Olivier Giroud believes Arsenal must bolster their attacking options before the transfer window closes even if it means competing for a place with a high profile star.
The French international appears to be the club’s first choice (only?) striker as things stand and picked up where he left off in pre-season with a tidy finish to open his account against Villa. However, with Yaya Sanogo lacking any top flight experience and Lukas Podolski seemingly destined to ply his trade on the left, there were few options to replace the former-Montpellier man as he tired in the second half.
Having welcomed links with Luis Suarez earlier in the summer, the attacker told Le Parisien (link paywalled, alternative here) after Saturday’s opening day defeat that he still thinks arrivals are needed.
“In my opinion, it’s necessary for the club to recruit another striker.
“Obviously, I think about it a little bit. It may have an influence, especially if it’s a high profile signing.
“It’s useless lamenting this though. I know what I have to do and what I’m capable of. I’m focusing on me and my work. The coach is counting on me, so I don’t think too much.”
Looking back on his first year in England, Giroud continued:
“The first year I acclimatised! The season was good, but I know I can do better. I learned much and improved a great deal. I know how the defenders behave, how to position against them, and how to be smart in the duels. This experience is invaluable.
“Individually, I want to score more than 17 goals in my last year, and do better than my 10 assists. I want to be more decisive and effective.”
Arseblog News has already documented the number of times players have spoken in the press about the need for new recruits. For some time now it’s felt like they’re pushing the boss to act as much as the fans.
On one level it’s great that they are receptive to competition, on the other it’s very worrying that squad morale could be seriously damaged by inaction. If they think extra quality is needed to challenge for honours, do they believe they can achieve that aim without it? Perhaps not…

The list of things we need to do is long and depressing.
The knock on effects are depressing as well, Match of the day is usually the only tv I watch but it was painful, MOTD 3 is not for the faint hearted.
I am one of those who read through every article on this site but never leaves a comment for reasons only known to who knows… but the events of the last few days and dare I say months have left this churning feeling in my heart, head, souls (Whatever) to the extent that I am having night mares at night with some related to my school days. I am from a country where french and english are the official languages, and even though my part of the country is anglo saxon, we are forced to study the french language ‘thoroughly’… Read more »
Squandered his money on women and drink? Sounds like a solid investment to me.
As a famous man once said
“I spent most of my money on drink and women, the rest I wasted”
It is impossible to squander money on the women and the booze
Are you Rambling Pete in disguise?
Not the original. And it wasn’t funny.
I sincerely wasn’t trying to be funny or trying to imitate the noble gentle man (Rambling Pete). I was just trying to put across my feelings in the best possible manner which comes come to my head confused head. This just brings back memories to mind about my dean of studies during my school days who insisted on using an older version of a text books after those version had been revised three times and a whole new version was now in the syllable. We were all performing very well in all the pre-GCE test the school organized and during… Read more »
Well this must be music to Podolski’s ears. Doesn’t exactly show confidence in his ability combined with his cameo at left back against Villa.
Relax people we have made a bid for yohan cabaye and Arda turan is on his way, awaiting medical.
Now a striker is next while wenger is also on the look out for a versatile defender. preferably richards or Alderweid.
Yeah relax, the North London derby is 2 weeks away and if things don’t change at super super top top speed we will go into the game out of the Champions League and the very real prospect of the scum larging it on our patch. Relax!
Richards would fit just nicely as he spends most of his time on the treatment table. Arda Turan on his way for a medical first I’ve heard. Hope your right and Cabaye would be nice but Newcastle will demand a lot more than 10 million.
List of players that were available this transfer window is also long and very depressing. I don’t remember a recent transfer window with so many great players, yet we got none….
Cavani, Higuain, Falcao, Rooney, Suarez, Isco, Neymar, Paulihno, Jovetic, Soldado, Gustavo, Fernandinho, Gotze, Negredo, Bernard, Navas, Shurle, Gomez, Fred, Rodriguez, Illarramendi, Ceasar…
Who is Listening?
Jesus, according to the strange man in town with a microphone.
Jesus likes to watch… he’s an uber lurker…
I mentioned it some weeks before, I would really really be interested in an (Arseblog) article about Dick Law, our transfer negotiating team or the club’s structure/work policy in this regard. These people are as important as the manager, CEO, owner etc. If they are working 24h, then where are they, doing what? As a comparison to this summer’s disaster: take a look at Borussia Dortmund, they had a very similar “transfer war chest” this year (due to the Götze transfer). What did they do: they bought a classy defender, one of the quickest wingers/strikers that there is and a… Read more »
Yeah I’d be really interested in this as well. I want to give Wenger the benefit of the doubt, but I’m struggling to at the moment. I find it so hard to believe that the guy who built our invincibles team would really believe this squad is big enough. Forget good enough, we don’t even have enough players, let alone good enough players. Could Wenger really have lost it so badly that he doesn’t see that? What he says in public doesn’t mean anything, if he had asked for the board to sign 10 players and they didn’t sign any… Read more »
If we lose against Fenerbache and get knocked out of the CL in the second tie, I can honestly see the fans voice utter displeasure and discontent at the manager in every single game. Even if we were to go through the tie and refuse to reinforce, Wenger will receive ‘spend some f**king money’ chants in every single game. If he does finally put his hand in his pocket and it’s not enough, he will be scrutinised by the fans at every game this season when we are drawing or losing against teams where we are expected to win comfortably.… Read more »
The fans have zero patience and zero belief that he is the right man
isnt that wrong though? i find it offensive and insulting that a bunch of mugs who havent even kicked a football can pass on definitive statements about our manager’s ability. dont you?
Hunter, please fuck off you spurs troll
Forgive me, but it seems like by Hunter’s logic, we shouldn’t get angry at, for instance, politicians, since none of us have held a political office. I find that somewhat hard to fathom. You don’t have to be a genius to see that the club is being mismanaged at the moment, for crying out loud!
Apparently he had helped with a couple of notable deals hitherto becoming our negotiator. This link is to an article describing Dick Law’s appointment when it was made. There are a couple of interesting comments in there (if the article is to be believed): “The club are adamant that Law is not to be regarded as a director of football and that he is only a consultant to the club rather than a full-time employee.” “Arsène Wenger has always been against bringing in a high-profile name to fill the (David Dein’s) role.” Perhaps something has changed since, but if his… Read more »
Matt: True, something else must be going on, but it really needs to be addressed. It’ll only get worse.
Swish: true, no CL qualification would be “the” game changer since it’s the one thing AW has shown success and consistency. I know it’s a hard and tough dilemma, but could/should we fans really wish for our club to be knocked out. I really don’t know. A tough one.
Spooner: Thanks for the link, very helpful indeed.
@AFC
Wenger can’t go public on internal mismanagement because that will affect share value. This is where Kroenke’s influence comes into the equasion, he is not taking money from the club, we know that, but it is in his best interests to maximise profits on shares therefore share value must be at top top top value and ever increasing.
I might be wrong but thats what all this stinks of.
But I fully agree with all the points that you raised there, there is something drastically wrong internally at Arsenal that is taking this club off its wheels.
I feel sick. What is going on at Arsenal when even the starting striker wants the club to sign a big money striker?
Spot on with your question, does this mean Giroud know’s he can’t deliver on his own? . . . .Let him mentor Sanogo then, hehehe!!
I think it means he’s watched an entire season of football before, so he knows that a club with only 1 recognised striker has never challenged for anything. Ever. When a team wins the league, they always have a selection of strikers who score goals. Go back as far as you like, no team has won the league without that. Giroud is saying he’s sooner be part of a squad that challenged for the league than play every game for a team that might manage to scrape fourth if Spurs choke again. A great attitude from a player being let… Read more »
No, don’t feel sick, Giroud is right, he is not being selfish and put the interest of the club above his own. He knows we could be playing as a top side 60 to 70 game a year, one striker can’t do it on his own. Even if we sign top class striker there will be playing time for him 30/40 games a season.
Not a slight on Giroud in the slightest, more the state of the club. The man, at least in terms of personality, is utterly top notch.
then wenger will say ‘but we signed sanago’
Well said Olivier. See if you can convince Wenger to spend some f###ing money!
Oh and why you’re at it, we could do with a centre-back, defensive mid and maybe even a right winger/attacker. Merci!

damn this phone! must have some dick law DNA.
meant to you tube “Tanzanian woman showing amazing football skill” now my phone has chamakhed me. cheap/free things come at a price. thanks to HFB now I need a new phone to compete with this. but it has to be top top quality
I realise the cult of personality is dangerous, particularly in the current climate, but Giroud seems a model footballer. Positive, humble and hard working. And a HFB.
He’d make a great Model Model too
times are tough. Feels a bit like the club is lost at the moment..
Lost? It’s all at sea with the captain power drunk on his own self worth. Arsene wake up the season has started and we are already adrift.
That’s an awful lot of metaphor for a Monday morning…
Apologies I was watching master and commander last night so maybe it had an influence on me :))

What strikers are there that are good enough and available?! Cant think of anyone
The point is Ted, they were available earlier in the summer.
Exactly, but theres still some:
Lewa (Durtmond would love escape losin him to Bayern),
J.Martinez (never seen him play but Porto strikers been always class),
Suarez,
Rooney,
Ibrahimovic..
They arent all bad :/
Martinez is the only realistic one of this bunch.
To be frank, at this point of the summer, the only other realistic, high quality target left is Michu (and this isn’t based on paper talk, it’s based on an assessment of the best strikers in Europe last year). Aubemeyang, Benteke, Negredo or Soldado might have been realistic high quality targets, however one’s re-signed and the others have already moved. The Higuain deal appears to have been messed up. Suarez, Rooney etc. – a pipe dream unfortunately – something Arsene and some fans appear not to realise, which I find remarkable.
very few and even fewer who would join us without qualifying for UCL
Jackson Martinez, still think Suarez would go for an outrageous sum though, Wayne Rooney, maybe somebody from Juventus, Huntelaar, Cisse from Newcastle, Burak Yilmaz, Michu, Doumbia. I think their availability is based solely on the price plus now everybody knows that Arsenal is in desperate need of transfers. Alternatively Podolski could be moved to striker on permanent basis and another winger could be brought in. It is questionable whether some of this players are better than Giroud but they’re definitely better than Sanogo at least at this moment. But the fact is that I know absolutely nothing about managing a… Read more »

Thinking a bit left field but what about Lewondowski on a season loan while he’s waiting to go to Bayern? A long shot I know but would be a fantastic addition.
all arsenal needs is just two players. Messi and Ronaldo. Then we can be sure of top 4 for a start.
Why would Borussia want to do that? Give me ONE reason.
To get a player off their wage bill who they know is fucking off anyway at the end of the season. That gives them room to bring a new striker in which they are going to have to do when he does go. They can’t sell him because they know he only wants to go to Bayern and they’ve already said he’s not going there this season. So maybe they would be glad to see the back of a player who hasn’t got his heart in it anymore and pay his wage to somebody who does. Hey, I did say… Read more »
Cannonfodder they aim to keep lewondowski for the season now so Aubemeyang can spend the season getting used to the Bundesliga. Something we should have done last season but that’s why Dortmund are on the up. They didn’t want to sell there prize asset but when they had no choice they went out and spent the money straight away. We should have added three or four players weeks ago it is blatant mismanagement that we should start the season with such a small squad it seems that we have to rely on kids on Wednesday if all our injury worries… Read more »
They just gave him a 5m euro bonus for sticking around for the last season. So there goes your theory.
Err eric lamela, james rodriguez, suarez (if youre really willing to spend), either of Ba, torres or lukaku (one im assuming has to leave), rooney, burak yilmaz.
Strikers are there and were there. but “show me better players in the market than mine” wenger doesnt think so. Now even Giroud know another striker is needed. what else is there apart from buying!
Lamela is great, but he’s a right winger and Roma just sold Osvaldo. Rodriguez went to Monaco this summer. I’d take Lukaku any day, but I just can’t see Chelsea selling one of their strikers, and especially not to us. Same for Rooney and Suarez. Ylmaz, though, could be kind of “Eduardoesque”.
I meant to say *jackson martinez anyway agreed about Burak, yilmaz he looks like he will be a one hit wonder, though would still improve us. that’s how bad we are.
Hmmh! I dont know why we never moved in for DIEGO COSTA as he’d provide the agility, and swiftness that we lack in giroud or and sanogo.
i’m surprised no one is talking about CHICHARITO, he’s brilliant enough.
Anyway, when all is said and done and we’re fed nothing but rumours. Why Bendtner is still here will become more clear.
Good question. Especially as we are looking for something different from Giroud. Someone more technical, so that pretty much rules out players like Jackson Martinez, Dzeko or Gomis.
Most of the top strikers either won’t be available or were already transferred this summer. But there are still a few decent players out there, maybe not “top top quality”, but decent enough.
And I’m still convinced that Podolski could do the job and that it might be easier to get a really good winger (Willian).
I still can’t work out why Wenger won’t play Podolski up front, heh, or even at all !!!
Has he pissed Wenger off or something ? Or is he still carrying a knock that is being kept quiet ?
Completely agree that this is a viable alternative, particularly against big teams if Wenger finally accepts we need to play on the counter against them.
I was at the Allianz a few years ago for a Bayern-Koln game which finished 0-0 in large part because Bayern was terrified of Podolski, who was the only Cologne player not parking the bus.
Cazorla plays better on the left anyway.
That’s why this great club pays out loads of money to some guys called ‘scouts’ I hope we are not supporting the boys scouts with the money allocated for paying “scouts”
I have an idea! Let’s do a search for proved goalscorers by looking at other leagues and finishers of winning goals last weekend: Oh, I found one! He’s a 24-year old international, having played at a La Liga top four club last year, and he scored the winning goal on Friday. 15 league goals last season. His name? Carlos Vela, hounded out by the Emirates unfaithful. Another one! A Ligue one winger and striker, experienced, scored the winning goal on Saturday for his team, for whom he struck 18 times last season. His name? Jérémie Aliadière, ridiculed by the English… Read more »
Liverpools fans!!!! Really???
What is wrong with us as fans? It’s not like we are asking for something preposterous like a free season ticket for life ffs all we want is a team that will challenge.
Liverpool fans seem more loyal to the club then Le Grove people do. They don’t “kill” players of their team like we’ve seen can happen at Arsenal.
This is just an observation that I’m happy to be proved wrong about.
A week ago, everything seemed ok. We’d beaten the oil guys, serious attempts at transfers had been made even public. Then we lose a game in strange circumstances, players started dropping like flies, and all h*ll breaks loose.
Although things look now more difficult, I refuse to panic.
Jesus, you really think Arsenal fans are the only fans who get testy? Liverpool fans treated Hodgson pretty badly, Villa fans (who were lecturing us on Saturday about supporting a team) slaughtered David O’Leary and McLeish, Chelsea fans booed Benitez before he’d even started, Newcastle fans hounded Fat Sam out after a few months, Norwich fans were ripping into Bryan Gunn after they lost to Colchester, Blackburn fans-everyone know about the trouble they’ve had-the list is endless. I’m sure the armchair supporters of Manchester United will be the first to go mental if things don’t work out with Moyes. Supporting… Read more »
Finnish Hit Liverpool fans don’t kill players they just burn effigies of them when they think about joining chelski.
Absolutely ridiculous comment. I disagree with everything you said.
Even wishing for us/the team to have Tony Adams’ heart? 😉
Defenses in League 1 and La Liga aren’t as good as the Prem. I actually watched a decent number of Lorient matches last year and have a soft spot for Aliadiere, but he wouldn’t be as prolific if he came back to England. Can’t say anything definitive about Vela as I didn’t see him much last season (the only player I made a point to watch in La Liga last year was Isco, who I coveted for Arsenal, and is going to be a star at Madrid—set up the winner yesterday)… where was I? Oh, Vela may have improved and… Read more »
Scored the winner but just nit picking.
Shit, you’re right. I mean, it’s not “shit” that you’re right. The “shit” is the “oops” on my part.
No matter who we buy they wont be as handsome as giroud. Fact.
And that must have been the benchmark for new strikers pfft!… no wonder Suarez, rooney fell through.
We need to respect the guy. He could have gone like ” I know I can do everything by myself and the manager believes in me”and other bullshit. But no! He understands the situation and is very realistic about it as well. And yes I have a strong feeling he will do much better this year.
We believe in you HFB
Fantastic our striker thinks we need a striker. Good on him at least we know he’s not scared of competition and is a fighter
Play walcott like striker in upfront?
after all the fuss last season, you would have thought that was an option.
Clearly Giroud ( or Wenger ) doesn’t think so, though, and I don’t hear Theo clamouring for the responsibility, either !
play theo and either of Giroud or sanogo upfront, switch to 4-3-1-2 get in a real good winger: [willian] and get toby alderweid in then finish it off with MESUT OZIL who’s available for £35m
…and a keeper, a centre back, a defensive midfielder, and a winger.
Please.
Perhaps two defensive midfielders? One to cover for the other, as we do not own one yet. Would free Arteta up to play his more natural game. I would add a full back to that as well! Currently no fit left back and someone who could happily play on either side would be nice. Lichsteiner maybe? I don’t know. But, that wouldn’t be my job to find them!
I’m available. I’m Very unsettled at the moment.
I actually feel worse that the summer Cesc left. I thought that August (no need for detail) was as low as it got.
With the Suarez deal dead in the water, by the way things are going, we might probably need to sign Chuck Norris and place him right up front!
thank you for providing me with a laugh at this difficult time
Boy is Van Judas having the time of his life with the mancs. Scoring left, right and centre like his arsehole depends on it. I bet moyes threatens him with a rooney threeway before each game if he doesnt score. With regards to the topic, we the fans fully agree OG. The boys upstairs, we doubt they do. They’re more interested in $ £ €..
Regarding that 3 way, hopefully soon then he’ll getting scored on left, right and centre. 😉
well said mr..
I don’t even think the players have faith in this squad being able to compete. At least the players are being realistic and actually want to be ambitious and win things, shame they’ve got say things like this to encourage the club to be ambitious and actually compete..
But first we need to buy a new Chief Executive. Apart from promising stuff he spectacularly doesn’t deliver on, I’m not sure I know what else he’s done for us.
And just where is Dick Law? Working 24 hours a day, seven days a week seems to have made him invisible.
Can’t we just buy a referee ? That’s got to work out cheaper in the long run . . . I mean Howard Webb might be looking for a new club this season !!!!
( please use ‘ sarcasm/ironic ‘ font when reading this. I do not condone match fixing )
Do the press ever ask aw follow up questions like when he asks them to name players? How the likes of santos and park are top top quality?
There is so much wrong at our club is frightening
Absolutely spot on. Does Wenger not realise how stupid he sounds when he says there’s nobody available that would improve our squad? Yet he goes and buys players who end up hardly ever kicking a ball for us. It just makes him look clueless. If he can’t find players who will improve the team then he either thinks we have the best players in the world or he just isn’t looking hard enough.
And we’re even more fucked now. Many of the players that could really have helped us have already been taken off the market (or chose other clubs over us). So we’re looking at 2nd-tier players that will add some depth and fill a need but aren’t the kind of players that will make us better and help us push our way up the table. Worse, now that we’ve had our usual bevy of injuries—and what the fuck is going on at the club that we have the most-injured squad every single fucking season—we are going to get held up for… Read more »
why do we always have injuries? maybe our players don’t train as physically (clichy said as much when he left), maybe we overplay our small-statured midfielders, maybe an evil gremlin is living in the treatment room putting voodoo jinxes on anyone he encounters, maybe Bergkamp is inflicting one of the plagues on us (firstborn son = cesc, plauge of locusts = trophy draught), maybe we are just terribly terribly unlucky.
take your pick from the above, which sounds most likely???
Anyone have ideas who partners Per next weekend?
Sanogo. Or Bould.
Sol Campbell.
It’s ok we can use Walcott at CB, he played there once for the under 10s.
If Sagna’s not back for next weekend, then I think this is all we can do….
– Ramsey – Frimpong – Mertesacker – Jenkinson –
No wait, Ramsey could be out as well. Oh FFS…
– Walcott?? – Frimpong – Mertesacker – Jenkinson –
Looks like the rejects of a boy band. Am I missing someone? that surely can’t be it.
Bendtner is playing CB
Bendtner. With a head as big as his, nothing will get past him in the air.
I’m afraid that the more I look at this club, the more broken it seems. Look at what Sp*rs have done this summer compared to us. It’s shameful.
We need a fresh start. New manager, new board and a new ambition.
I am sadly really impressed by Spurs. They are light years ahead of us at the moment and I see now way in hell that we can keep them out of the top 4 this year.
Unless we really sign 3-4 players in the next weeks, then end of season will be a top 5 of: Man C, Man U, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool. That obviously leaves us somewhere between 6 and 10 IMO…
So sad that it has come to this. Such potential two months ago – now this…
@Gunning From Denmark
My mate watched Sp*rs play on TV this weekend. He said that they looked very strong and will be a tough team to beat this year.
We were 1 point apart at the end of last season. We’ve sold loads of players and bought one player. Sp*rs have bought players and kept Bale (so far). I’m not sure we’ll finish above this season. Their manager is forward thinking.
Not sure they were ‘strong’ so much as Crystal Palace were abject, particularly in the first half (better in the second once they went down a goal though). Tough to tell much from that game. But to Gunning from Denmark’s point, Sp*rs have done excellent business this window (and if they do buy Willian, who was awesome at Shaktar, that’s a pretty clear sign Bale is gone) and put us to shame in terms of identifying their targets, paying what it takes to sign then, and getting the deal done. They are in a better position than the last day… Read more »

Exactly!, EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! JACKSON-FECKIN-MARTINEZ, good lord this man is exactly what we need, strong, fast, talented and has a €40m release clause, could be tied up either way in a few days, what the hell is going on!!!
A top striker, which should have been our top priority at the beginning of the summer is now the least of our worries. We need to buy at least three defenders and a defensive mid to even have a proper team. Sad that its now down to this level of misery.
i think it is time for wenger to pack and go, we have had enough of his mediocre philosophy.
Arsene appears to have both lost touch, AND lost his touch.
He seems genuinely at sea this tranfer window. 40 million + 1 for Suarez? What the fuck is he thinking? Suarez is no more an Arsenal player than Wayne Rooney will ever be (and yes, Mr Potatohead’s on Arsene’s ‘radar’ too). What the fuck is going on?
It’s like he takes his cue from the “transfer rumour” bollocks on the internet.
Meantime, lesser, non CL clubs seem to be managing just fine. Its a fucking nightmare.
He seems genuinely at sea this tranfer window. 40 million + 1 for Suarez? What the fuck is he thinking”
More like, what the F… is he smoking!
Who is going to help us save wenger from himself? Someone pls wake him up from his utopian delusions!
We need a striker, world class GK and CB, and a DM. We needed this before the wave of injuries.
Back to the article, it’s great that Giroud recognises where he needs to improve, but he needs to show that now on the pitch. He had a good goal against Villa, but every time he got his head to the ball it’s like he wasn’t sure where he should place it.
Damn right we do. Good to hear that the players keep speaking out, but I am scared that this makes AW even more stubborn and that it moves us further from making the signings needed. At this point I honestly don’t believe that we’ll sign anyone significant. Even if the Villa defeat showed AW what the rest of the world has know for months, I just cannot see who we are going to sign? Higuain and Gustavo were just sooo f’ing perfect to fit into our team and what we needed, and we messed it up. Ashley Williams would have… Read more »

A couple of players who are better than what we currently have. I really feel Arsene Wenger’s time at the club is up He has continuously shown arrogance and lacks respect for the fans. we ship out 17players yes they may be dead wood but why on earth are we supposed to compete with such a thin squad. what is worrying is that by the look of things the club is not close to signing anyone and when there are players like Williams and Contrao who are available for sale nothing is coming out of the club in regards to even trying to buy those players. Wenger Out, Mark Hughes in, yeh?
Arrogance? I love it when people wheel out this old chestnut. Honestly, he has to be the least arrogant manager in Premier League history. Criticise his silence on why this mess is happening, criticise his tactics, etc. but don’t even try to level that at Wenger. Arrogance? Look at Mourinho’s manager for a lack of class.
I think he means the aggorance from the point of view that Wenger know what’s good for Arsenal and won’t be told otherwise.
Dont tell us.tell that tight cunt wenger.
I’m truly sickened at what’s going on at the Emirates. Anything Arsene does now is just gonna look like desperation. Where’s ur pride man!!!
To all those who say try and stay positive, I have tried for 8 years, now I am not going to be positive. I am going to be a doom mongering misery guts! Reading Arseblog in the mornings used to be a pleasure, and he’d always make me feel like maybe I was just a pessimist. Worst thing in the world is he now agrees with me, and that makes me very sad. Even if we sign players, it is bound to be too little, too late.
He brings the quality and the quality does not qualify in the first team and wenger insists about quality.what and who is the so called wenger decieving? He should tell us the truth. To me if for sure he is a professional coach and he feels the same like the fans and for goodness shake he should honorably resign. wenger should not dictate like these African presidents. He has failed and let him go and rest.Arsenal is bigger than wenger. The players talk but he doesn’t like to follow what the players want. The fans talk he is adamant. what mess in… Read more »
Shut up you fool. How many leaders in Africa are actually dictators? You’re worse off than AW.
Nice to see Giroud is not afraid of been “killed”.
Sol Campbell used to play up-front right?
*Hysterical Sobbing*
See Wenger, it’s not going to “kill him” it will strengthen the squad.
This weekend was the first time I have ever looked at across North London with envious eyes, when looking at their squad.
They have:
A wide range of options in midfield
A proper keeper (we haven’t had that since Mad Jens left)
Options up front
Spurs still have a poor squad, no no.10, a total of 3 real wingers and pretty poor full backs i might add they also only really have one good striker, thngs are really not that good for them, if we were to sign the nescecary players before the window closes our squad would still be comfortably better.
Hi guys (and gals 🙂 )
It’s been a while since I wrote a new song to be sung on the terraces, but I’ve got a new one for ya 🙂
Here goes.. 🙂
“F-OFF-Kroenke, when the crowd says BO! SELECTA!”
What do you think? We should sing it at Fenerbache I think!
Joe 🙂
You are not funny anymore.
I’ll be singing it lol
It’s not over yet. We might still be able to get Lars Bender, Ashley Williams and maybe even Julio Cesar. But time is running out and you can’t help but wonder what the hell have the club been playing at! It’s like they think “Let’s see if we can see ourselves approx £1-3m on each player” and forget about what it means for the actual football team and trying to start the season in a position of strength!
You problem is Wenger asked Ferguson who he would buy and Ferguson told him Robin Van Persie
Cesar is shit, pay the extra money & get the league’s best Goalie, Asmir Begovic
It is a totally avoidable crisis we’ve found ourselves in… A golden opportunity to have a head start on the other teams spurned due to poor planning.. We are told it is hard to recruit because Chelsea and Manu have not….well those teams are better than ours and are capable of winning things if things go well for them…we have no chance of winning the EPL or CL…and in all likelihood will not win any of the cup competition if we meet any of the top6 teams along the way.. The problem is the other teams have spent and even… Read more »
I have said it time and time again, the best way to get the board and wenger to change their ways is to make sure they have less than half empty stadiums for the matches. Then they will really understand how the fans feel and how much all these hurt. I’m sure they dont bother to read what is being said on the internet and they permanently tune their TV’s to Arsenal TV. I’m in Nigeria, and I deliberately did not pay for cable TV to watch any Arsenal horror. Thank God I didnt even bother to watch the Villa… Read more »
Such lazy commenting. Ok Mr. Revolutionary, better start a website then, send out bulk emails after securing a huge mailing list, put posters up around town … you weren’t thinking you could engineer this massive change by dropping a sentences on an arseblog comment section were you?
Henry, What do you think is the best course of action here, since you present yourself as a know-it-all guy. What do you think will work, criticizing other people’s suggestions while you don’t provide any solutions? I for one stopped buying Arsenal’s merchandise and as soon as the slow learners like you get to know that the board is only interested in making money, then there will be a chance for change.
You lost me at Mertesacker.
Sorry mate Mertesacker is a german tank that takes 10mins to turn…he dithers too much and he is painfully slow… almost always get beat when isoloated…and his indecision puts uneccessary pressure on the defence.. Koscielny had a poor game on saturday…but he is decisive he gets the odd move wrong but at least he decides.. Mertesacker is like Wenger they never make a decison till its too late.. Yes he reads the game well…but he is NOT GOOD ENOUGH as a 1st choice defender for this esteemed club…the faster and skillfull EPL and european strikers will have him for lunch… Read more »
Tell that to Die Mannschaft. Doesn’t Löw start him a good bit there? But, what would you know about that?
Ahem!! In Arsene we rust.
We need somebody like Daniel Levy at this club (N.B “someone like”, Levy is a cunt) who has the same ability and authority as he does at sp*rs. Firstly, because it would mean there’s somebody who can fire the manager, but who would actually have a clue what they were doing re-hiring somebody else (I think Kroenke, Gazidis ect would be much more openly critical of wenger if they knew they could bring in somebody to do better ala replacing ‘arry with villas-boas) and secondly because he always gets the best value for his players. If Levy could get £30m… Read more »
I can’t argue with a single point you have made.
From top to bottom the club needs a complete shake up.
Agreed. Painful as it is to admit, Levy has almost always played hardball with their wantaway stars, won’t be held to ransom, won’t be shorted on the transfer fees.. On top of that, they did good business over the summer – quickly, efficiently, discreetly. We are the polar opposite. Can someone tell me how the fuck I’m sitting here complimenting those scumbags down the road and scared for our future when we’re sitting on the kind of cash reserves we haven’t seen since we last won silverware?? I know this’ll earn me a few thumbs down, but can any of… Read more »
The flip-side of Wenger not knowing the value of players he wants to buy is that he also sells our best players far too cheaply – Viera, Henry, RVP, even Cesc went for so little money it’s depressing.
Oh! wenger oh! Wenger a complete idle manager that pretends to be busy.
[…] Giroud thinks we need a striker […]
“on the other it’s very worrying that squad morale could be seriously damaged by inaction.”
I couldn’t care less about squad morale being damaged if we don’t sign anyone. We are categorically fucked if we don’t sign anyone however happy the players feel.
