Arsenal brought the curtain down on the 2023/24 campaign with a comfortable 5-0 win over Wolves at Emirates Stadium.
With the visitors firmly ensconced in mid-table and Arsenal confirmed as runners-up, this was a relaxed affair in the north London sunshine.
On his final appearance for the club before an expected summer move to Bayer Leverkusen, Granit Xhaka took the game by the scruff of the neck scoring an early brace.
The midfielder headed home a Jesus cross from close range to break the deadlock and not long after tapped home from inside the six yard box after a darting run by Saka and a flicked pass by Odegaard provoked a miskick inside the six-yard box that diverted the ball into his path.
Fresh from committing his long-term future to the club, Saka was a constant threat and it was little surprise he got himself on the scoresheet. With a quick touch, he moved himself onto his left foot on the diagonal before curling home.
It was more of the same after the break with Arsenal mounting wave after wave of attack and Wolves resorting to lumping the ball clear for brief periods of respite.
It felt like another goal was always on the cards and sure enough, Gabriel Jesus produced a fine header from close range to convert a Leandro Trossard cross. Jakub Kiwior then added a historic fifth, taking the season’s tally to 88 goals; the most the Gunners have ever scored in a Premier League season.
The win means Arsenal end the campaign with 84 points, a total that has only been bettered twice in the Premier League era by Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles and his 01/02 double-winning side.
It’s been one hell of a ride and today’s crowd stayed behind in numbers to show their appreciation. There was also an opportunity to wave goodbye to a few faces, most notably Granit Xhaka who is set to leave the club after seven seasons.
Now attention turns to how we go one step better. A busy summer awaits…

Despite the disappointment towards the end, looking at our season from a distant perspective, we should be proud of our team. We managed to push City till the end and finished comfortably 2nd. Squad can only get better and we’re back in the CL…
Not losing to citeh would have meant -4 to them and + 2 to us, and Premier league champions. Sometimes we need to play for a draw

Yeah we lost the title to man city. But :
1) We were heads and shoulder above anyone else.
2) We are the youngest team in the league and we’re only gonna get better.
3) We had an exciting season and the connexion between the players and the fans is amazing.
4) WE ARE BACK IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
So proud of this team and these players.
Wonderful stuff! Plus, Spuds out of Europe and Big Sam is relegated. I’m not even thinking about next season. This was marvelous.

Today Mrs Q and I celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary (which, apparently, is known as the Coral anniversary) We went for a nice meal and stayed in a plush hotel last night and then today (thanks to a favour called in from a mate) we had a couple of tickets upstairs in the Clock End.
