New boy Petr Cech will wear the number 33 shirt as he starts his career as Arsenal’s first choice keeper.
The number 1 shirt will be retained by Wojciech Szczesny while David Ospina holds on to 13 pending a decision on his future.
The Czech international completed his £11 million move from Chelsea this last month, penning a three-year contract that will keep him at the Emirates past his 36th birthday.
On his Twitter account this evening he revealed his new number ahead of his first Arsenal appearance in Singapore next month.

I’d like to think cech knowing the situation last season with david and woijeich, and sharing the (golden glove with him the season before) turned down the chance to take the no.1 shirt to allow him to keep it for his mental strength and growth as a keeper.

So we have one world class keeper and two solid ones in the wings, Arsene Wenger is writing classy letters to fans and Alexis Sanchez is taking a good rest, and even though we haven’t been really active in the market, I just feel so good to be a gooner this summer, can’t wait for 2015/16.
