Arsenal Women await Friday’s Champions League Draw with confirmation that they will be unseeded, meaning they could draw Lyon, Wolfsburg, Barcelona or Bayern Munich in the round of 32.
There is no group stage in the women’s Champions League. The qualifying rounds concluded last night and with the final 32 teams now confirmed, Arsenal will be in the unseeded half of the draw. A 5 and a half year absence from the competition has damaged their co-efficient. The Gunners are the only British team to have won the competition, back in 2007.

The first leg will take place at Meadow Park on 11th or 12th September, with the second leg away on 25th or 26th in a straight knockout format.
Arsenal will therefore draw one of current holders Lyon, Wolfsburg, PSG, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Slavia Praha, Brondby, Fortuna Hjørring, FC Zurich, BIIK-Kazygurt, Glasgow City, Atletico Madrid, Sparta Praha, FC Twente or Fiorentina. They cannot draw Manchester City, who are seeded.
The draw takes place on Friday at 13.30 CET and the draw will be streamed live on UEFA.com and we will of course bring you all of the details here on Arseblog News.

Not really sure about the teams that Arsenal women are going to face. Which one is stronger or which draw is more favourable to us. Is it possible for Tim to analyse abit of that?
Basically they absolutely want to avoid Lyon or Wolfsburg cos they would probably go out. Bayern or Barca are pretty evenly matched with Arsenal, PSG would be tough but they’d be slight favourites, ditto Atlético. The rest they’d be favourites for.
How far away are Jordan and Lia from a comeback?
With these two available for selection I feel we could give any of the opposing sides a run for their money.
Jordan isn’t far at all and is in contention for some level of involvement for the Spurs game. Lia is probably the autumn. Jordan will probably be fit for these games, but maybe not enough to start either leg. Lia won’t be back for these games I don’t think.

Fingers crossed for Fortuna Hjørring. Then we get to do another glorious trip with a busload of danish gooners, like we did years ago when they played the same fixture. It was magical. Hjørring is at best a small town, and they had “been informed a bus full of hooligans” would arrive to support Arsenal. We arrived (cheerfully drunk and in a wonderful mood) to Hjørring to be met by police escorts and enough uniformed officers to control a small civil war. Agree! Too much pessimism around at the moment based on a few pre-season games with experimental line-ups and players returning to work following the summer break.
