Arsenal restored their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with an impressive 3-0 win at Fulham courtesy of first half goals by Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard.
All three were set up by Leandro Trossard who won the man of the match from Sky Sports which he was awarded by his captain.
Here’s what the two had to say when they faced the cameras…
On the performance…
MO: We did really well from the start. We came out with full gas to control the game and scored some good goals in the first half. We started the game strong and after that we controlled most of the game. The second half was a bit different but really it was very good.
On whether this was a better way to win than last week’s late show…
LT: I think both [are good]. Obviously, when you win, you’re always happy. We knew it would be a tough game and we did really well. As Martin said, we scored three goals in the first half and we kept a clean sheet as well today, so that’s a perfect win for us. We’re really happy with it.
On a hat trick of assists making for a good afternoon…
LT: Indeed. I’m really happy with it as well, like I said, I always try to contribute with goals and assists and help the team going forward. Today it went my way. I’m just really happy that we won and we go forward from this.
On Trossard’s assists underlining his quality…
MO: Yeah, he’s brought some amazing things to the team. I love to play with him. He’s always there to link-up, he always looks for the combinations and when he’s in the box he’s good at finding the right pass like he did today and like he’s done in the other games. I’m really happy to have him on the team.
On a typical Odegaard finish…
MO: It was a good ball from Leo again, just over the head of the defender, I kept the composure there and put it in the corner. It was a good one.
On the boost provided by Gabriel Jesus’ return…
MO: I think it’s a massive boost, he’s been out for a while now and we know what he’s going to give to the team again. We’re all excited to have him back, I’m very, very happy for him and the team.
On being 5 points clear with 11 games to go…
LT: How does that sound? Same as last week. It’s 11 finals for us, we take it game by game. Like I said, we’ve done really well last week to come back from a difficult position, today we’ve done it differently. It’s also all about keeping clean sheets. Today we did a great game but if you keep a zero, you only need to score one. Today was three and we’re really happy with it. Like I said, we take it game by game and move forward.
On Arsenal entering the business end of the season…
MO: It’s the same focus, we said it the whole season, we take it game by game. We focus on the next game, the next training session and that’s all. Nothing changes until we come to the end of the season. We’re just going to keep doing the same things, keep working hard and we’ll see where it takes us.
All sounding very sensible and balanced, knowing that something great is possible but not getting too excited yet.
Great attitude!
30m a pop for these two, not bad …
Less for Tross wasn’t it? Bargains anyhow!
Apologize for repeating myself, though I can’t remove that one from my head….
“oooohh Leaaanndro troooossaaard”
So much fun to watch these two play. Not raised at Arsenal but you could almost imagine they had been… one touch, close control, always looking to combine and find space and seem like lovely guys. Tross has literally slotted right in, zero adaptation period.
Trossard is the real deal.
Perfect start to my birthday week. St totteringham day edging closer. Can’t wait
Congrats. Here’s wishing you all the best in life. As your days so shall be your strength.
Blessings 🙏🏾
Would love for Arsenal to win. Would only be fitting since it’s my birthday year
We found our Santi Carzola.
…and our Robbie Williams all at once.
The Title is ours.
Not yet! One game at a time!
Trossard is our third-choice central attacker. That’s how you win titles.
I think he’s overtaken Nketiah and is second choice now, but the point still stands. Good depth. Good times.
