Arsenal have confirmed that Mazeed Ogungbo will spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Crawley Town.
The 19-year-old defender signed his first professional contract with the Gunners 12 months ago and heads to Broadfield Stadium to gain experience of senior football.
He’s been recruited by Kevin Betsy who joined Crawley as manager in the summer after a year coaching Arsenal’s under-23s for whom Ogungbo played 25 times last season.
“We have managed to secure a really talented young player in Mazeed, an amazing character,” Betsy told the Crawley website.
“A very good defender who is quick and has the ability to play in three positions. He is a great addition to the squad and will add competition for places in the back line.”
Best of luck to Mazeed in League Two.
Could be really beneficial to the club, happy to see a few more go get minutes for Betsy at his new club!
I don’t know enough about our academy but I would like to get into it tbh. Does anyone follow it and what’s the best way for me to start following it like the u23s

Jeorge Bird’s coverage of the Arsenal academy is the best you can get. Both his blog https://arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/ and twitter account https://twitter.com/jeorgebird are great.
Thank you
Side note: watching Cesc sign for Como is a, bit sad.
I think it speaks about his love for playing football and accepting his body. I am happy that he is grinding it on the pitch than just retiring. Would love if he helps them go up!
There are worse places to live for the twilight years of his playing career
I can think of plenty worse ways to spend the last years of you careers than living in a place as picturesque as Como, playing and owning a share of a team who are likely to be in Serie A sooner rather than later given the club’s enormous financial backing.
“The ability to play in three positions.”
Sounds like an Arteta player to me. 😊
Good luck, kiddo!
He obviously made an impression on Betsey. It’ll be interesting to see how he progresses this year.
