Ramsey: I’m focused and sharp now

Aaron Ramsey has admitted he was trying too hard to make up for his poor form with goals, but says he’s feeling 100% fit again and is determined to dig in and do his job for the team.

He’s been in and out of the team with injury since the beginning of the new campaign and has found it difficult to replicate the performances that drew him so many plaudits last season.

However, he says he’s feeling sharp and ready to make a contribution again. Asked at today’s pre-Dortmund press conference if he had been too focused on goals, he said, “Maybe at the beginning, yes. Now I’ve put that to the back of my mind and I’m focusing on other things. That will come naturally again.

“I still believe in my qualities, and I’m confident that I can show them again this year. There will be plenty more opportunities.

“I had a hamstring injury and it takes a few games to get back to your best. In the last game it was the first time in a long time that I felt sharp again and felt like I was physically there. Hopefully I can continue that and have a very successful season.”

He also touched on the poor start to the season and backed his teammates to turn things around, starting tomorrow evening.

“I think we have a really good unity in the team. Everybody wants to work hard for each other, wants to turn things around and hopefully we can do that with a win against Dortmund.”

Let’s see if he produces against Dortmund. COYG!!

i want klopp now

The thing is, YOU are not who takes charge of making a match possible to win. Wenger is and hes not giving a single fk to whats going on here let alone a tactical change. How absurd he cant anticipate them opponents tactic that they use from anticipating Wengers. Hes been doing the same sht over in every single game and hoping for different results. Nothing is enjoyable to watch nomore.

Previgo

We should line up like this..
– Martinez
– Bellerin
– Chambers
– Per(Bosscielny depending on fitness)
– Gibbs
– Arteta
– Ramsey
– Sanchez
– Ox
– Rosicky(subs campbell 75mins regardless of the result)
– Poldi
(4-2-3-1)
Cede possession a little and try to play on the counter, be absolutely direct and clinical – I see no reason why we wont win.. Anything other than this setup, then i think we might be sad again by the end of the game! Coyg! Wonder if wenger is blind!

Story for the gods

Amusa

Ramsey playing Shite= Season going Shite.
Ramsey good= Season goood.

Previgo

Even if he has a bad game on wednesday i will never get on his back..
That goal against huLL!!

AS17 is for A.Sanchez not A.song

I want to see it. tired of hearing it. period!

hurensohn

It certainly didn’t look like he’s gone back to basics on Saturday. Shooting from the edge of the box rather than slipping Gibbs in behind their back four..

BillyBatts

Enough talk, Rambo. Time for you to turn up this season.

Koscielny's Accordian

If he plays with spirit and puts in solid performances, then he can improve. We don’t need to rely on Ramsey for goals any more

Trex d Gunner

Let your performance and that of your team mates speak for you Rambo and the team. I’m tired of players running their mouth before any of our games and they still end up playing like sh*t and loosing

assistantref

To be fair to him he’s been one of the ones most hurt by Wenger’s bizarre decision to play 4-1-4-1. First because he has suddenly had Wilshere to bump into because they both play the same way and get in eachother’s way. Then also because with Arteta isn’t in the team it leaves the team way more vulnerable to a counterattack. Putting the pressure much more on Ramsey to deliver when he does get forward. Ramsey was great last season but the formation also was built to work for him. Then Wenger changed it up for reasons none of us… Read more »

same sayings,different players
different teams,same results

Let your performance speak for you Rambo. I’m tired of players running their mouth before any of our games and they still end up playing like sh*t, making school boy mistakes and loosing

Trex d Gunner

Oops, sorry for the double post.

NYGUNNER

Why does the current Arsenal team feel compelled to play like Brazil against Germany in the recent semi final – like moths flocking to a newly turned on lamp? We really need to impose strict rules on what positions players can take, a bit of insight from when cesc complained at barca about there being a lot of importance on positional discipline. Its not a new concept and one all attacking teams have employed including our own Invincibles, Double Winners in 1998 etc etc. Would Nigel Winterburn and David Seaman have such an elementary cock up as we did last… Read more »

assistantref

I was with you till the last sentence. If Winterburn got shoved into Seaman by the ur-Fellaini the same thing would have happened. That was more bad reffing than anything else. Gibbs was in the right place, blocking off the ball and giving Scz a chance to collect. And then suddenly he gets shoved a yard forward into him with a blatant push. Not much you can do about that.

The Beast

Put the ball in the net more than the opposition team and we win the game, now Rambo go and tell the rest of your team mates, tell them I told you to do so.

HK1

I’m so fed up of hearing the players talk. They should just keep their traps shut until things improve. Based on his performances this season Ramsey shouldn’t even be in the squad but he’ll be starting against Dortmund. There’s no punishment for poor performances at Arsenal. You can play poorly for months but still be a regular due to our lack of depth.

Cazorla’s been abysmal for 2 years bar the cup final but has been one of the first names on the team sheet till Saturday.

o'gizzle

Your comment actually does wind me up.

Petit's Handbag

Arseblogger no idea how you still can find the effort to do this. Your own positive spin on this Groundhog Season is amazing, not once have you ever lost the head and just said what we all think sometimes. For that I applaud you. But when are we going to see the angry arseblog, calling Nasri a fat headed cunt, Van Persie much worse than a “skunk” and maybe even a “I think Arsene’s time maybe up”. If we come fourth, get knocked out of the champions league in the second round and get knocked out of the FA Cup… Read more »

kafka

fair enough. Do you know he also said that I still attacked in the Man U game, but I was able to get back in position to defend? That does sound like a little bit of self serving bs at the very least doesn’t it? I’m not laying the two goals at his doorstep alone, but fact is that the team lost to two breakaway goals with midfielders overcommitted, of which he is one, so it gives the impression that he is covering for himself but not thinking about the team when he makes this statement. Responsibility has to be… Read more »

Haha

Sorry blogs, but don’t get wound up. For some people football is something from the ancient past: Punishment. Everybody should be punished. Arsenal, Arsene, players, fans…
A down-in the dumps Cazorla in the dressing-room, coz sure as hell he loves losing. And then Arsene comes in and does some punishing. Like ol’ skool. Back in the days, back in da hood. Fuck yeah, those where the days, when everybody got punished at Arsenal. I’m getting too wound up, sorry…

zyrth

I’ll be happy with his performance pre-injury last season minus the goals. That was an effing beast there, running, harrying, tackling, intercepting and the works. I really don’t want to see Ramsey acting all Giroud staying up top anymore.

Trez

Well rambo…your decision making has been very poor lately. Except for that one pass you made to welbeck agaainst manure, you really were underwhelming. Don’t let that 100k a week get to your head, go back to the basics.

Xxxrob

I think Ramsey is missing ozil. Some of their dovetailing early last season was untouchable. Fuck it’s frustrating that we can’t get our best xi on the pitch

Merlin's Panini

We all know what he’s capable of and so does he. He just needs to find his rhythm again and he’ll get there again. He’s had a frustrating season but if there’s one thing we know about Aaron Ramsey it’s that you can’t write him off.

Glasgow Gunner

This is great news but please let it happen before April.

Forfuckssake

Very plausible reason considering how long it takes a pl player to recover from injuries these days. He also referred to his focus had been blurred by last seasons goal scoring exploits. Its just annoying that Rosiky is not being used as Santi, jack and Ramsey have all struggled to find any consistency this season. At the start of the season we was all full of hope with all the options in centre midfield. The noticeable thing this season is without Arteta we are clueless. Time for the others to step up.

Roba Gesora

Thank you for being realistic than your performance has been poor.We are opmistic that you will make us proud.love arsenal.

Rambo's Thai retreat

Giroud, everybody! Chim Chimney!

Arsenalman29

That ridiculous comment shocked me, especially the part about Cazorla. Anyways, my opinion on Ramsey is that he will come good again, i have no anger/frustration against Ramsey. In my opinion the few games he has played bad in this season is simply down to confidence, once he gets it back he will be on a roll again. But Wenger should have given other players a chance to start, knowing that Ransey is not in form. Especially in the bigger games, someone else should have got a start. Sanchez this season is our Ramsey of last season, he can win… Read more »

rajesh

With Alexis and welbeck this season instead of giroud and ozil, he has failed to adapt his game as midfielder..they are making the direct runs and his is not taking it well 🙂 no wonder he lost his focus. But again real question is why the f*** wenger didn’t buy players in defence. Something I am yet to overcome.. And I don’t have any hope for january..

Bhushan

Oh my goodness! All this time I really believed that Debuchy and Chambers were defenders!

ThaatArsenalGuy

I found a spider in my bed .
Wenger out

moneyball

Well Aaron Ramsey was great for us last season and he saved Wenger(s) ass in a lot of matches. One of the reasons why we managed to get so many points last season. And the ‘Özil’ effect.

I just genuinely think that Wenger needs to go, and Ramsey’s dipping form is a creation of Arsene Wenger, due to comments like “He should finish less”… Let’s remove all the key-aspects of our players. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’d start playing Alexis Sanchez as Defensive midfielder soon.

Possession

What a load of bollocks Mr Ball….

Previgo

Bellerin has to start, chambers should replace monreal, per should be dropped if bossielny is fit to play, rosicky should be the one to replace jack and poldi should replace welbz in the starting lineup

Shot_gunner

Again wenger outer space, criticism of wenger for Ramsey’s performances. Yet most of you would have gotten rid of Rambo before last season.

IAM ARSENAL

Lol he thinks he is looking sharp..Looked like the same ol shite against Man u. Really need him to recapture his form from last season.

Mach III

Have some good performances please Ramsey! So we can swap you, Wilshere, Cazorla, and 40 million for Fabregas!
