Wenger sceptical about Welbeck

Arsene Wenger has given a further indication that Danny Welbeck could be out for some time after confirming the striker has damaged cartilage in his right knee.

Speaking ahead of the final game of the season against Aston Villa, the boss noted that Welbeck’s chances of heading to EURO 2016 hang in the balance, although he does expect another of his players to make Roy Hodgson’s England squad.

“I think Jack Wilshere will be at the European Championship,” Wenger told beIN SPORTS.

“I’m much more sceptical about Danny Welbeck because he got a knee injury against Manchester City and it looks like his cartilage has been touched.

“If he needs a surgery, the dream is over. Le’ts hope all goes well, but I’m very sceptical.”

Welbeck helped kick-start England’s unbeaten qualification campaign with five goals in five appearances between August 2014 and March 2015. Sidelined by a knee injury for tenth months he regained his place in March this year impressing in the Three Lions’ 3-2 win over Germany.

Despite not playing much football this year Welbeck’s versatility looked as though it would be enough to secure a seat on the plane to France alongside likely call-ups Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney.

Hope that’s not all he is sceptical about and seeks to remedy the issues where the scepticism is rife.

This is very sad news and I am really for Danny Welbeck. If there is anything ‘good’ about this, then at least it has happened before the transfer window has opened and gives us a chance to strengthen the forward line knowing he is out until next year. It’s a real downer though.

Just read 9 months. Fuck fuck fuck

Sickened. Hopefully more likely to buy a striker now.

Get well soon Danny!

No, bring back Sanogo and Akpom. What do you with Welbeck when he is back ? Theo may not leave after all.

Down with this sort of thing.

No, scrap Wenger diet and eat good red meat steak and ketchup like other teams. Veggie, fruit and lean meat do not build good muscle fiber. Might not be as crazy idea as myself think, lol.

Gunnersaurus

Definitely our most important player outside of In form Coquelin based on the energy and effect on a game. Such an unlucky guy. Come on Danny prove the recovery time wrong

The odd part of this is that despite most refs letting the opposition kick chunks out of us, DWs serious injuries have come from innocuous challenges…

Must be the work of the grandmaster @redface

Wow, we really do need another striker now. 🙁

Apart from for Welbz, obviously, the saddest part is that it might actually FORCE Arsenal to buy a good striker, when it was blatantly obvious that we needed to do this anyway
