Arsenal to aid Poland’s Euro 2012 preparations

Arsenal have signed a contract to provide stewarding expertise to the Polish football authorities (PZPN) ahead of the UEFA European Championships next summer, according to the Press Association.

Poland has been under the international microscope in recent months with their infrastructure preparations for the showpiece tournament falling behind schedule and with incidents of crowd violence overshadowing the climax of the country’s domestic league.

Speaking to PA, parliamentary under-secretary for state, Tomasz Polgrabski, revealed the details of the deal signed with the Premier League club as Poland bid to deal with their long-running history of football hooliganism.

“Our FA has signed a contract with Arsenal,” confirmed Polgrabski.

“Our staff went to Arsenal to learn how to teach the stewards. Now we have a programme to implement and are producing better stewards who are well qualified and are capable of dealing with matters as they arise.”

Supporters from two of Poland’s most well known clubs, Legia Warsaw and Lech Poznan, clashed in violent tussles at the Polish Cup final last month in an incident which forced the country’s Football Association to ban away supporters from stadia.

So the Euros will be a quiet affair with everyone made to sitdown?

Gunnersaurus

Not entirely sure what our stewards are able to teach about crowd trouble. Worst thing I’ve seen at the Emirates is two 10-year-olds fighting over one of my namesake’s cannon-fired t-shirts.

As much as I would like to admire Arsenal for helping out, I wish they would soley concentrate on the issues within the club. It’s not exactly all going to plan at present is it? I did not pay a 6% increase to help out the Polish FA.

Pull your finger out Arsenal.

Jack

Its a fake with this “crowd violence”. Media made most of it to turn peoples attention from the catastrophic financial situation in the country.
Dont believe it!
