Last season Trae Coyle showed some surefire signs of progress, with the winger starting to perform with greater consistency at U23 level.
Coyle was subsequently rewarded with involvement with the first-team in a friendly against Brentford and trained with Mikel Arteta’s squad regularly towards the end of last season.
It was subsequently decided that the 19 year old would benefit from a loan spell, with Coyle spending this campaign in League One with Gillingham.
Matters have certainly gone very well for Coyle so far. He scored against Crawley Town in the EFL Trophy, dispatched the decisive penalty against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup and yesterday scored his first league goal as Gillingham got the better of Wigan Athletic.
Coyle, who has been joined by Zech Medley at Gillingham, will hope to retain his place in the starting lineup for his temporary side and continue to produce performances of a high standard.
Breaking into the first-team squad at Arsenal won’t be easy, especially with youngsters such as Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka ahead of him, but Coyle certainly won’t give up without a fight.
