Arsenal have confirmed that academy goalkeeper Tom Smith has joined National League side Bromley for the 2022/23 season.
Smith signed a new contract with the Gunners in May and heads to south London to gain further experience of senior football.
He’s previously spent time with Salisbury, Dover Athletic and Welling United.
On signing for Bromley, Smith said: “I’m really excited, the boys are great, I’ve met everyone today, already know the gaffer and the goalie coach. It’s a good set-up here and I’m really excited.
He added: “I’d like to think I’ve got a good balance between what you’d call a modern-day keeper, being good with your feet and playing short all the time, as well as being an orthodox keeper, keeping the ball out of the net, making big saves, throwing your body where noone else wants to go at people’s feet.”
The ‘gaffer’ in question at Bromley is Andy Woodman who was head of goalkeeping at Arsenal for three years until March 2021.
Best of luck to Tom for the year ahead.
Good for his development
Good luck
