Arsene Wenger says he’s hoping his side can rediscover their goalscoring touch by upping their tempo against West Bromwich Albion in the final Premier League game of the season.
The Gunners haven’t scored at home since Olivier Giroud’s last minute effort in the 4-1 win over Liverpool at the start of April; a run of three games that has included draws against Chelsea and Sunderland and the defeat to Swansea.
Eager for his players to send the Emirates crowd to Wembley on a high the boss called for more focus on Sunday:
“It’s difficult to analyse really. We didn’t score against Chelsea, Swansea City and Sunderland but it’s unusual for us. If you look at the games, we had the chances to score in every single game.
“What we want to do is to continue to play our game but better, quicker, with more movement and then we will score again. The finishing is in cycles and we have gone through a cycle that is a bit less positive.
“Before, we scored goals for fun and I’m sure if we just concentrate on the quality of our game that we will score again.”
Arsenal don’t have to win to secure qualification for the Champions League, but nor can they take the risk of losing in case Manchester United demolish relegation-threated Hull City. As things stand the Gunners have a goal difference that’s seven better than Louis van Gaal’s outfit.
Warning his side that they have a job to finish, Wenger continued: “We want to finish on a high at the Emirates and we want our fans to go home happy, full of hope for next season.
“We have fought very hard to directly qualify for the Champions League and we want to get over the line and finish the job, which we couldn’t do on Wednesday night [against Sunderland]. We want to do it in a convincing way on Sunday.
“Will I rest one or two players? Certainly. What is most important for me is for us to win the game on Sunday. We have enough experience in our dressing room to know that what is important is the next competition.”
Arseblog News also wants a happy ending. Two in fact. One on Sunday and another next Saturday. Surely that’s not too much to ask…
Someone’s loving the dirty puns today. Even more so than usual I mean.
I wonder whether the Arseblog news headlines might be written by the makers of the Carry On films today?
Talk of packages and happy endings – ooh, matron!
Two happy endings for all the fans is going to be really expensive. Tempting as that is, I think we have higher priorities.
Let’s wrap things in style & build the momentum for the FA cup final.

If Vidal comes will there be also be a happy ending for Coq?
If you mean the pornstar Nacho, then we’re sorted for the near future having him alongside our Coq, they will give us happy endings like fucking Oprah.
Advanced apologies.
You’re a tough crowd!
Vidal isn’t coming, but pogba is!
I really hope not. Because if Pogba is coming to London, sadly it isn’t likely to be to join us. 🙁
Wenger: I want a happy ending for all our players’ problem packages
Wenger is basically saying packageless Liverpool are at fault. Remember wen we made a bid for Suarez, who revealed d exact amount dat ws bid? Liverpool.
Aidy Ward did nt becum an agent dis year and he hs never been notorious for public sagas. On the other hand, Liverpool are.
I can’t really believe the last time we scored at home was against Liverpool
I won’t be unhappy if we Beat WBA by 6 goals. That should be a happy ending for the league at least.
#happyending #haha #redarmy #FACUP #champions #goodluck #aha #COYG
The players looked utterly devoid of ideas. No sharpness in movement, no will to spread the game wide. Sunderland parked 2 buses because they had to survive. Anyway now we have won the 3rd place trophy. Getting the FA cup will be success. COYG!
Yes but, one (chavs style) deflection or their GK palms it a foot to the left, and we’ve scored one/two/+, so the whole attitude to scoring changes. The players tried but didn’t have much (if any) luck and the ref didn’t help. They had a few ‘on the break’ professional fouls which weren’t ‘carded’ etc.
It doesn’t mean that we played well or were sharp, but we’ve won games were we played worse……………
Is it just me, or is anyone thinking WBA putting three past Chelsea and they could do the same to us and Manure could beat Hull five nil!
Am I just worrying too much?
I can’t get a cup final ticket for love nor money…. What are the chances of getting one outside the ground? Thinking of flying over from Dublin without a ticket on the off chance I get one…
Go to the Emirates an watch it on the telly !
You could get one for “money” mate, just depends on how much you want to spend!
Isn’t it funny that as soon as Wilshere is back we start playing poorly again?
Just got back from Thailand so I’m ok Arsene.
Thanks for the offer though.
