Arsenal have rewarded Aaron Ramsdale for his impressive start to life at Emirates Stadium with an improved deal that ties him down until 2028.
The England international, 24, was under contract until the summer of 2025, and the Gunners had the option to extend that by a further season, however, they felt he deserved a pay rise that befits his status as the undisputed first-choice keeper.
Signed from Sheffield United in 2021 in a deal worth £24 million, Ramsdale arrived to provide competition to Bernd Leno but needed only two months to usurp the German and win over a fanbase that had been largely sceptical about his signing.
He’s since made 75 appearances for the club, kept 28 clean sheets and made a number of spectacular saves along the way; this year alone his acrobatics have been nominated four times for the Premier League’s Save of the Month.
Mikel Arteta says, “We’re all so happy that Aaron has signed a new contract. The way Aaron has developed over the past two years has been exceptional, with his performances, contribution and overall adaptation to the club.
“It’s great that we’re continuing to build our future with our biggest talents in our young squad.
“We’re all looking forward to enjoying many more years of Aaron the player and the person at the football club.”

For Saliba, it is going to be tough. PSG needs to rebuild around young french talents after the failure of Messi, Neymar, Verratti etc. Media over there are already pressuring them. Can Arsenal match a big offer without breaking the wage structure?

He’d be utterly stupid to leave a well-run club on the rise in the best league in the world, with a young and promising manager who trusts him and fans who adore him, to go to that circus where the current manager won’t last 6 months and the fans are assaulting players at their homes.
I know he wants to earn his place in the France team, but another season at Arsenal like his last – without the injury – and he’ll definitely overtake Konate.

Mbappe is still young but can’t help but feel his obsession with his brand and image are hurting his career. His every move has been coordinated with social media and brand visibility at the forefront. I think we can offer what’s reasonable within the squad structure, there’s no need to be bent over a barrel(we’ve been there before). If he leaves, it’ll be unfortunate but I would rather players want to play for AFC and see the project as something to dedicate to. We’re in a good moment as a club and AFC is the place to be for young, talented footballers.
I am not worried about PSG. He would be a fool to join that sh*tshow. Sure, they can offer him more money, but at this point in his career Arsenal just offers a lot more to him in other areas. I am more worried about someone like City or Madrid coming for Saliba. That will be tough to resist.

Didn’t see the need to let Leno go for a keeper who just got relegated but Ramsdale convinced me that I should sometimes believe in the process.
Great news, and there is more development to come from him over the next few years. If he can do that he’ll be up there with the best goalies of his generation.
Martinelli improved a lot; Saka is arguably one of the best wingers of the game rn; Odegaard our best captain since Cesc…they all deserve, but I think Ramsdale should win AFC’s POTS: always delivered, except the Southampton match.

He is a fucking hero and the times he has saved our necks far outweigh the odd mistake. Iron them out and he has the potential to be best keeper in the UK no question.
