Aaron Ramsey has thanked Arsene Wenger for his unwavering support during his six years at Arsenal after netting another fine strike at Wembley.
The Welshman netted the winner in the FA Cup final in May and followed up that memorable finish with another top effort in Sunday’s Community Shield as the Gunners ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
Revealing he’s much more comfortable in the final third these days, Ramsey told BT Sport: “I have just become a lot more composed in front of goal, realising I have more time than I did in the past. I am making good contact and being composed.
“Arsene Wenger has been massive for me. He has always believed in me, even through the bad periods, he has always played me and I am grateful to pay him back.
“The boss has given me a role where he knows I will get forward into the box. I am feeling good in my position, I feel I am picking the right chances to get forward.”
Ahead of the first game of the season against Crystal Palace the 23-year-old also confirmed that the Gunners squad are in confident mood, particularly with marquee signing Alexis Sanchez in the ranks.
“The atmosphere in the camp is great. We really want to work hard for each other and the club is on the up.
“Everyone is excited and the arrival of Alexis Sanchez has made everyone excited. After the FA Cup win I really feel this club is on the up and I hope we can go on to be very successful in the coming years.”
“Arsene Wenger has been massive for me. He has always believed in me, even through the bad periods, he has always played me and I am grateful to pay him back.”
This speaks volumes I think.
And makes me feel yay big. Wasn’t a boo boy, but definitely didn’t support him as I could have.
For this I am sorry and beg forgiveness.
I remember watching him when he burst on to the scene when he was playing along side Fabregas, and I couldn’t believe the ability he showed, I was devastated when he was mullard by Shawcross.
It takes real balls and commitment to get back to this level after an injury as horrific as his leg break.
Genuinely couldn’t be happier that he is an Arsenal player.
The best part is, I still think he has more to come.
A bit like Luke Skywalker, before he realised that he truly did have the force.
A few games before the Shawcross assault I remember wondering “why is no one talking about how impressively Ramsey has been progressing this season?” I had the same horrible feeling as I felt for Eduardo when the ogre did what ogres do. But the difference is that by then Eduardo had already convinced Arsenal fans of his talents while I think that Ramsey would be relegated back to being a promising but unproven talent in the minds of Arsenal fans before he had a chance to make a legitimate, noticeable breakthrough. Remember, even at the beginning of last season many… Read more »
Your comment is golden. Brilliant!
It’s almost exactly what Rosicky has recently said and what Diaby has said in the past.
RvP should have taken note of that kind of class.
It’s one of the most impressive features of Wenger’s philosophy – belief.
Difference between a Little Boy and a Man.
I fucking LOVE Rambo!
That attitude. Let’s hope he improves even more and win every single trophies there are for us fans. And Cesc, Nasri and RVP can all weep in tears knowing it could’ve been them instead lifting all those trophies. Those fuckers.
Will be more than happy if he doesn’t improve and stays fit the whole season.
He does have a wife fitted for his looks. Handsome SOB!!
Ladies and Gentleman… Aaron fucking Ramsey
A young Obi Wan Ramsey with the beard.
I don’t think many people would have kept faith in him after a few seasons ago (including myself), it just shows what level Wenger is on. Legend.
Arsenal is so gonna boss all the other teams. Last season, imo it was a lack of confidence that made us lose to the top 4 opposition. This season we have our beasts ready to attack. Ramsey, wilshere, Alexis, not to mention our superb full backs and if the gods of injury will it, our LANS…. Abou Diaby. Such a Good time to be a Gunner
How did Rambo become so fucking good? His skill moves are so effective!
Skills are skills. Knowing when and how to use them are what makes one walk on water.
I’m so glad that I was one of those who stuck up for Ramsey during his bad spell. Never been so happy to be right. Keep it up Rambo, everybody is on your side now!
Easy with the thumbs down Gooners, let’s give him/her the benefit of the doubt
The run he made for his goal was absolutely fucking amazing (see if you can find a highlight clip that shows the entire sequence). He is another level in terms of fitness.
Oooh to be a Gooner! Another thing I’ve picked up on that’s been different in the past sort of 18 months is the general mood- or appearance thereof- in the camp. Gone are the days of selfish, mopey fucks like Gallas, Van Judas and Na$ri filling the ranks, but you read of Sanchez with his hard work, Özil’s humility, likeable blokes like BFG and Santi… methinks that also plays a part, not just the ££££££ in the transfer market.
Agree, and I thought it showed on the pitch yesterday. Despite all the subs Arsenal looked like a team playing for each other, whereas ManC had a lot of players that couldn’t be arsed (most likely because they are sure of being starters) The only ones who tried were the ones who were playing for a place in the squad, i.e. they were playing for themselves rather than the team.
That’s the sort of stuff I firmly believe will make a difference over the course of an entire season.
Just need one defender from somewhere.
Arsenal will win games with their Midfield/Attacking Régime!
With forward thrusts of Giroud, Sanogo, Alexis, Campbell, Walcott (when he returns), Chamberlain!
And the young prospects/talents of Gnabry, Akpom….Arsenal will be title contenders come next season!
NEXT season?! For smeg’s sake, we’re title contenders NOW!
I guess this season will be about scoring a shitload of goals, considering our defense is not exactly
100 % yet.
All hail the welsh jesus!!
I strongly believe we are title contenders with Ramsey, Alexis, Walcott, Ozil and the rest. But I just hope Arsene can turn us to title favourites by simply replacing Vermaelen and signing a specialist DM since chambers will likely be a utility player this season. Just imagine our bench! Scary prospect for the opposition. We are looking very good already; just those two signings I think.
Anyone who doesn’t think we’re genuine trophy contenders on all fronts this season is living in the past. Can we win the Premier League? Of course we can. The new signings have strengthened us, but we also went from league leaders to (just) fourth place last season – the experience of which can only have augmented this team’s resolve. And we saw something of that already in our FA Cup comeback win. The biggest indication of this yesterday wasn’t so much the three goals we scored, but the desire we had to keep a clean sheet. Play anything like that… Read more »
Keown made a decent point last night pointing out that Ramsey is now at a level similar to that of Fabregas in the season before he left. He is rightly receiving plaudits and comparisons with players such as Cesc, Gerrard and Lampard high praise indeed. When I watch him play however I feel that those comparisons are unfair he is better than them
I wish I cud have his babies
Ramsey is better then bale…
Ashamed and embarrassed to admit I was a loud and proud Ramsey hater during his extended convalescence. I too, beg forgiveness and grace.
In other news, Jack Wilshere is fucking useless now at football isn’t he? Why Wenger keeps playing him I don’t know. Jack and Wenger out! Can’t tolerate such uselessness. Needs to be booed off stage.
La defende is just joking comon. Stop downoting him and have some sense humor gooners
