Emery hoping for Ramsey return inside three weeks

Unai Emery says a quick chat with Aaron Ramsey has him hopeful that the Wales international will be able to return to action within three weeks.

The midfielder had to be substituted in the first half of last night’s 1-0 win over Napoli after tweaking his left hamstring as he overstretched into a challenge.

Given his obvious discomfort there were fears that it could be a season – and indeed Arsenal career – ending injury.

Thankfully, it looks as though we’ve not seen the last of Rambo.

Speaking on Friday, Emery revealed: “We spoke about that – ‘Maybe in two or three weeks I can play some matches’ – and we are going to wait for that.”

The boss also stressed how important the midfielder has been since he agreed to sign for Juventus. Emery had appeared reluctant to start Ramsey in games in the aftermath of the club pulling the plug on a new deal.

“He is a very important player but his confusion maybe did not give us the performances he is doing now,” Emery said.

“In the last few matches his performances have been amazing and helping us a lot in the key moments this season. His injury is bad news.”

While a three-week absence will rule out a farewell from the Emirates crowd, he could be back for the second leg of our Europa League semi-final away at Valencia and the final league game of the season at Burnley. All going well, he could sign off with a trip to Baku.

he’s been in top form lately. it’s a shame we might not be able to send him off properly. i had a feeling he would score the winner in the europa league final

VAR will solve the problem

Love the man…(still remember when he joined us as a teenager and have grown up to become a man…damn he maked me feel so old now)…but perhaps that’s probably one of the reason club did not extend his contract. When u r that injury prone…it’s hard to build a team around that.
So I can see why the club pulled the contract.

Archer

He doesn’t need to play to say goodbye. Just dedicate our last home game to him and make it an enjoyable one.

Santori

Return in time for Europa finals at very least.

If we face bloody Chelshit again, it would be wholly fitting if Rambo scores the winner yet again (and courtesy of yet another Giroud assist):D

Goonereality

It would be a big boost if he could be available, fully fit, for a game or two – particularly as those could be vital for the success of the season. Fingers crossed.

Nick

He can’t be relied upon. Can we please move on?

Goonereality

Somebody at the club must have disagreed with you given he was offered a new, better, contact (which was then withdrawn). Anyway, the proof will be how he performs for Juve. I suspect he’ll be a success there, but we’ll see.

Abhi

The lad who said no to Ferguson because he wanted to play the Arsenal way.. Hope he’s fit and scores the winner in Baku, cementing his place as an Arsenal legend. Love you Rambo!

NMArsenal

Hope Ramsey gets to say goodbye I’m the pitch Europa Final or not.

I am curious to see how Arsenal cope without him in the few matches since he will be gone. While he has been playing quite well I think Emery can make a winnable team without him with the current roster.
