Arsenal have confirmed that Dani Ceballos will be sidelined for a few more weeks with the hamstring problem he picked up in the 1-1 draw with Vitoria.
The club’s latest medical bulletin claims the Spaniard won’t return to training until mid-December.
The Gunners play seven games between now and 15 December which means our midfield could come under considerable strain if we choose not to reintegrate exiled former captain Granit Xhaka.
Sead Kolasinac is also a doubt for Saturday’s game with Southampton having picked up a hamstring problem of his own. He’s currently being assessed but you’d assume with Kieran Tierney waiting in the wings, we won’t be taking any unnecessary risks.
Unai Emery faces the media this afternoon so if we hear any further details we’ll let you know.
Tierney masterclass incoming
What are we going to do with Daniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii???????????? We’re f**** up, guys! Pray or it’s relegation!
Hard not to think constantly playing Cebellos on the edge of the 442 diamond, therefore forcing him to run up and down the wing all game, has contributed to this injury. Willock is far more of an athlete and suited to that role. Yet another boneheaded decision to add to the list.
For the first time in 15 years I’m not looking forward to an Arsenal game.
Thank you Emery, the board and the Kronke’s.
Absolutely. I am, actually, not looking forward to any football. I have lost interest now. The dire football that Arsenal is playing is making me sick.
I can’t NOT watch it. In a way I wish I could. It is two hours of pain and misery, not just for the way we play but because I know that as long as Emery stays it will only get worse. If he stays to the end of the season and does not get his contract renewed then we are not going to be able to keep our strikers and we won’t be in any fit state to attract new ones of any class either. We will be viewed as a club on the slide and nobody of any… Read more »
I watched the wolves game while walking round Lidl. That was just about the respect the performance deserved.
Agreed, I almost always watch all televised game live, failing that watch the recording, highlights etc pretty much the same day.
I still haven’t the game against Leicester and don’t think I’ll either!
Oh, FFS.
Incoming more “we need to -insert at your own discretion-” quotes by Unai and the players…
…and then we don’t.
Hopefully this will force his hand and play our best players in their best positions. Tierney lb, Torreira cdm,. Xhaka on his couch. With Ceballoss injured surely time for OPAL forward line. If this doesn’t work against Southampton at home it major changes needed. Poch sacking shows the real art of management is to motivate multi millionaires to work hard and believe in your system. Much easier with young hungry players rather than seasoned entitled pros.
What total nonsense. If anything this forces his hand into playing Xhaka again. With Cebellos out Torreira is our only midfielder aged over 22.
Xhaka would be fine in midfield if he was not playing as a DM. He is playing in Torreira’s position, but with almost any other coach Torreira would be at DM and there would still be a place for Xhaka, and almost certainly as Captain (which he is actually good at and very experienced at), which he could have shown if he weren’t being misused equally as badly as Torreira by this twat of a coach we have now.
Was wondering when the old Arsenal “hamstring injury” issue would surface for this season.
Where have you been mate? Under Emery we’ve been hamstrung all season
??????
Emery is so bonkers that he’s probably pissed off that he has to use Tierney in the Premier League instead of Kola.
Emery’s dream midfield – Suarez, Nzonzi, Ceballos, Perisic.
Nzonzi, Benega, some other 6ft twat
The way I see it now Tierney will consistently play left back and Ozil has his chance to be true #10 with Matteo and Torreira playing behind him
Ceballos-Kolasinac nursing hamstring problems.
Not to mention a lack of any discernable talent…
All this talk about Tierney masterclass so silly. Similar to Torreira masterclass or Ozil masterclass.
Fact is Tierney has been good but so has Kolasinac. I don’t think theres much to set them apart and that’s prob a good thing.
Kolasinac is no more that much weaker to Tierney defensively as tierney weaker to kolasinac offensively.]
Absolute tosh.
Ceballos injury illustrates the fragility in midfield at the moment.
As if we aren’t struggling already obtuse fans have made the situation worse by alienating a perfectly good asset in Xhaka.
Now deep midfield is held by Guendouzi and either Willock or Torreira.
Neither have proven anymore secure or given us anymore dynamism and there is still fundamental lack of control (if not more) in midfield.
Plus there’s still side to side passing without Granit anymore than the defense is still making mistakes and leaking goals without Mustafi.
Absurd fans Arsenal.
