Bellerin: it would have been easier to be destroyed

Hector Bellerin says that being taken off at half-time against Stoke last season was a good thing for him overall.

With Arsenal 3-0 down at the break at the Brittania, the Spaniard was sacrificed for Danny Welbeck as Arsene Wenger tried to get his team back into the game (and almost did but for a harsh red card for Calum Chambers).

It’s a demoralising thing to be taken off at half-time, but Bellerin was determined not to let it affect his burgeoning Arsenal career.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, he said, ““I think the biggest thing was probably after being defeated by Stoke away and being substituted after 45 minutes, it would have been easier to be destroyed by the situation.

“For me it was just something where the boss thought it was a better option to have another player in my position, I didn’t need to worry about it but just keep training hard and then show him in the next game that I can do better than how I did.

“That’s what I learnt about myself – that I could deal with those situations and I think that’s important if you want to be a professional footballer.”

And he paid credit to the senior players in the squad who helped him through a fantastic debut campaign.

“I don’t think I could have been in a better group to have my breakthrough season,” he said.

“I had experienced players that helped me in every situation.”

Bellerin is expected to return to the starting line-up today against Leicester, having been on the end of a glowing report from Mikel Arteta.

Fabulous

Any chance the referee in that Stoke game being Mike fucking Dean? That aside glad Bellerin is our RB now, solid defensively and explosive going forward. Hope he has his head straight if Barca comes sniffing.

Mike Dean update – https://www.change.org/p/the-football-association-the-fa-prevent-mike-dean-from-refereeing-another-arsenal-game has over 100,000 signatories! Well done to all.

Let’s hope this gets delivered to the FA asap (as well as mentioned to the press so they can publicise it) – getting 100,000 signatures in a week is impressive. Otherwise there is a danger it all gets forgotten. Anyone know Jamie Cassar from Waltham Abbey, the bloke that started it, to get him delivering the petition to the FA? Or anyone know how to get this to the FA and public’s attention?

Dude, it was touched on by espn already like 2 days ago, it is known that arsenal fans have spoken out on their utter distrust of mike dean. I will stop here before i insult mike dean.

Paul

Can we leave the Mike Dean thing now please?

JC

No

Paul

We’ve all had a bad day at work..Jeezus!

Persuade me that his bad decisions even out over time, with some evidence.

Pedant

Mike Dean has had multiple bad days at the Arsenal office. Too many to turn a blind eye to.

Our Hector has developed so well. He’s an inspiration to the other young players.

Man Manny

Thanks to the manager too: he has created an environment suitable for young talents to blossom.

I have a sneaky feeling we will click against Leicester today! COYG!

Social Pariah

Thumb down if you will, but I believe Alex Oxide-Chamberlain will be in his element today!

I don’t think his place is under threat from Debuchy, I’ve never been that impressed with him and thought he was shocking the other night. I know he has been out but sorry I expect more than that. Also thought Ramsey was his usual just about average self other that a 5 min spell in second half where he played 3 good pass’s. It’s amazing how many keep going back two years and saying he will get back there. I was at many of the game two years ago and in fairness he had a few exceptional games though most… Read more »

Agree about debuchy entirely. Ramsey you’re so wrong. I was at many of those games too and some of his link up play, movement and even distribution was out of this world. He was a guy flying on confidence, understandably, but he was involved in basically everything for that five month period at the beginning of 13/14. Beginning of last season when he was still getting goals he was poor, but not 13/14.

Djangoon Unchained

Got mad love for our Hector.

Paul

Nothing mad about that imo. 🙂

Does anyone know the update on Coq? I’ve not seen anything about it in the way of an update.
