Walcott scores 2, Ox assists

It’s been a quiet day, but so it goes during Interlulls.

Nevertheless, here’s some Arsenal related action for you from England’s win over San Marino:

You don’t need any comment from us. Which is good coz we’re a bit drunk.

I could get used to this new style of reporting.

Gareth Murray (@garethcmurray)

Both of Theo’s goals coming from an old inside right position. Should have helped himself to a hat trick and certainly looked far more threatening for England than Wayne Rooney did.

Proff Gooner

I’m confident this season he’ll contribute an aggregate of 15 goals and assists, especially because of the improved movement and awareness.

Hopefully he’ll do us proud and help us forget we didn’t sign a Striker during the summer window.

Forever COYG!!!

Ferngunner

I like walcotts timely reminder to haters and admirers alike of his goal scoring ability.

‘Up yours’ is most likely the message.

#

Fabulous

He certainly contributes a lot more (in both assists and scoring) playing there than at centre forward. Be it for England or for us. Which gets me wondering why in hell he wants to play centrally.

Bould's Eyeliner

Probably because someone told him, you can be the next Henry for Arsenal. Or he read it somewhere on a blog.

Woolwich Peripatetic

The same Thierry Henry who played at inside-left, with no one in the box?
Walcott wants free reign to take up whatever position he likes, not necessarily with his back to goal.

Dan

On another note on slow news day our old calm and collected legendary keeper jens Lehman is in trouble with the law for strangling another motorist in a road rage incident. Now who in a million years would have imagined him doing that?

SizC

Legend.

I loved his crazy side!

Swedishgunner

Well Dan, everyone 😉

Last man standing

Who in the world would want to get in the way of mad Jens? Nice goals Theo. Hope he and OG bangs them in for fun this season just so we could enjoy watching Michael Owen’s eggy face!

Patrick anaekwe

Great news for Arsenal fans. This is something to cheer about after the disappointing transfer Window.

Hairy Arse

So to you 12 idiots who thumbed down this comment was it a good transfer window?

Ross

I think you’re missing the point as to why the thumbs down.
Stop winging it’s time to support the lads now.

Ben

I’d be cheering if Theo was scoring goals for Arsenal.

Man Manny

Time to ‘bury the hatchet’ I think. It’s done and dusted. Time to face the season with courage.

DontForget

Great to see Theo, Ox and Own Goal doing their part for England, now let’s see them bang ’em in for Club.

Cliff Bastin

Own Goal has to be the best signing we’ve made since Sylvain Wiltord.

Goone's Farm

Today, both Rooney and Own Goal equalled Charlton’s record of 49 goals, but of course only Rooney gets the attention. I’m telling you guys, our OG is very underrated by the media, he’s actually a very good striker 😉

ThaatArsenalGuy

I like turtles

winterburn 87

Good job boys..hopefully none of our international players come back with injuries. .Oops shut up me!!

PerLaurent

If it happens, it happens!

santori

It may just be San Marino but it shows Walcott can score in flurries. He scored a heapful end of last season against West Brom and then the all crucial opening goal in the cup final. He needs to be deployed properly to take advantage of his best characteristics. He is better on the counter against teams that afford him real estate where Giroud is a better tool against compact opposition sitting deep. We have yet to see if they can effectively play together without compromise to defense which could be a case if we are chasing a goal against… Read more »

something cool

But can he do it on a cold rainy night in stoke?

Arun

You mean ” A cold rainy night in London ” right ?

We are at home, the place of struggle this season…let’s turn it around COYG

winterburn 87

Happy father’s day to every gooners out there

Dan Hunter

San Marino is equivalent to a conference team. Even Sanogo would score against them

Ross

True. Rooney didn’t score from open play, though.

SizC

And the prolific Kane with ZERO prem goals this season scored

Izzymuzzet

Conference teams are pros. This is like a local pub team.

Alex

So we had three arsenal players in England squad and they all got direct input, it’s an easy runaround though, lucky to not get any injuries, the pitch was horrendous…

Olof

For me its simple. Without any new striker options, put Ox as a striker and Walcott on the wing (If not Ramsey there). Ox can offer speed, strength and his quick mind will cause trouble for the defenders.

Getso gunner

Iam not really excited because He scored against San Marino……. Scimore against Stoke next week and then we know you are there

hkr

Good run and cross from the OX, I just don’t understand why Arsenal have completely stopped flooding the box for crosses. So many times it’s just Giroud in the box.

Paul

Congratulations to OG for getting selected for the national team and scoring on his debut! ?

rch

I am sure if you play Theo on the right, Alexis on the left and Giroud up top and they all weigh in with 15 goals we shouldn’t be far away.

the Car2n Goon

Alexis to the left,
Theo to the right,
Here I am,
Stuck in the middle Giroud

Abdifatah

Hope OG comes back not injured after his impressive performance against the mighty San Marino. That’s 3 goals for club and country this season.

Stringer Bell

Only San Marino but good to see ox and theo doing well. Hope one of them starts against stoke. Play wide players wide arsene, please, pretty please.

loose_cannon

Don’t have a problem with Walcott up top but it means changing how we approach our attack. Basically our build up play needs to be a lot quicker so teams can’t settle. It also means pressing teams high up the pitch rather then just waiting for them to lose possession in our half

Goon

I think Arsene should drop Sanchez and play Ox and Theo on the wings for now. I think Sanchez might find it hard as the season progresses and he’ll suffer in the same way Ozil did last season – mentally. Yes, I am still concerned about Sanchez’s fitness.

TruthHurts

Yeah, Theo and Ox on the wings but Sanchez CF. Dont think he needs a rest just needs a starting off goal. He could be our Suarez/Aguero!

norbert

Well done gunners?

Runkebal

Iiiiiiii’m so bo-o-ored with the OG joke…

Runkebal

Should be sung like I’m So Bored With the USA by The Clash.

WhySoGenerous

Sanchez also scored.

WhySoGenerous

I mean over the weekend, in the chile-paraguay win.
