It looks as though Laurent Koscielny’s phone may have had a couple of texts from Arsene Wenger when he returned from international duty…
Following a frank interview undertaken in Brazil, which was massively skewed by headline writers across Europe, the centre-back has stressed that he’s certainly not looking for a move away from Arsenal and even gone so far as to praise the club’s financial policy even though he believes the squad needs strengthening.
Here’s the important bit of a lengthy interview carried by lepopulaire.fr this weekend:
Q: Let’s talk about Arsenal, sometimes people say your club lacks ambition, is that something you feel as a player?
LK: Not necessarily. Instead, we’re very ambitious, we always play all games to win.
You can’t always though…
Well that’s because other clubs have more strength.
This is the rub right? You seem yourself to regret this?
I never said that. I feel very well at Arsenal. I am aware it’s a great club and I have a four-year contract. I know there’s talk about me and Barcelona and Bayern, but people make their own conclusions. [possibly down to his agent?]
The facts are simple: I have a contract at a club where I am happy. Full stop. We all know how situations change in football but I repeat that I’m not one to make castles in the sky. I live in the moment, I seek nothing but to play the best I can.
In my mind my goal is to win trophies with Arsenal with whom I’m about to start pre-season training. I’ve no ulterior motives. I’m at a healthy club, which plays beautiful football, doesn’t lose money every year, sticks to its own budget and plays in the Champions League. Not many players can say the same.
Arseblog News suggests that draws as definitive a line under things as is possible.
For those who like a bit of background, Laurent also answered questions on his favourite football, what it’s like playing Messi, which opponent he hates playing against the most and how he never really believed he’d make it to the top level. Check it out here.

Cheers to @SiuFay for the link and to @sebdutrieu for clarification on the translation.
LK speaks English very well. Do you think players are judged on their English skills before being brought to the premier league? Everyone at Arsenal seems to have more cohesive English skills than locals lol.
Interview has been translated from French.
Actually i think french is more important at Arsénal than english 😉
Diaby, Koscielny, Sagna, Giroud and Coquelin compared to everyone else. Yeah, sure…
Sonogo? 🙂
Castles in the sky was really cool eh.
Should have included this too
“We need two to three top players to take a step, I sometimes regret not having them with us, it is true.”
And the best of all. When asked which one is the impressive stadium
“Camp Nou is really special. But Newcastle, Munich, Old Trafford are also very beautiful stadiums. And to be honest, my favorite is ours: the Emirates.”
Great! No more headlines!(yeah right, like that gonna stop the hit whores)

Breaking: Koscielny denies interest in retiring and building castles in skies.
In a sensational outburst the Arsenal stopper has revealed that things have reached crises point, and that he is now unable to contemplate a future at the club, saying ‘…situations change in football…I live in the moment’. The defender underlined his come-and-get-me plea by complaining ‘…other clubs have more strength’.
I don’t think anyone in their right mind ever thought Kos was doing anything else other than stay with us.
Besides, he’s rapidly becoming a bit of a legend with important contributions at crucial moments.
Ignoring the bleedin’ obvious fact that someone else would be playing in his place, it’s difficult contemplate where we’d be without him.
I love our hard frenchman with his bloody brilliant spiky hair. Was brilliant in 2011-12 as well lest we forget. Rapidly becoming one of the best CBs in world football.
Brilliant!

I can bet we will still see the stupid media link him with other clubs. Wait for a day where there are no stories to print and we shall see the stories resurfacing again. Those irritating assholes..
EXCLUSIVE: Stuart Robson: “Arsenal’s Back Rubs have Suffered Under Wenger.”
Considering he used to play in French Ligue 2 until 2009, shows how hard this guy has worked to get to where he is today.
Just goes to show what a load of old boll*cks is written in the press these days about transfers.
This morning’s look at the paper has provided what is probably the largest pile of antique testicles ever seen in one place.
They’re linking us with Torres now…..
Still waiting for signings im sure the transfer window is open where is Higuain?
He’ll get here when he gets here.
Reasons 6 and 7 – shower time with Mikel and Olivier.

“You can’t always though…
Well that’s because other clubs have more strength.”
Actually , the exact translation of what he says in French is:
“Well that’s because other club have better squads”
I know both translations are a bit similar, but he said “better squads”.
“Justement c’est là où le bât blesse, non ? Vous-mêmes semblez le regretteræ Il nous faudrait deux-trois joueurs top pour franchir un pas, il m’arrive de regretter de ne pas les avoir avec nous, c’est vrai.” Bloggs, here is the translation of the quesiton, and LK’s answer to that question (the order of which is inaccurate in article here): This is the rub right? You seem yourself to regret this? LK: “We need 2 or 3 players to make the step. It’s true that I regret it sometimes that we don’t have them with us.” This is quite a big… Read more »
” 2 or 3 +TOP+ players”. Sorry
Maybe I’m a bit more cynical than everyone else, but when I read that article I don’t see this interview as Kosceilny quashing any interest from other parties. I’ve heard the ‘ I’ve got a long contract and am not looking to move …but we all now how things can change in football’ line many times before. It’s hardly telling us he loves Arsenal and would never consider playing for anyone else. Lets remember he’s a footballer and trusting them at their word is foolhardy, if something bigger comes along he’ll probably want to take it, but in the mean… Read more »
This is top level football, and this is as close as it gets to commitment to a club, contractually and otherwise. What do you want, someone to sign their Arsenal contract in blood and have a suicide clause written in to ensure they never ever leave the club? I want loyalty from the players as much as anyone else, but let’s be pragmatic here and not expect them pledge the sun and the moon to stay. How one can criticize a statement like this is beyond me. What more would you have him do then?
I love you Kos, you are one of my faves along with Jacky, Rambo, Per and Gibbo.
Ian, I’m not critising the statement, just saying I don’t take it as gospel that he doesn’t/wouldn’t want to go to Bayern or Barca if the chance arose. I can’t get excited about a bland statement that intimates that you never know what might happen.
In that case I read your comment wrong and fair play to you, I’m in the same camp.
I’m happy that he’s staying, but what happens in the future will happen, we know nothing of the inner workings of the club and how that plays out in Koscielny’s mind so I prefer not to get too invested in it. Only way to stay sane!
