Chile coach admits Alexis played hurt

If you’ve read the headline we have to sadly report we don’t mean that Alexis Sanchez took out his ghettoblaster in the dressing room and hit play on his Johnny Cash cassette.

The groin problem that saw him limp off in the closing stages of the 3-0 stuffing on Man Utd has affected the Arsenal man, but not so much that it stopped Chile’s coach, Jorge Sampaoli, playing him for the full 90 minutes against Brazil a couple of days ago.

“Alexis arrived not at the top of his form,” he said, “with pain in the adductor. He couldn’t play at 100% but we thought that him not playing would give too much advantage to our rivals, because his presence in our team makes things difficult for our opponents.”

Slightly worrying when you look at our fixture schedule and some of the games coming up, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. Chile play Peru on Tuesday, so perhaps we can glean something from the team selection then.

In the meantime we’ll keep fingers crossed that an Interlull that has seen a number of injuries affect rivals doesn’t do the same to us …

Fear that it’s not going to end well for us…

Man Manny

On the other hand, I know it will end well. Alexis will come back and take Watford defence to the cleaners. I remember Arsene saying after the United game that it (the groin) will not stop him from playing. I believe!

Ex-Priest Tobin

If Alexis gets injured our title ambitions are down the drain. None of our other players are even close to his quality. And knowing our luck, he probably will be injured…

Nairobi_gunner_49

oh wow…not good at all. you better not break him Jorge, even though its more likely Alexis asked to be played.

Gutbukket Deffrolla

Surely the Great and Glorious FIFA has some sort of rule to allow a Club to recall their man if his country deliberately play him when he is known to be injured?

Jorge Sampaoli instantly joins the Cunt List.

Goone's Farm

Easy now, I’m sure Alexis was the first one to ask for being played. I’m pretty sure recalling him now would only put us on his cunt list for not letting him represent his country. I know how you feel but you’re being a bit too selfish there.

badaab

I think every professional club should have the right to recall players with an injury risk. After all, the club pays their salary and takes on the burden of rehab when players come back from internationals injured.
Meanwhile, the national teams and the governing bodies just collect checks from tv, sponsor, and ticket sales.

swing

Yes the clubs pay for their salaries but their countries raise them, put them in academies, etc. etc. and when their career is over. most players go back to their countries. Its just not a contest over who does more

Ben

Also, the countries pay compensation if they’re injured on international duty

Ferngunner

Sampaoli to me comes off as an big headed twat it has to be said.

Le Jim

You wanker, Sampaoli. If our sexi lexi comes back injured, you’ll be elevated to the position of “Just 3-degrees-of-cuntishness-less-than-Mourinho’s-obscenely-high,-record-breaking-level-of-cuntishness.”

Yeah, it’s a real scale.

InTheArse

This is so stupid. If they played him against Brazil, for sure they will play him against Child’s arch nemesis Peru.

It is so stupid.

Getso gunner

Hope Wenger will intervene and make sure they will not play him on tuesday

Nasris wallet

Fuck those chillies powder cunts

DreyKanmzs

Its funny how lots of clubs have been plagued by injuries through this interlull and no Arsenal player is affected (yet).
I think it will be a miracle if we are left we no fresh injury news by Wednesday morning.

Le Jim

…aaaand that ladies and gents, is the perfect way to jinx us 😉

Arsestronomy

Don’t understand how this can even be happening.

1. He should go to jail for making an injured man do physical work.
2. There should be a blanket rule covering this in favour of clubs.
3. If he injured himself that can affect future matches, so the coach is an idiot.

gunnersdirector

Easy now!

Sylent Syd

I can’t stand Sampaoli. The fact that he looks like that douche Pitbull doesn’t help…

Hutch

Jorge Sampaoli = José Mourinho = Mike Dean.

Runkeball

Now THAT’s an insult! But I can go one better. Jorge Sampaoli = the entire FA!

rando

the three guys are one big asshole. Sexi lexi should sleep on sickbed till wednesday morn.

O2ba

Ffs

Alex

This is so unprofessional from this coach!! He endangers not only Arsenal, but mostly his player and his form and career!!! This is beyond stupidity!

santori

That’s the problem with the International scene.

They only need Alexis for a short duration. They could care less that the is injured because it is a long while till the next international.

RodGoonerInTtown

Fuck Sanpaoli

Gandalf

Arent these friendlies? What the hell?

Gandalf

Oh they’re WCQ’s, just checked

Bank of friendship

Alexis will be ok.
He runs on duracell

Sanchezy

Hope it’s a quick recovery.

At least Mourinho & Chelski’s misery continues to pile up as Ivanovic & Matic are injured.

Marseille Turn

Ivanovic injured is an advantage to them. He’s played like crap this season

Wade Wilson

I understand he has an obligation to pick his best player, in the interests of Chile (much love to Chile). But did he think of the best interests of the player. I think to play him 90 minutes is poor form.

Stephen Garramone

Well, file a complaint. Alexis works for Arsenal and is on LOAN. He therefore is not to be lost, damaged or stolen which was certainly the case here.

and

…Sampaoli….”now some one, get a hammer …ok champ..hit his nose..cool strike, lad”
