Five games into the Premier League 2 season, Arsenal U21s are top of the table with 13 points while they have also scored the highest amount of goals in the division with 16.
Mehmet Ali’s team have been very exciting to watch so far this season and the variety of attacking options in the squad is one of the key factors behind their flying start.
Khayon Edwards is the first choice striker and the 18-year-old started well but after he was ruled out through injury Nathan Butler-Oyedeji has stepped up of late.
The wide options are also of a high standard, with Charles Sagoe Jr having adapted seamlessly to this level on the left flank. On the right wing Amario Cozier-Duberry is one of the youngest players in the team at 17 but is also usually one of the standout performers.
Another attacker, Billy Vigar, came off the bench to excellent effect in the win against Blackburn Rovers yesterday.
Vigar is usually a striker but he is also capable of playing out wide and he provided an assist for Jack Henry-Francis shortly after coming on.
There are others too, such as wingers Kido Taylor-Hart and Joel Ideho, while George Lewis is also still on the club’s books.
Marquinhos started the season with the U21s and excelled but the second-string are still doing well without him.
Ali can be safe in the knowledge that even if some of his attacking options are unavailable he has plenty of other choices to consider.
