Belgian striker claims Arsenal contact

Belgian striker Kevin Mirallas claims that his agent has spoken with Arsenal about a possible move, but hinted that his 8 million euro buyout clause at Olympiakos could be a stumbling block.

Here’s a transcript of the interview which was played on Sky Sports News this evening. You can make your own mind up whether the interviewer is spoon feeding the player the link with Arsenal.

No lead question, just straight into his first response…

Mirallas: It’s possible I’ll come and play in the Premier League, but the transfer is very difficult for my team and president.

SSN: But you would like to come and play in the Premier League for Arsenal? You know Thomas Vermaelen well; does he speak to you?

Mirallas: Thomas plays very good at Arsenal and now a lot of Belgian players are in the Premier League. It’s good for me, it’s good for my family and it’s a good opportunity, but I don’t know…it’s possible.

SSN: You’ve spoken to Arsenal or not?

Mirallas: My manager [yes]. Me? No.

SSN: Your manager has spoken to them?

Mirallas: Yes

SSN: So it may happen?

Mirallas: Yes, it’s good.

SSN: But it’s your club Olympiakos, maybe the price is too high at the moment?

Mirallas: My clause is 8 million [doesn’t specify pounds or euros, presumably the latter]. I don’t know. My manager speak [big sigh], if it’s good for me, go.

Interview ends…

So there you have it, you can make up your own minds about that.

Arsenal are thought to be negotiating with Olympiakos over the sale of Sebastien Squillaci at the moment, so a swap deal should just about do it.

Ref

It’s pretty obvious he wants to come to arsenal. So no persuasion needed incase we bid for him.

Finally back to those days when the arse was the arse!. Up!

Goonerhaea

Okay, let’s see what he looks like on youtube.

New Yorker

I liked what I saw on Youtube

jo elster

checking FM first then youtube;)

*Smokin'Gunner*

Park is better on FM…

Bunburyist

Are you watching the Belgian Ronaldo video with the Latino/a Ibiza song? Me, too!

I’m thinking me, Mirallas, and Giroud, dancing topless with umbrelly drinks in our hands, dusk, white linen pants.

Bunburyist

Here’s a little video I made with my good friends, Mirallas and Giroud (or Kev and Olly, as I call them), last time we went to the beach:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij0o7DbIHMs&feature=related

We call it “3rd-wave Feminism,” since we’re all a little tired of Judith Butler and Irigaray and stuff, and really, we’re just looking forward to more bikinis. Ain’t that right, fellas?!

Cazorla sang the Spanishy bits in the studio, because we didn’t want him at the beach with us. Too short, etc.

SpackTard

Giroud would do every one of them and still get three for the Arsenal the same afternoon.

He is just that good!

DENCHures

Lol @ 3rd wave feminism

Taking The Mik

Taking Squillaci in exchange is the Mirallast thing Olympicaos would accept.

Xav

Swap squillaci for mirallas?.

Miraculous!.

The Green Gooner

Don’t you mean Mirasquillous

Off to Wikipedia and Youtube then…

Bunburyist

Squillaci’s leaving? Was it our lack of ambition?

cas

Losing such a fine defender will be a step back. This is the reason van Persie accused the club, board and manager of lacking ambition.

Xav

No, our ambition is too high now, he just can’t take it anymore!.

MAllen

Fook me! Has someone put speed in Wengers white wine spritzer? I think he has been the busiest manager in this transfer window and the signings are all top drawer so far.
I cannot wait for Saturday. When is the first podcast Mr Blogs?

Rad Carrot

…Not heard of this guy, but a back-up striker is always welcome. Would prefer some sort of defensive back-up, but can’t be greedy after our successful transfer window so far.

AFC

Versatile, technical and skilled player who has also played against Arsenal in the CL. I guess he fits into AW’s classic profile. Given that discussions have been ongoing, we’re certainly clearing the Parks of this world?

iSayed

Another striker? With Podolski, Giroud, VP, Gervinho, Chamack, Park and Bendy still on the books? Strange.

Dr Baptiste

But they won’t all be registered. We’ve only registered 22 players so far, so there are 3 spaces still free

RKGooner

Hmm. 8 million for another striker is quite hefty considering we haven’t let any of our old ones go yet. But should we get rid of Bendtner, Chamakh, RvP and C.Y Park, having only signed two strikers so far (one of which doesn’t have to be a striker) we should have an open spot for another one.

Matt F

He looks like a Giroud/Bentley fusion.

Danny

your right!!

BillyBatts

What about his right?

Merlin's Panini

I had a dream last night that it was world war 2 and David Bentley decided he wanted to side with Germany because it looked like they were winning. I had a massive go at him about loyalty. Then we went on a rollercoaster and the cart derailed and crashed on the ground. Everyone survived except David Bentley who had turned into a pink screw. Just lying there on its side.

Dr Baptiste

What?

Merlin's Panini

yeh… i know.

Piers Morgan's punchable face

I think the moral of that story is that Bentley’s a bit of a knob.

dejilinho

I love Arsenal.

Tony Adams morning breath

The Arsenal

Tenacious Defence

Are we putting together a modelling agency? (I kid, I kid)

Badaab

Its one way to pay down the stadium debt, I suppose.

Wale

Quick feet, like hazard- without the cuntishness ofcourse.
U WENGA, SIGN HIM!

sharp

Sky sports = bunch of fucking cunts
John Terry = biggest cunt 2 have ever lived
Just saying.

Nii

go for him and isco and we are then

Fred

‘So it may happen?,

‘Yes it’s good’

This poor guy hasn’t got a clue what he’s being asked.

‘So, when you joining Arsenal?’

‘Yes it’s good’

‘You haven’t got a clue what I’m saying have you?’

‘Yes it’s good’

‘Do you take it up the arse?’

‘Yes it’s good’

Blu

Pretty funny. You made my day Arseur.

Conner

After he said “Yes, it’s good”, I instantly knew he was lost. I know the feeling quite well, and have got myself into some odd situations trying to stumble around in a language I know little of.

The JD Flick!!

HA!

O.S Ita-Ama

An obvious plant. Can’t shake the feeling.

The interviewer was leading him on. Kevin should have objected to those suggestion; obviously, he is no lawyer but he should have objected.

We are not signing him. We don’t need him. We don’t want a new Park as those around gives a depth of proven accomplishment. But Kevin is an unknown.

Blu

We have only two eyes mate but Wenga has three, so trust him.

Arsenalkid700

Eduardo was unknown as well. Now he is the most known player ever (FOR THE RIGHT REASONS GOD DAMN IT!)

Jackoss

Saw him play when he was in Saint Etienne. really inconstant and overrated. Doesn’t have what it takes to play for the Arsenal, in my opinion. Also, we don’t need that kind of player in the team any longer. Would be surprising if this happened.

Mikel, Andre's Best Friend

People improve. Podolski was pretty shit in Bayern, he’s good now.

Dr Baptiste

So you saw him between the ages of 19 and 21 when he would still have been developing his skills while he was a very prolific striker during the next 2 seasons with 34 goals in 52 starts.

Ref

So I’ll try one here.

He’s an awesome player, so if I were you Wenger i’d *kev in to his demands.

*refuses to get coat!.

Mental Strength

After looking at the team play against FC Koln, I’m not really too worried now if RVP leaves us. Although it was just Koln, but still, we’re looking good and I think we will be good without him as well now. and if we are buying this guy, then we’ve got backup as well. But still Wenger out!!!

Blu

.. yeah “Wenger Out”, Twitchy in. (I kid)

Arsenalkid700

I dont know man. We only won 2-1 against Malaysia and you know how big these pre-season results are. I mean Saudi Arabia might be better than England at football because a Saudi club beat Man City in pre-season.

C

Having thoroughly examined the video evidence, I can say, 100%, that I have absolutely no idea how good he is. He looks speedy and dribbly and shootey though.

Remarkable how little information youtube actually transmits…

AMURICAH

I saw a youtube video that made denilson look good…the only way to tell is to watch a lot of games

NewHavenGooner

If Wenger turns Squillaci into this guy, then he’s the greatest manager in history.

argonaut

Erm… don’t we need to offload a few players first?

Xav

Um, isn’t squillaci one of those players?

alex

I can’t see us paying 8 million euros for a striker when we’ve already signed two. Unless Arsene’s planning a switch to 4-4-2, but we have too many central midfielders to support that.
I’d imagine Arsenal have spoken to a lot of agents over the past weeks. I don’t think that really means anything.
I’ve never seen this guy play but honestly if we’re talking a swap deal with Squid… he’s got to be better than Squid, right?

Badaab

As long as he helps US score, and not the other side, he’s already an improvement over the Squid.

Russ

I reckon Wenger’s not buying another defender (unless an amazing deal comes along) as he’s been watching Bold work his magic on our current crop. This is going to be a very interesting season and I’m very much looking forward to it.

Here’s to stuffing Sunderland on saturday

MyArsenalView

The guy was tired and didnt really give a f*ck. Who doens’t want to play for Arsenal anyways?

Amit

Cue the mirallas to spurs rumours in the mornings. They don’t know it but we sometimes link ourselves to crap players so they buy them for big money, ne1 remember Zakora who whored himself to us and united for 2 seasons running?

Badaab

Shall we start the rumors that we’re in for Michael Owen so sperz try to buy him?

JVC

… And whisper that we’re interested in signing Squelchy after swapping him

Bee

this guy has arsenal dna

Drew

And the obvious questionable grammar.

Drew

After squids stint at olympiakos I expect him to join barcelona on a £15 million deal where they won’t care about his age coz he’ll be an outstanding talent!. He will then proceed to help them to the top of the la liga.
Recieve messi type salary and retire at age 40 to take up a coaching role at the club as he’s slowly mentored to be barcas next manager.
Kid’s on fire.

CAGooner

Reading this, I think the interviewer was trying to create a story where there wasn’t one. In other words, move on folks, there’s nothing to see here.

Butt Lightyear

To be honest, I think another striker is a MUST. I reckon we could go without Sahin, but if van P leaves, we’ll be left with only Podolski and Giroud. i reckon if we want to challenge for the title we will need at least 3 top quality strikers, Podolski, Giroud + this lad would mean we would be well stocked in case of injuries + suspensions + competition for places.

Arsene's Glasses

Wow!!! I’ve never been so excited about a season since the start of the season after the year of the ‘Invincibles’. Considering the fact that we signed 3 experienced players, we are still looking for more. *Sahin- Left footed Midfielder Attacking/Defensive (Wenger’s definition of balance in Midfield) *Ganso- Alternative signing with similar attributes to Sahin but more Flair. *Mirallas- Young Prospect as a possible starter for Cup games with TGSTEL buzzing off. I don’t think he’ll complain much for lack of games. Also, an alternative for Niang, maybe cheaper. Wow!!! So ecstatic I got all my channels(Sportsnet World, Score, Sportsnet,… Read more »

codenamegunner

how did you get all those channels share with the bloggers fellow arse!

leroy

i’m guessing he’s in canada because i have those as well 🙂

i think the game is on tsn2

Arsene's Glasses

Yeah I live in Canada and the game is surely on TSN2.

I’m loving this summer transfer window!

Badaab

If we add this guy, great. Would be a typical Wenger signing as I’d never heard of him until just now.
However, after watching him on YouTube (I know, I know), he looks a pacy player with an eye for goal. Seems to be a bit of a poacher. Also, right-footed, so would fill the hole left by Mr. Chips and TGSEL.
Also, these Greek sides have some leaky defenses. Like they’re all coached by AvB leaky. Or feature two David Luiz clones.
