The goal-stopping acrobatics of Bernd Leno and Aaron Ramsdale have been recognised by the Premier League with both keepers included on the shortlist for the 21/22 ‘Save of the Season’ award.
Leno has been recognised for a stunning save against Chelsea in our opening home game of the season where he tipped Romelu Lukaku’s close-range header onto the bar.
Ramsdale, who might easily have been nominated a number of times over, got the nod for a spectacular double save against Leicester City in October. He memorably tipped James Maddison’s free-kick onto the bar and then smothered Jonny Evans’ follow-up before Thomas Partey cleared.

Ramsdale’s backs-to-the-wall performance against Leicester was so impressive that it’s been nominated for a separate award; the Premier League ‘Game Changer’ award. The summer signing produced an array of incredible saves to preserve a clean sheet after the Gunners had stormed to a 2-0 lead at the King Power.

May I suggest that being fat is the least of your problems?
If we have achieved top four, Arteta could have been in the top three managers despite his bite-more-than-you-can-chew instincts and his limited man management nous.
Is there an award for “brainless comment of the season” ?
Ramsdale all day long. The more I watch that save, the more my jaw drops.
My favourite shot is that of Brendan Rogers: his hands went up in the air in celebration as the ball flew towards the goal. His face and the “wow” after the save is a collector’s item.
Even James Maddison was stopped in his tracks as he made to celebrate.

I can’t think of any save that was that dramatic this season.
The second award, I think, will go to Gundogan. Not necessarily the single biggest impact any player made on a single game (which, I suppose, it what the award is for, in theory). But Ramsdale’s performance against Leicester had no wider impact; Gundogan’s won the league.
Think it’s between him and Moura. Spurs were 2-1 down in the 90th minute and would have finished 5th if he hadn’t grabbed those two goals. Fuck off Brendan Rodgers.

The second entry for De Gea looked rather similar to a second Ramsdale save in the same match against Leicester.
