Arsene Wenger has revealed that Laurent Koscielny will miss the game against Norwich tomorrow. The French international joins Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs on the sidelines having picked up a knock during the Interlull.
That means Thomas Vermaelen and Per Mertesacker will continue their effective centre-half partnership with Johan Djourou providing back-up from the bench.
The manager also confirmed that Lukas Fabianski will miss three months as the ankle injury he picked up in training requires surgery.
As for Jack Wilshere, Wenger says the midfielder is 80% match fit but not quite ready for action just yet.
“He needs one more game,” he said, “maybe Monday night (U21s), then he will be back.”
It seems likely the Capital One Cup game against Reading could be his first start, although it’s not inconceivable that he could make the squad for the QPR game next weekend.

Would be nice to see Djourou get some playing time, as long as the 3 points are in the bag of course, he’s had some critisism but lets not forget he was playing out position most of the time and i don’t think we would find a better player who would be ok with not playing most of the time.

What a difference a year makes, who would have thought that this time last year we would be without – Wilshere, Theo, Gibbs, Rosicky, Diaby, Kos, Sagna and Szcz and still be able to put out a team capable of beating anyone on their day.
This is the true strength we have lacked for so long!
U made a good point on what we have lacked in the past. We need more players to cover all the depth in the team when there is injury to any of the key player or suspension.

It’ll be better to bring him on during the 60th minute of our next home game so he can get the deserved applause. The crowd will go mental and that will be worth it’s weight in gold to a player like Wilshire. Starting him straight off in a game might be a bit much but once he’s watching from the sidelines he’ll be chomping at the bit to get on the pitch

Is it not time to sell Fabianski already? I mean he is injured most of the times and when he isn’t he cannot compete with Szcz. I also find Vito to be better than him. Guess he should go if he wants to play regular football.
By my calculation we have 8 players out szcesney fabianski koscielny gibbs wilshire rosicky diaby walcott. i assume that sagna and frimpong are now fit as they have been totally ignored in the injury roll call. so hopefully they make the bench meaning we dont have to draft in the squid or chamakh.
