

Our three best center backs injured and we’re in the transfer market looking for attacking midfielders… Ha! We are the Arsenal! Typical Arsenal.

Red-Sky

we lose the ball in midfield a lot. it is the main source of danger.

db10s

Also our midfielders are very static and reactive. Hopefully with a winger, the majority of risky play will be further up the pitch giving us time to get back into shape if anything happens.

Charvakan

We should make a move for Calum Chambers. Oh…

James

Even with Fulham’s appalling defends, worst in the league, the don’t play Chambers at CB. So not sure he is the answer

Dan

I thought that said his pace in the team for a second then read monreal ?
