Wenger hails clinical Gunners

A very happy Arsene Wenger praised his side’s clinical finishing after a patient display produced a well deserved 2-1 win away at Swansea and sent Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League.

Second half strikes by Serge Grrrnabry and Welsh Jesus did the damage as the Gunners gradually wore down their opponents after a turgid first 45 minutes.

Speaking after the game, the boss couldn’t hide how delighted he was by the result:

“There is nothing better than winning,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports.

“The first half was quite difficult, we were slow in our combinations and Swansea were sharper than us.

“It was a question of being patient without making mistakes. After we were much stronger and playing at our level.

“We took advantage of the chances we have created. We have substance in the team and we could see that today in the second half. We came out with purpose in our game and that was important.”

Reflecting on whether his side can maintain their form and mount their first serious title challenge fir five years, Wenger underlined that it’s early days but that there is plenty of reason for optimism in N5.

“It is early in the season but we had an opportunity today.

“The sign of quality in a team is that when you have an opportunity you take it. Today we took it.

“Our spirit has been tested after the first home game of the season but the way we have responded is very positive.

“In this job, it is very important that you keep focused and you have a purpose and desire to improve. Let’s focus on that.”

Marty

Happy anniversary Arsene! Long may your reign continue!

Are you Albanian trimi?

trimi

I’m an Albanian Kosovar who lives in London. Why do you ask?

deano

A team full of fighters working really hard for each other. Man it’s great to see!

rossi88

I cant wait till we have our injured party back so the commentators always point to depth of our squad. I think we only a top striker and at most a winger away from a perfectly balanced squad. We have the most harmonious squad it looks in EPL and great characters. Why cant we dream, as early as it is into the season??

Aamir

8 points ahead of Manure already.

neutral

how’s does the little boy inside feel about that?

Arsene McCloud of the clan McCloud

He’s calling the social workers now,

notamerican

The chosen one? can’t even choose a proper 1st 11….

[which is ofcourse to my absolute joy!]

Lrjones

For the first time in ages I see an Arsenal team with strong belief that we can win every game. No fear in this side and an urgent desire to impress.

A cùnt for £100m? What a waste of money

We are winning the League! asap!

It’s ok if they take their time in winning the league. By May would be just fine!

masterofthegoonaverse

April would mean no heart attacks

Fatfatbuddha

Hopefully Arsenal don’t run out of steam anytime soon, would be great to see them lift a trophy this season

Zelalem#58

I do agree!

Arsenal-induced Heart Attack Survivor

They won’t. This IS the team that would’ve played in crisis conditions. Half of our first team is yet to come back, remember? If anything, we’ll have a fully gelled team by christmas, when the league is decided (due to fixture piling and who gets through least scathed, that is)

Michael

In arsene we trust. What a change from pre season COYG

Rad Carrot

Long road to go, and harder games too, but still good, positive start to the season.

Don’t remember a time when we were 8 points clear of the champions, too.

Thomas

“There is nothing better than winning”… Especially when Manchester x 2, Chelsea and Sp*rs fails epically.

Arteta's perfect hair

What a transformation since the start of the season!

Walking around with a smile on my face for a very long time!

There is a steel and determination in this team that I haven’t seen for a few years …

COYFG!!!!!!

goonerpaulie

Well played lads but we are top despite the mad professor, not because of him. Wenger out!

anubrto

There is no ‘we’. Just you. And you are a cunt.

Bro

Are you the brother of sir balls ??

All the greek fascist “Golden Shower” died today. Does that make up the deficit in celebrity deaths with then some to spare??

weedwacker

Players stepping up all over the pitch. Lovin it.

Özillation

Ich bin überglücklich

notamerican

And the not-so clinical ones like giroud deserve a pat on the back too for their tremendous defensive work….

Goon

Good performance; defensively improving all the time. Would have been better if Ozil scored with his chance, it was a tough angle though. COYG!

goonerpaulie

Now now anubrto no need to get personal or I won’t let your mum clean my house anymore, xx

Anon

I hope Arseblog News gets around to disposing posts of low discussion quality and obvious baiting like this one.

Gooner5151

I have a happy glow, I don’t even mind watching Xfactor tonight. Up the arsenal

Anton

Ok, I’m settled now. I’m not gonna go on and cry “Wenger out” just cause I can’t understand what he’s doing. I’m gonna trust the man no matter what.

HBK

Arsenal top of the table with a half strength team!

Goonerestgooner

Not gonna get to carried away so early in the season but….
WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE, SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!
WE SHALL NOT, WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED!!
WE’RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE, WE’RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE,
AND NOW YOU’RE GONNA BELIEVE US, AND NOW YOU’RE GONNA BELIEVE US, AND NOW YOU’RE GONNA BELIEVE UUUUUUSSSSS, WE’RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE!!!

Ok, so maybe I am getting a little bit the carried away

masterofthegoonaverse

But why not? I think we all prefer happy Gooners to the alternative! Just do it here rather than on the national forums.

heihaci

I hope Ramsey keeps his form up for the rest of the season and gets player of the year.

GoonerFan1

It will be an abomination if both Ramsey and Wenger don’t win the player of the month and manager of the month respectively

Helas

Key players missing, not at our best, and at the top of the table. Good early signs.

Clock End Mike

There are undoubtedly some very good players in this Arsenal side. But more than anything, I believe, this is a great TEAM.

Despite what commentators say, there isn’t really any weak point (except maybe in depth, and I doubt even that after watching the gritty performance in midweek). They enjoy playing for each other, they know they can depend on each other, they’re working hard and having fun, and they’re up for the challange.

I’m loving this! COME ON YOU REDS!

Clock End Mike

*challenge*

AP

The real test will come against teams who can pass at a quick tempo and pass accurately, and play with width….man-u will stretch us if they dont have a nervous breakdown by then….even napoli game will show how this deep defense copes against quality attacking sides…right now we are leaking unnecessary goals against sides who have just 2-3 moments of quality in a match…

Arsene McCloud of the clan McCloud

AP
A team who can pass with a quick tempo, accurately and with width.
Errr, That is what Swansea did.

Anon

Maybe he didn’t watch the first half yesterday.

Mohammad Arif

“The real test will come against teams who can pass at a quick tempo”

Then Our players will also show how fast and accurate we can pass…it wud definitely be welcomed if opponents play so bcoz it gives us greater space to work with when we hav the ball…

COYG!!!!!!!! Our Time Is Now!!!!!!!! Insha Allah:):)

Gooner til the end

This team is made of tough stuff. Great day all around

Oleg Luzhny

Best part is Cazorla is to come back. And Walcott. And Podolski. Oh and Ox too.

They are exhibiting depth…no other team in the league has that many attackers to return, truly giddy.

Onto beating Napoli!

Ilari

Never forget Rosicky!

Griffin Gooner

COYG

Steve

Oh yeah I’m loving it, loving the league table right now and with so many players out injured too – imagine when pod comes back lol Mr clinical

dantani

good goals and great win, loving the team spirit. however early days yet we have only played six games and surely tougher ones to come. i cant help but wonder if am the only one that wished we kept a clean sheet.

Clock End Mike

You’re not…

Mayor of the Woolwich

And then the lil’ mozart, and, and, Diaby…the man of steel.

We’re onto great stuffs this season mehn…

Mondaylee

In life always ‘Gnab’ your chances. Good work boys. Gone were those days when I watch my Arsenal with pampers on. Now I feel more relaxed watching my adorable team. Long may this form continue.

Santi Cazorlas coming to town

Just watched the ATv arsenal legends DB10 special. It’s amazing! Watch it!
Best thing Dennis says is about the ‘team’, especially in the invincibles year. I really believe that we HAVE A TEAM this year.
Come on Arsenal….good times are coming x

Gnabry's arse

Still waiting for my by the numbers article?

trimi

Tomorrow morning bud

Arsene McCloud of the clan McCloud

Well, thatn went well.

notamerican

We need our wingers back asap. Wilshere is running himself to the ground on the LW. wait if they were to come back? Wilshere would lose his place in the side eh?….. tough luck.

Wouldnt wanna be Arsene!

Arsene McCloud of the clan McCloud

Take a good look at my face, does a smile seem out of place?

No, it fucking doesn’t.

notamerican

I’ve seen so much of this yellow and blue strip doh!….i needs to see the lads in the red and white!

Silent 'No More' Stan

Gone are the days when celebrities die whenever Ramsey scores. Lately, Man Utd dies every time Ramsey scores.

Arsenal gone for good

The tenacity with which the whole team defend has shown that the side has really gotten over their defensive frailities and with LANsey scoring freely who cares where RVP has gone?

MidwestGooner

RVP who? 😉

Vajose

Good stuff from Arsenal. So proud of my team. Ramsey n Gnabry…..top spots.

LOL

thank you for dharing this information
