The Arsenal Women Arsecast Episode 5 – The Irish edition

Welcome to a brand new episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast.

In the latest edition of the Arsenal Women Arsecast Pippa Monique and Tim Stillman chat to Ireland captain Katie McCabe about her season and how her career has turned around under the guidance of Gunners boss Joe Montemurro. We also talk to her international teammate Louise Quinn about her season and hear how she sealed her first professional contract in Sweden by editing her own highlights video!

As well as this, Tim and Pippa chew the fat over the Women’s World Cup. Pippa gives her reflections from on the ground in France and they talk about the application of VAR in the tournament and consider the “should women’s football have smaller goals?” debate started by Chelsea boss Emma Hayes. Tim and Pippa also give us their World Cup predictions. All that and more in the latest episode.

BTW, I agree with Emma Hayes about the goal sizes. Hurdles are set lower for women in athletics because we are smaller. But where I would disagree is the comparison with tennis – there is no reason for women to play only three sets, it’s just a hangover from the time when women would run 80 metres instead of 100m, weren’t allowed to run a marathon, etc. That *was* being patronising, but goal size reduction would be just accepting reality.
